Nice group of soldiers @MetallFanYT! Glad to have them on our side

After two days of travel, Major Brickleton and his party of cavalrymen approached the Carnite settlement of Seawatch. Reports suggested the town was under siege by Lotii forces and Brickleton had orders to confirm the veracity of those reports. Brickleton had the company of 18th Hussars dismount as they approached a low hill. Not far off they could hear the sounds of men at arms. Removing his bicorn hat, Brickleton crouched low and crawled to the top of the hill. He peered toward Seawatch with his spyglass. Kneeling to keep below the ridgeline, the troopers accompanying Brickleton took his lead and removed their bicorn hats as well. The trooper tasked with watching their horses wondered to himself what Brickleton was he seeing beyond the hill. Upon hearing a toucan in the tree above him, he mused to himself, "I bet that bird knows where the Lotii generals are". -------------------- OOC: Continuation of the recon mission to see the status of Seawatch.

Looks like a very useful and necessary building! Nice job. I especially like the simplicity of the dock - looks great! -
Being Pirates 2: Work in Progress and Teasers
evancelt replied to VaneStream's topic in LEGO Pirates
Looking awesome @VaneStream! I've played around with non-LEGO bases underneath MOCs and it works well to add a lot of relief without a ton of bricks. DUPLO also work for that, and bricks fit on them. Creative QT company make a cool LEGO baseplate with adhesive on the back, so you can mount them on wood or foam (or walls!) -

Thanks @Zepher! Yes I thought the clouds below the mountain peaks would add some more depth! Thanks @sveder! Yes once I put the 1x1 rounds on the skates I was blown away by how much they looked like little covered wagons

Thanks! #4 is actually stickered as well! (only #3 is UV printed) #2 is my go-to configuration at the moment for any sizable army, but I may move to #5. BrickGuild Toys ( @quiriacus ) made the cloth coattail piece. The muskets are from BrickArms. I like them a lot too! Also, great cloth pieces in those MOCs! Nice work

Thanks @Garmadon! I don't have that much dark orange either so I stuck some DO plates to be the muddier path and used tan for the drier patches. The second half (farther away) of the path is reddish brown simply because I have more plates in that color! -

Matt (the owner of Brick Guild) is pretty responsive to making custom things. I bet if you ask him he'd print some up for you! Thanks @Khorne! Hoping to try a few other new things with the round bases Haha thanks! I think @Ayrlego is the master of the redcoats. I do have a redcoattail post for you to check out though With the first picture it was a single shot at a higher exposure. With the second two pictures I took two photos in the same spot at different exposures and overlaid the darker foreground on the lighter background... while it took more editing work I agree the outcome of the individual shots is a little nicer. -
It's a "CrazyArm" by the 3rd party company "Crazy Bricks"

Corporal Jenkins was glad to get out of the fort. Their company had been stationed there for the past four months and life was becoming monotonous. When Colonel Herrod had tapped him to come along for some target practice, he had jumped at the chance. "Excellent shot, sir!", he called out as the colonel blasted an empty bottle resting on the barrel. They heard hoofbeats approaching - it was a rider from the fort. As they came within earshot, Private George called out that Black Bart had been spotted to the north near the foothills of the Blocky Mountains. They saddled up to head back to the fort. Black Bart's days were numbered.

The stickers are on the back of 2nd from left and back/front of 4th from left. UV printed is the middle one (KTownBricks)
-
I agree that second from left (sticker on back of classic torso) and far right (cloth coattails) are best in my opinion too! I think any of my big army posts would feature that second from the left variation, and smaller builds might feature the version with cloth coattails (I only have 6 of the cloth pieces!)

"About Face!" A study on coattails. Stickers, UV printing, and cloth provide different effects.
