Facts! I only got a handfull of sets from the winter wave and most of those were vehicles. This year's garbage truck looked okay, but I didn't care for the color. I prefer the green one from 2012. Ended up breaking that one into pieces. I also have the penguin slushy van and the construction loader. I also brought the emergency headquarters, which I use as a 9-1-1 dispatch center in my town.

Are classic themes dead ?
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to Khargeust's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That was my favorite theme of the 2000s as it was based off of a video game saga that I loved since I was as a child. -
You mean 7642?

I guess because I thought it was going to be a building like the one in 60258. But, it turned out to just be the inside of a building.

BRO!!!!! That comment was made almost 4 years ago back when the oversaturation of police and explorers based sets was rediculous. Matter of fact, this thread has kinda been dead since 2020. But since we're on the topic, City has evolved since then. I don't even think subthemes even exists in the theme no more and are just released in random drops. The subthemes themselves however were never there. They were just sets released under the town and Great Vehicles subtheme where other lines of work were showcased. Nowadays, City is doing more and more civilian based sets or sets based around lines of work that don't have anything to do with the fire department or the police force. Though this year's custom car garage kinda disappointed me.

You can find a few of those on Ebay. Though you'll probably hemorrhaging money in order to get those.

Or the Chicago series. Don't they already have that? Only they do it under Speed Champions. -

Unfortunately for people who want them back, there is a simple answer to the question that was asked up in the title; YES! Despite the fact that Lego has been granting our wishes recently; as I have personally seen a lot of in the 2022 with City. But unfortunately, pirates, space and castle will remain as such; wishes. They're never coming back! I'm sorry to be the bearer of the bad news (I'm just a blunt person), but that's just how it is. As far as those themes are concerned, Lego has Pirates of the Carribean, Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter and Star Wars. Lego has has the space subtheme for City. You can always shop for those sets on eBay or buy the $400 USD knights castle that's currently in stores. -
Nice one! The EG6 is one of my favorite cars. They're hard to find in stock form though.

Now a re-entering into the Thomas the Tank Engine license would be something I would faint if I actually saw. Especially if Lego were to make this range compatible with City trains. Otherwise Speed Champions spin-off anyone? I'd call it Railway Heroes.

Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah ikr! That's exactly what I was fighting against on this forum before. I mean, allow people to talk. We're going to reminice, especially if we're older Lego fans who still have fond memories of what the old days were like. To tell us that we're "complaining" is like telling us to shut up. We know that it won't ever go back to what it once was with Lego and we also know that there are some things that Lego will never do. But that doesn't mean that we don't wishlist or reminisce. That's just a violation of free speech. -

Danth, despite the fact that we have differed on a lot of things on this forum, I actually agree with you here. I mostly spend time in the town section of these forums because I'm a town builder. So I don't see that statement much anymore. During the police fad of the late-2010s for the City theme, that was a thing that I would hear a lot and that frustrated me a great deal. So much so that I often ended up losing my cool and getting into trouble with the mods as a result - I do apologize for the way I handled those. But yeah, I empathize with you 100% there because I know how that felt, especially when it came to City sets. But then 2022 came along and sorta.....well.....shut the nay sayers up, given that a lot of the ones I had experience with stated that City would never do a grocery store or school set. Only they DID do them and BOTH of them came out the SAME YEAR!!!!! Along with that, we also got a taste of all three first responder locations on the same wave; police station, fire department and hospital - which in my unpopular opinion, topped their predecessors. Ok, so we didn't get a bus terminal like I wanted. But.......that problem was solved in no time by buying the 2022 train station. A simple removal of the rail pieces and elevated platform along with several other modifications can convert the set into a bus terminal with no hassle. A quick visit to my Instagram will show you how I did it. So yeah I agree with you! Though....I wouldn't say it was an F you to fans. A "Nobody cares! Deal with it or find another hobby!" is more like it. Which imo is an even worse thing to say to AFOLs who recommend something new for Lego. Its like you never really wanted them there in the first place. -
That depends on what the vehicles are. Like if I see a hauler or some type of monster truck or aircraft, I'm not all that excited about them. But if I hear of a vehicle that I haven't seen before or haven't seen in a long time, I'm excited. BTW! Given that they say all summer sets are to be released in June internationally, shouldn't we see pics of the summer sets soon like as in middle of April to the beginning of May or something?
