The Grawp scenes take place deep within the forbidden forest, and aren’t really connected to Hagrid’s Hut other than the fact that Grawp is Hagrid’s brother. I suspect if we get Grawp it will be as his own set, with him as a buildable giant fig. Would make a great small to medium sized set next year, maybe even with a much desired centaur? Seriously though, out of all the movies, Prisoner of Azkaban is the one where Hagrid’s Hut gets the most action, and is therefore the best option for making a play set out of. Plus, despite doing 3 versions of the Hut previously, this will be the first one to depict Buckbeak’s rescue, he’s never come with the building he’s most closely associated with before. And despite the Clocktower getting a ton of focus in the third movie, very little action takes place in that area, so it doesn’t surprise me that they decided not to worry about making it PoA themed, after all, you want to put the Yule Ball in an appropriately striking and recognizable facade. Maybe wait to pass ultimate judgement until we can see what we’re actually getting.

Apparently there is an upper level, but from what I recall, even the people who were behind the curtain couldn’t quite tell what it was supposed to be. The models shown at Toy Fair were unfinished after all.

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
The idea that there were ‘missing’ characters that would be included in series 2 was always just a theory (and a tenuous one at that). The Toy Story 4 sets aren’t evidence that Woody has been ‘replaced’ - it’s more like a nail in the coffin of that line of speculation.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
I was a bit surprised with they announced at Toy Fair there would be an 18 character line up as well. Back in 2016 it was the largest cmf ever, but since then we’ve had all the Lego movies with 20 slots each and the Wizarding World one has 22. I’m inclined to think licensing could be a part of it. There are only 2 movie franchises in the Wizarding World Series (Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts) while there are about 8 in the first Disney cmf (and probably the second one as well), yes they’re all under the same Disney umbrella, but there’s still likely some legal differences. There’s also the mater of custom pieces. There were only 2 minifigures in series one that didn’t need any new molds, and those were the Toy Story pair. Plus I don’t think there was a single figure in the series that didn’t have duel molded legs or leg printing (or both) except for Ursula with her big new mold leg piece, and there were a lot of arm prints and Duel molded arms as well. Compare that to the WW cmf, which only had one arm print, several sets of plain legs, a single molded head to Disney’s 7, and plenty of old hair pieces (the most common kind of new mold in the Disney series). Combine that with higher licensing fees and the character number difference might be a matter of budget. As for whether or not we’ll get Toy Story characters - It’s hard to say what movies they’re going to represent this time around. It’s possible they won’t want to repeat any movies, so (with the exception of Mickey and friends) there will be an entirely different line up of properties.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
I’m starting to think it’s possible they’ve just made an exception to the rule. Disney is a pretty big IP for Lego, and the fact that we were seeing minifigure leaks for the set before the review results were even announced is unusual in itself. Now that I think about it, it’s doubtful that Disney would allow the set to be made without screen accurate versions of the characters, so Lego really HAD to make the new hats. When it was just Minnie’s hat I could see a color version popping up in the cmf, but the Steamboat captain hat makes it look like the question isn’t really ‘did they make this so they could use it in both?’ But rather ‘are they going to bend over backwards to use this in the cmf so they can claim the aren’t breaking the rules for ideas?’- 961 replies

Yeah, Krum doesn’t have the right hair. Harry also has the short legs instead of mid-legs like he should, so it seems like someone just got ahold of the new torsos and decided to piece together what the full figs would look like.

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, the only other really well known versions of Donald are the one with the black coat instead of blue and the three Caballeros version, of which the only difference is the hat. The only way I could see us getting a Donald variation this series is if they figured out how to give his head a red gradient, so they could make temper tantrum Donald, since that’s a big part of his character. Now, if they make a series 3 I think we could see three musketeers versions, but I doubt they’d break up that trio, or give us anything other than classic Goofy for his debut.- 961 replies

Another thing to consider with this idea - if Goofy’s hat is separate from his head, then a head mold with a closed mouth (i.e. printed teeth) could also be used for Pluto. Not the cartoon version obviously, but the bipedal fur suit version from the parks. May be something to consider given how few versions of Donald there are to remake.- 961 replies

Sirius’ animagus form in the PoA movie is basically just a black German shepherd type dog with slightly longer and scruffier fur. The current police dog mold would work in a pinch, although as far as I know it’s never been done in black before, so it would need a new color and printing. As for Snape? Meh. I know he has some fans, but he really doesn’t play an important role in the Werewolf scene (even with the movie doing its best to make him less awful). I’d rather have Hermione, who actually lures the Werewolf away from Harry. Plus, that way you could combine both $15 sets and make the whole scene, time travelers and all.
-
This could work! There’s hardly any interaction with Werewolf!Lupin in the book, but the sets are based off the movies, and they went out of thier way to really play up the werewolf fight and add a chase scene. The set could include the Werewolf, dog!Sirius, Harry and Hermione, as well as a tree build. If you want the Buckbeak to save them you have to buy Hagrid’s Hut lol. Seriously though, the original PoA wave included Buckbeak in both a small and medium set, so don’t discount the possibility he could appear in a $15 set as well (especially if said set appears 2 months after the more expensive set he’s in) I really want this though because we’re badly in need of an updated Werewolf. For the 2004 version they just included thier generic horror Werewolf head that went over Lupin’s existing head and body. It’s about as ridiculous as it sounds.
-
I want a Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff Quidditch battlepack so much (you gave us the tiles to put them on the scoreboard in the set Lego, now give us the actual players)
-
Exactly, skim over things the first go around (especially the first few movies) so you can get through as much as you can if the theme doesn’t last long. Then you can go back and fill in the gaps if it does well (it has been so far). If it’s lucky enough to become evergreen, then by the time they get to doing the Great Hall again the 2018 one will have been off the shelves long enough to warrant a new version. (As opposed to having half a dozen x-wings all from different movies)
-
I think they’re skimming over all the movies so far. We didn’t see any of the forbidden corridor or the troll in the bathroom from Sorcerer’s Stone. Everyone’s commented on how we didn’t get the Chamber of Secrets or anything with Gilderoy Lockhart from the second movie (the polyjuice scene would be cool as well). It looks like we won’t be getting the Shrieking Shack or any other part of Hogsmeade from the Prisoner of Azkaban. And the second task, prefects bathroom, Drumstrang Ship and Beaubatons carriage seem to be missing from the Goblet of Fire line up. Definitely leaving some stuff to get back to.

Can we not get into another argument over which leakers are reliable/not reliable/more reliable? Especially over the prices, which we really can’t know for sure until a retailer actually puts them up on thier website.
-
A list came to light a little while ago that had 3 ‘confidential’ sets listed - one for 15, one in the 40 something range, and the 55 one. It also had the Expecto Patronum, Hagrid’s Hut, First Task and Clocktower sets listed with thier prices. Since we know from people behind the curtain at Toy Fair and the leaked Ernie Prang torso that the Knight Bus is coming in June, we're presuming the 40-ish confidential set is the Knight Bus, leaving the 15 and 55 sets as the August releases. As far as what they are - so far we’ve only had people claiming second hand sources, so take any outright convictions on what the August sets are going to be with a pinch of salt.

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion

The brand new hat made sense for Minnie, since there are color versions of her in that hat, but I can’t think of anything else that you could use the Steamboat willie hat for. The proportions also look a tad off, so maybe a repurposed piece? It’s also occurred to me that new hat pieces could be coming out in connection with the D2C and not the CMF. Hate to double post, but Lego Ideas has posted a teaser for the Steamboat Willie set. Still super pixilated, but it looks like he has some sort of hat? We should get proper set pictures is a couple of days, then we’ll be able to see how the minifigs in the set may or may not affect the cmf. Edit: in other news, this announcement seems to line up just right with a timeline of a mid-April VIP release and a general release at the same time as the CMF.- 961 replies

Arnold the Pygmy Puff made a cameo, although his color was changed from purple to pink. Pigwidgeon actually appeared in some promotional stills, but apparently they decided to to film anything with him in it (given his scenes in the book, I imagine it had to do with some tasks being too difficult for the animal actors to preform). As other people have said, Peeves was originally slated to be in the first movie, they even cast an actor and shot scenes, but he was cut, presumably after Lego was given ideas to make sets from. Peeves has been around nearly as long as Hogwarts, so don’t count on an origin story. But who knows, Rowling might find a way to sneak him in a scene ^^^This. This is how I want them to do the Burrow remake so much. Never say never. Last year we were supposed to be getting the Knight Bus instead of the Hogwarts Express. The August sets weren’t behind the curtain at Toy Fair, so all the information we have on the is second hand here-say. I’m confident the list for June is correct based on the leaks we’ve seen, but I’ll remain skeptical on the August rumors.
-
You can hope but they won't do it Just like we won’t get brick built versions of the welsh green, Swedish shortsnout and Chinese fireball

I was pretty shocked she wasn’t in the cmf. Especially since she was the only member of the ‘sacred seven’ to be left out. I guess maybe they couldn’t think of an appropriate variation of her? Yeah, seems weird. But at least we got Cedric, Dean and Cho, so no real complaints. That said, Ginny was only in a limited number of sets the first time around. The most notable was a yellow skinned version back in the Chamber of Secrets, which we all know Lego has skipped for now. The 2010 sets had an updated version of her in both the Hogwarts Express and Burrow sets (uniform and casual clothes). Lego also hasn’t remade the Burrow yet and the train last year was based off the 3rd movie as opposed to the 2nd/6th movie train from 2010. So it’s not really surprising she’s not in any of the sets yet. She’s not really in Sorcerer’s Stone and while she’s important to Chamber of Secrets, she doesn’t take part in the action sequences until the big climax, which Lego has decided to shelve for now. Again she’s not very prominent in Prisoner of Azkaban, and while she gets more screen time in Goblet of Fire it’s usually as a less prominent member of group settings. Ginny doesn’t really come into her own as a character until Order of the Phoenix, which, unfortunately, is when Lego really cut down on doing sets the first time around. It’s the same reason we only ever got 2 versions of Neville and 1 of Luna with the old sets. I’m pretty excited to see what we get next year actually, because proper OotP/HBP wave is the first chance for loads of characters to get a chance at the spotlight.
-
Possible I suppose. Although it bears remembering that we knew the Hogwarts Express set existed, we just had no clue what it was. It’s also worth remembering that there were several people convinced that the second retailer exclusive last year was going to be the Knight Bus. I think some ‘leakers’ might even have claimed to have confirmation. With the Ernie Prang leak now so far we’ve gotten leaks from all 5 June sets, so I’m comfortable in thinking that the set list for June is accurate. But with nothing on the August sets other than ‘yeah someone said the graveyard is a thing’ I’ll remain skeptical as to what they could be.

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
That’s a little different though isn’t it? Because even though it’s still technically a licensed series, it’s still a lego property. Plus, especially for the first Lego Batman Movie series, you’re not just talking about the Lego employees working in design and production - you’ve also got a whole movie cast and crew, who not only know what Side characters and variations are going to be featured, but probably also get some sort of indication when a character they’re working on is going to be mass produced. Far more sources for leaks.- 961 replies

Finally getting minifigures of Lily and James would the only thing to justify the $55 price tag for me to be honest. (Other than maybe the Riddle manor and Frank Bryce). They cant justify not giving us babymort at that price either

Don’t. Don’t make me hope for this...
