  1. I need lion hat Luna to be a real thing please. (Also, straightjacket Lockhart is actually from a bonus post credits scene in Chamber of Secrets :) )
  2. Does anyone know when blogs and other reviewers usually get previews of these? I’m interested in finding out how many of the characters have rubber hairpieces. I’m guessing Elsa and Anna almost certainly do, but I’m curious about Sally and Jasmine.
  3. True, you can’t tell what people are buying, but we’ve moved on from the times when that was the only way you could get direct feedback from consumers. I can’t imagine Lego isn’t monitoring social media to see which figs are the most well received.
  4. Honestly, with an entire quartet of ducktales characters I’m wondering if Lego isn’t testing the waters for sets based of the currently running cartoon. As for the time between CMFs - if there is a series 3, I doubt it will take a whole 3 years to get it this time. If you look at the CMFs we got between series 1 and 2, half of them (4 out of 8) were based of Lego Movie properties. 3 more were the (apparently now annual) standard minifigure series, and the last was the Wizarding World series, intended to be released in conjunction with the long awaited Harry Potter reboot. The thing is, as far as I’ve heard, there isn’t a planned Lego Movie release within the next couple of years - so Lego will have to fill those licensed cmf slots with other things
  5. Probably has a little to do with what Disney is willing to license. Also, between the themes based on thier own movies and Hidden Side getting so many seats right in its first wave, it should be obvious that Lego want to give decent focus to their own properties, rather than becoming a slave to Disney (well, more than they already are - remember, Disney owns Marvel and Star Wars now)
  6. Ugh, don’t say things like that because I want a prefects’ bathroom. It’s a gorgeous room with a ton of interesting elements that would be really fun to see tackled in LEGO. Plus, a great opportunity to get Moaning Mrtyle without having to wait until Lego swings back around to chamber of secrets.
  7. Theoretically we don’t know what either of the August sets are, there are just rumors about the 55 dollar one being the Graveyard.
  8. I guess that’s why I was a bit surprised by the line up, because series 1 didn’t give two hoots about recent or upcoming releases when it came out. And I liked that. That being said, if we’re getting Edna, Elsa and Anna because of thier movies’ sequels I’m certainly not complaining.
  9. Sweet, I couldn’t tell with Jafar. Given that almost all the characters that can have double faces do, what are that chances Jasmine and Sally do as well?
  10. Not sure about her hair, but the leafy part of her bouquet is the new stem piece from the Harry Potter cmf, just in black, and I’m sure I’d recognize that flower if I paid any attention to Friends. Also, it looks like Anna, Elsa, Edna and Hercules all have double sided faces. No way to tell with Jasmine, Jafar and Sally yet.
  11. I think people are disgruntled not so much because they don’t like the characters we got, but because in series 1 there was a very even balance between Disney mascots, classic films, modern films and Pixar - and series 2 doesn’t have that.
  12. Yeah, I thought Snow White would be a shoe in, I mean, not only is she iconic, but the Evil Queen seemed like a pretty good option to pad the villain line up. I’m actually really surprised that we didn’t get any classic movie characters at all. It’s basically half and half Disneytoon characters and modern movie characters, with 2 Pixar characters thrown in.
  13. Woke up to the official announcement about a week before I expected and WOW was my predictions list off. Although I suppose my predictions list was predicated on Lego using the same proportions of modern to classic characters as last time, and there are no classic movie characters this time around. Very disappointed, since I thought Cruela DeVil and Winnie the Pooh were pretty safe bets and I was looking forward to them. Also kind of surprised that Lego gouged into prospective Ideas set sales by putting almost the exact same figs in the cmf. A little bummed there are only 2 Pixar characters, but at least they’re 2 awesome Pixar characters. (I need that Edna Mode)
  14. Ok, yeah, it is super weird that we were actually get minifigure leaks before the review results were even announced. And wasn’t it the 90th anniversary of Mickey last year? It’s weird that Lego didn’t do a set for that, unless they realized that an Ideas set would be coming up for review at almost the same time. That being said - I don’t think it was so much ‘we were already developing this set and just slapped the Ideas logo on it’ as it was ‘we already wanted to make a set like this, so when we saw this one was going to get the 10k it needed we just skipped the rest of the review process and fast tracked it’
  15. The thing is though, most fans actually wouldn’t care much about Marge if she were just a regular minifigure. If she was balloon!Marge sure, but normally she’s just a sour woman in a tweed suit. It’s possible that after some of the other new molds (that we’ve been so much more excited for) they just didn’t have the budget to inflate Marge, and what’s the point otherwise?
  16. I mean, probably if it was still on schedule to release next year, but with the movie release be pushed back... I see us still getting series 2 next year, the first one did really well, and it’s not like there were any Crimes of Grindelwald characters in it, it’s mostly focused on Harry Potter, so it could still do amazing without being released the same year as a movie. Plus, next year will theoretically be the year 5-6 wave, and since series 1 came out with the 1-2 wave and included characters from 1-4 (with the exception of Luna), I could totally see series 2 coming out with the 5-6 wave and including characters from 5-7.2.
  17. No need to be so cynical, there are loads of ideas submissions that reach the 10k point months before the next review deadline, and then the review takes several months. If someone at Lego decided to start talks with Disney as soon as the Steamboat Willie submission reached the 10k goal, I could see them having the set ready by now.
  18. Honestly, I think another big problem with doing Pete in a cmf is the size difference. Compared to Mickey he really needs to be a big fig, and I just can’t see that happening :/
  19. Lol, I was just about to bring the giant spider funeral up. I’d also like to point out that the 2010 Aragog looks like he wants to be dead, seriously it’s a pretty pathetically designed spider, especially when compared to the new one.
  20. Hades probably has more in common with Captain Hook than Malificent, so I’d say Hercules is a pretty sure bet. If I remember correctly though, were there actually any new accessory pieces in series one? I think most of the mold budget from that series went into hair. Plus, Hercules’ sword is fairly similar to the standard sword mold, only really has some differences around the hilt. If the very questionable way they handled sword choice in The Disney Princesses Mulan set is any indication, Lego isn’t fussy about making sure characters’ swords are super accurate. I think there’s a good chance we’ll get the round shield with a new print, and who knows, maybe they’ve adjusted the budget so we’ll get some new accessories this time (fingers crossed) - we should know for sure in just about a week.
  21. The Grawp scenes take place deep within the forbidden forest, and aren’t really connected to Hagrid’s Hut other than the fact that Grawp is Hagrid’s brother. I suspect if we get Grawp it will be as his own set, with him as a buildable giant fig. Would make a great small to medium sized set next year, maybe even with a much desired centaur? Seriously though, out of all the movies, Prisoner of Azkaban is the one where Hagrid’s Hut gets the most action, and is therefore the best option for making a play set out of. Plus, despite doing 3 versions of the Hut previously, this will be the first one to depict Buckbeak’s rescue, he’s never come with the building he’s most closely associated with before. And despite the Clocktower getting a ton of focus in the third movie, very little action takes place in that area, so it doesn’t surprise me that they decided not to worry about making it PoA themed, after all, you want to put the Yule Ball in an appropriately striking and recognizable facade. Maybe wait to pass ultimate judgement until we can see what we’re actually getting.
  22. Apparently there is an upper level, but from what I recall, even the people who were behind the curtain couldn’t quite tell what it was supposed to be. The models shown at Toy Fair were unfinished after all.
  23. The idea that there were ‘missing’ characters that would be included in series 2 was always just a theory (and a tenuous one at that). The Toy Story 4 sets aren’t evidence that Woody has been ‘replaced’ - it’s more like a nail in the coffin of that line of speculation.
  24. Well... that settles that then (guess it’s open season on Mickey and Minnie variations for the cmf)
  25. I was a bit surprised with they announced at Toy Fair there would be an 18 character line up as well. Back in 2016 it was the largest cmf ever, but since then we’ve had all the Lego movies with 20 slots each and the Wizarding World one has 22. I’m inclined to think licensing could be a part of it. There are only 2 movie franchises in the Wizarding World Series (Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts) while there are about 8 in the first Disney cmf (and probably the second one as well), yes they’re all under the same Disney umbrella, but there’s still likely some legal differences. There’s also the mater of custom pieces. There were only 2 minifigures in series one that didn’t need any new molds, and those were the Toy Story pair. Plus I don’t think there was a single figure in the series that didn’t have duel molded legs or leg printing (or both) except for Ursula with her big new mold leg piece, and there were a lot of arm prints and Duel molded arms as well. Compare that to the WW cmf, which only had one arm print, several sets of plain legs, a single molded head to Disney’s 7, and plenty of old hair pieces (the most common kind of new mold in the Disney series). Combine that with higher licensing fees and the character number difference might be a matter of budget. As for whether or not we’ll get Toy Story characters - It’s hard to say what movies they’re going to represent this time around. It’s possible they won’t want to repeat any movies, so (with the exception of Mickey and friends) there will be an entirely different line up of properties.
