LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
The goat was just a concept from the ideas submission, the only accessory we’ve seen actually leak is the guitar (and a black and white bird that also probably belongs in the set). But I have to agree on possibly not getting Minnie in the cmf. The leaked one is probably from the ideas set, and I’m not sure what other variations of her are popular enough to make it into the cmf. (On the other hand there are loads of Mickey variations, with Sorcerer’s Apprentice being the most likely one we’ll see)- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
So the fact that the b&w Mickey and Minnie figs leaked before the Ideas review results were even announced is really unusual. Who wants to bet they’re going to try and release Steamboat Willie at the same time as the CMF to up the hype?- 961 replies

Tbh, this is pretty close to what I’m expecting. Lego seems to be focusing on major repeat locations right now (Great Hall, Quidditch Pitch, Whomping Willow, Hogwarts Express, etc.) with sets based off content that only appeared in one movie being smaller (Aragog, rumored Patronus set, rumored Knight Bus, etc.) I already was expecting them to skim through those types of sets, then go back and do the large sets based off specific movies (forbidden corridor, chamber of secrets, shrieking shack, etc.). Once they’ve done that it will probably have been long enough to remake sets like the Great Hall and Hogwarts Express again (lather, rinse, repeat as you say). Timing it right so they could do the Forbidden Corridor and Troll Attack as anniversary sets (or even a single set) would probably really help Lego justify the extra mold budget needed to make new versions of Fluffy and the Troll - at the very least. (And who knows, Lego can’t do Star Wars CMFs, but they could use the Harry Potter anniversary hype to market series 2 for this theme)
-
So it’s not exactly a 2019 thing, but I just realized that if the Harry Potter theme can stay strong for 2 more years it’d hit it’s 20th anniversary like Star Wars is this year. Obviously Harry Potter hasn’t had the same consistent set releases of Star Wars. But they do have the advantage of the 20th Lego anniversary coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the first movie - which means that if Lego wanted to do some sort of promo they wouldn’t be the only ones stirring up the hype. I know 2 years is way too far away to be predicting anything, but it’s a good incentive to keep buying sets and let Lego know how much we love the theme and want all the content they can give us.

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion

The current rule banning sets based on current Lego lines/licenses is relatively new. For fairness they allowed any sets that already existed but didn’t fit the new guidelines to continue gathering support. Steamboat Willie and several other submissions are grandfathered this way.- 961 replies

Sorry, I think you missed some of the context. I was talking about Sully from Monsters Inc. with a molded head. (I know just how unlikly getting a Mr. Incredible like that would be although the sheer number of human Disney/Pixar characters who really do need a molded head makes the guessing game harder)- 961 replies

Given that Mr. Incredible also appeared as a big fig in that game, and they made a standard sized minifig of him in the last cmf, I’m not sure how much size is an issue. I could see him having a molded head that extends down over his chest and back and adds to his height, like the Wookiee and Ewok heads. In contrast, spongebob only worked because the character was already rectangular - Mike is round, so it’s impossible to use the same technique without leaving ugly gaps and hampering the movement of the arms and legs. Boo in her monster costume is complete doable, and would look fairly decent next to a Chewbacca style Sully (even if the scale is slightly off).- 961 replies

Coco characters would be nice, but I’m not sure we’ll get them because a) Disney seems to be at least somewhat aware that they should be more sensitive when marketing a movie based off a real culture (or it could just be that they haven’t been hyping the original movies as much as the sequels) and b) because of the lower marketing and more recent release date, the characters from Coco are less recognizable than say, Monsters Inc. or Incredibles characters. Pixar does have a limited number of characters that both fit the minifigure mold and are popular enough for people to instantly recognize though. Mike from Monsters Inc. isn’t really doable in a format that requires a torso, but I can see us getting Sully and Boo in her monster costume. Lots of people also want Frozone, and someone mentioned earlier that the retro suits are a possibility, so I could see Frozone and retro! Mr. Incredible/Elastigirl being one of the pairs. Then there’s Merida from Brave, who has a ready made accessory and Lego frankly needs to make her with regular legs and a fabric skirt to make up for that awful mini doll version who couldn’t even ride a horse (that was a crime Lego, and you know it) TL;DR not using Toy Story characters shouldn’t affect how many Pixar characters there are, even if the options to pull from are limited.- 961 replies

Lucius and Wormtail are likely to appear in other sets (and did during the first run), which is why I’d personally prefer a more unique CoG build. (Plus the potential for characters like Leta Lestrange or Nicholas Flamel that we might not be able to get anywhere else). I guess we just have to wait and see what it is. Honestly, I’ll be happy whatever we get, but I’m also really hoping for at least one set from the new movie.
-
The only minifigs that could be added are generic death eaters, and the number of minifigures in these sets is proportional to the piece count - Lego already added a bunch of extra side builds to justify the 4 minifigure count of the first Graveyard Duel. The only really new thing they could do would be to add ‘Babymort’ and I’d much rather get him with an updated Wormtail in a cmf/bricktober pack. A Parisian graveyard featuring the Lestrange mausoleum would also be much easier to differentiate from the new Hidden Side graveyard set
-
Has anyone considered yet that the rumored ‘graveyard’ set might not be from GoF? Fantastic Beasts gets lumped with Harry Potter even in the actual LEGO shop, and the climax of the most recent movie took place in a graveyard as well. It would also make more sense to make a set based off the new CoG scenes (maybe even including a brick built zouwu) rather than remaking the weakest of the GoF sets. (not that there’s anything wrong with the original Graveyard Duel, it’s just 80% generic graveyard props that have no foundation in the movie scene, and there’s really no significant way to expand upon the original)

The first of the Toy Story 4 juniors sets has leaked, and the characters have traditional minifigure heads instead of molded ones, so it seems unlikely we’ll get Woody or any of the others in this cmf- 961 replies
