Control+ General Discussion
Andman replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I hardly can imagine that they didn't notice that there is no diff between the C+ XL and C+ L motor. In fact there is. The internal gearing makes the differences. The C+ L motor offers more precision, which makes it a better choice for example for controlling pneumatic valves or steering. The C+ XL offers more inertia. Though I'm not sure how big the advantage of the XL over the L motor is. -
This is of course an option for me as a customer. But that won't help shops. Discounts will hurt them. TLG still gets their, in my opinion, overprized retail purchase price. Btw, I haven't seen any comment on color inconsistencies in any review so far (ot i missed it). Did you notice any during your recent reviews?

@Sariel, Did you happen to have the chance to replace the rear shock absorbers with softer ones? Great review! Thanks!

In the video description, he is thanking Lego Germany for the review set. Seems he had a deal with them instead of TLG in Denmark. -

You have to replace http with https in your links. Firefox and other browser will mark them as insecure. The forwarding from http to https on your webpage has no affect on that behavior.- 27 replies

Not that i know. Some mechanics of one of my MOCs suffered the same problem. There is a code block to lower power of the motor. But that one does not affect the the calibration procedure. Which combo of gears are you using? If you are using old style gears, newer ones might be sturdier and solve the issue as it did in my MOC.

@Kio Liex, the reason why your images are not shown, is the missing SSL certificate of your webside. My browser and likely the one of others refuses to load things from an unprotected source. For more info and how to fix it read here.- 27 replies

I'm keen to have a look at that. The only challenging part i see, is to build a proper code to detect when to switch the lock. The rest of the procedure is pretty standard. But we should keep in mind that kids are playing with lego, too. As it was mentioned before, kids do stupid things. Lego is just no meant for performance. If that's what you want, it may be better to switch to real RC cars. So it is not likely that we get stronger motors.

They still cloud be interconnected by a diff lock. But i doubt it. We'll see. Can't wait to see some reviews. But after all, the diff thing is something, which could be modified. What I'm more interested in is the parts color quality. I'd rather not pay premium prices for non-premium quality. The motor for the front axle is directly above it. You can see the typical shape of the motor between the colors LBG and DBG. Oh wait... that more likely the motor for steering. Based ion the images i have seen, it seems that both L motors the in the middle below the gearbox have their output pointing backwards, which makes me wonder how the drivetrain is designed.

Easy to handle: Condition for diff lock becomes true Stop motors Engage diff lock Start motors slowly again I'm hoping for something like that. But the least we can expect is a manual diff-lock for the rear axle (the front axle doesn't seem to have one). Every automatism is candy on top. Update: Just checked the images again. I'm pretty confident that there is no diff lock for the front axle, since the diff is enclosed by a 5x7 frame. There is simply no room for one.

While both, your formula and my approach, have the same responsiveness and serve their purpose, especially at lower values for a, i much prefer your solution. It is less code to "write"! So thanks again for sharing! I made a mistake. Have to rebuild the code.

Seriously... :-D No offense, but seems you are a little obsessed ;) And even if you are right in the end. Then what? I would care more about how they build the drive train, the suspension, the control interface and the performance. And BTW, first you said the body is tilting backwards. And now you are saying that the front axle is lower, which basically means the body is tilting frontwards.
