I just checked out those links - that's a great technique! Thank you!

So many wonderfully subtle techniques here! I especially like how did the roof shingles and the "leaves" on the ground. Keep up the great work!

Great work! Your Tudor builds continue to impress! I like how you were able to achieve the curvature on the blue roof and red awning. The road sign is a nice touch as well, and I really like the use of that tea saucer above one of the doors! The figure posing is also great - it makes the whole scene really dynamic and imbues it with lots of personality.
-
Great work! There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said - the use of minifigure torsos is ingenious, and I love how natural you made the cobblestone look! Out of curiosity, how did you achieve that cobblestone? All the cobblestone I attempt comes off as overly uniform.

Making this micro (and using microfigures) was a novel concept - it turned out great! I love how "smooth" this MOC looks (given the lack of exposed studs), and there are so many lovely little details - I especially like the ballistas in the tower and elf ship. Speaking of the elf ship, that looks magnificent! The shaping and colors are gorgeous, and it could honestly be a MOC in and of itself (as opposed to being part of a larger one) Great work!

So many things to like in this - I particularly like the detailing on the masonry, snow, and tree. Great work!

"A perfect trade as the Centaurs are addicted to shrooms, which grow on the heads of former criminals..." is not a sentence I expected to read today, but I'm glad that I did! There is so much to appreciate about the MOC itself. The story is great, roofing is creatively done (in all its forms), and the stairs/tree trunk are simple yet effective (sometimes builders "over-engineer" the latter), and I love the little touches like the archways and the brick trees. Great work!

Thanks! I have similar feelings regarding cockroaches - write what you know! Thank you! The Mandalorian (and by extension, The Man With No Name) were both inspirations for the character, along with Terry Grant (aka "Mantracker"), Jeremy Wade, and myself (mainly the bits about "spacing out" and the fear of cockroaches). -
Book III - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

I "rebooted" my sigfig, Kars. I posted about him a couple of years ago, but I have since rewritten his backstory, personality, etc, along with completely changing his appearance. Kars (GOH sigfig) by socalbricks, on Flickr As a bounty hunter with a strange mask and tracking skills bordering on the supernatural, Kars is an enigma. Though generally good natured, Kars is a man of few words, and only opens up to people he is really close with. As someone who is always on the move, he is often non-committal, sometimes to chagrin of others. However, when he does make a promise, it might as well be regarded as a legal contract. Kars wears a mask of unknown origin at all times. He partially lifts it up to eat and drink, but no man has seen the entirety of his face. As far as anyone knows, Kars has no fixed home. However, he spends most of his time in Avalonia. Despite his stoic exterior, Kars is fairly good-natured, and tries to minimize stress in his line of work as much as possible. As someone who views himself as a detective, keeping a level head is crucial. Despite this, Kars can struggle with overthinking/overanalyzing things, and often “spaces out” when deep in thought. Standing at 6’4” (1.93 m) and possessing a lanky build, Kars’ naturally long stride allows him to cover ground quickly. However, when tracking footprints, etc. he takes on an almost hunched, crawling form, keeping his face as close to the ground as possible. Kars is an skilled artist, an avid fisherman, does not understand sarcasm, and has an extreme fear of cockroaches. -
Looking great so far! The roof turned out nicely, and I like the curved design that you put at the center of the floor and the light-up fireplace! I also like how you used the sideways 1 x 2 bricks in the "walls"! I know what it's like to have slow progress on a build. I'm in college, so there are large amounts of time where I am away from home (and my LEGO collection) - I can only build during vacations. Good luck on the moving process!

Great work! I love the cracked floor and the rest of the dais structure. I don't personally mind the skull, but to each his own!

Yes - though there are ads on the website. As a regular user, I think they're tolerable. In order to remove the ads, you would have to pay for FlickrPro. -

Some great parts usage here! I especially like the construction of the throne - that use of the ship wheel is very inspired! You also did a great job on the lighting - very cinematic! -
The journey of Parzival - Snakes of Mophet (Chapter I, part V)
socalbricks replied to Zilmrud's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is amazing! It's great to see Parzival's story continue. There's very little I can say that hasn't already been said. The two of you have created a city full of life - something hard to pull off with inanimate toys. The two buildings you made (the embassy and Hidamus family residence) are fantastic - the use of colors on both is phenomenal! Quick question - what is inside the Hidamus family residence? Is it hollow? The techniques and parts use in both buildings is phenomenal as well. I especially like the printed turquoise domes and subtle brick/masonry effect on the Hidamus family residence and the use of the sand green "wallpaper" pieces wrapping around the embassy. Great work as always! -
So many awesome techniques on display here! I especially love the statue (and its base) and the patio! Great work!

A heavily armed minifigure I made as my sole contribution to the "Dispute on LV-4273" collab, which was displayed at Bricks Cascade 2020. I just got a lightbox, so now I'm finally able to photograph it! More info on the collab: Dispute on LV-4273 by Douglas Hughes, on Flickr

That's a neat group you have there! I like how you were able to make their personalities distinct with such concise descriptions. The designs are great as well! I can't wait to see more from them... -
Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely make sure to call them.
