The Lego store employees not knowing anything makes sense - anytime I’ve talked to the people at my local store they’ve always said that they basically don’t know anything until we do or the sets arrive. Lego customer service should be giving out the official press release though, pointing you at an inaccurate tweet is just weird (but I guess that’s one of the reasons I’ve been going to the brick and mortar stores instead of online)

June matches the timeline of official photo releases and leaks much more accurately than August. Given the 2 rumored August sets it’s probably just a mix up.

I definitely wouldn’t mind getting a set with young Newt and Leta, even if I am a bit skeptical about how well the old single classroom modules would work with the new set designs. I also think that young Newt could be our best bet at getting the cmf style house robes in Hufflepuff colors. I also wholeheartedly agree on the subject of CoG. It has its issues, but it was still a very fun movie overall, and doesn’t deserve most of the hate it gets.

If I remember correctly, the stardard August release covered both sub themes, but the July advanced release in Target and Lego stores only included the Harry Potter sets. So there is a bit of a precedent for different release schedules between the two.
-
So basically it has nothing to do with the actual set dimensions, it’s just whatever retail website posted it used the box dimensions. That makes more sense.
-
That’s what I’ve been thinking honestly, the entire situation is far less confusing if the August sets are part of a sub theme. Those dimensions are really weird. I mean, the low height and large footprint suggest graveyard, but the maximum height from the original graveyard was over twice that. Even the main tombstone (which wasn’t the highest element of the original) was about 4 cm higher then the 5.7 cm listed here, and it kind of has to be, in order to be properly imposing and screen accurate. 5.7 cm is barely higher than a minifigure.

It is weird, last year’s retailer exclusives were revealed at a different time, but they were released at the same time as the other sets. The whole 5 Harry Potter sets in June and 2 in August never made sense to me anyway. I’ve always wondered if they might not be Fantastic Beasts sets instead, hence the 2 month gap. Either that or the August sets were just a false rumor

Yeah, Myrtle I could definitely see us getting. The first bricktober pack gave us Madam Hooch when she’d notably been left out of the Quidditch set, plus Boggart Snape when Lego clearly knew there wouldn’t be a place to put him in the next wave (not to mention pajamas Harry and Quidditch Draco in the CMF). With that sort of trend for giving us characters that could fit in existing sets, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a Moaning Myrtle to accompany the little prefect’s bathroom in the clocktower set.
-
Lol true. But that one was based off the Lego Batman Movie, and if I remember correctly came out at around the same time as the CMF that was about half composed of Batman variations - notably the second CMF of the movie didn’t include nearly as many Batmen, so I wonder if there was some sort of backlash? In any case, we don’t even have confirmation that there will even BE new bricktober packs, let alone that one will be a new Harry Potter pack

Those three have clear color differences, plus the outfits they appear in are based off the ones from the original Ducktales cartoon, so those outfits are more recognizable and have a ton of different objects associated with them for accessories. In contrast, the Patil twins Ball robes are nearly identical and neither is seen holding anything in the one scene they appear. That actually applies to most of thier appearances actually, so I think we’d be much more likely to see the Weasley twins in a CMF (with different prank products) while the Patil twins are more likely to appear in a bricktober pack (although I think sets are still our best bet for getting both).
-
So far we haven’t heard anything about any bricktober packs, so who knows if Lego’s continuing them. That being said, previous bricktober packs have always included a variety of characters, so I can’t see one including nothing but Yule Ball variants. However since Parvati and Padma have such similar Yule Ball outfits (in the movies) I could see them showing up in a bricktober pack with a couple of other characters not from Goblet of Fire. I couldn’t see them showing up in a CMF in those outfits though - they’d be too similar and there’s no clear option for accessories to differentiate them.

Add into that the fact that the 2 repeat minifigures are McGonagall and Richard Harris Dumbledore, who are only available in what is currently the most expensive system scale Harry Potter set, and the minifigure selection really is amazing.

From what I’ve read, it’s been hinted that they might be going to Brazil, on location stuff there could be trickier than London or Paris. I also haven’t seen any announcement that JKR has finished the script yet, so she could be taking more time with this one.
-
Why not? A set based off of Newt, Tina and Leta’s arrival could include the Zouwu and the facade of the Lestrange crypt. Depending on piece count you could also do a bit of the inside and include Credence, Nagini and Kama as well.
-
I’ve been wondering this since the rumors came out, but a lot of people here seem opposed to the idea whereas I’m perfectly happy with the possibility of getting a lego Zouwu. The proper advent calendar pics look great. So happy we get new torsos for Harry, Ron AND Hermione. Flitwick should be interesting too, since at the very least he needs new prints. If anyone’s questioning what the Hogwarts’ Architect statue looks like, Harry and Ron hide behind it when thier slipping Crabbe and Goyle sleeping potion in Chamber of Secrets, so it actually features in a Christmas scene!
-
As far as I can tell, no - although it’s tricky to tell in some pictures (the Hagrid’s Hut ones don’t even give us a good look at all the characters wands). From what we can see it looks as if most of the characters use the dark brown, medium brown or tan wands; however, there is at least a rare color, it looks like Krum uses the orange wand previously only found with Newt Scamander.

Lego has actually put out some really decent looking giant brick built figures. The trick is that they didn’t try and make them look ‘accurate’ they just made them look like scaled up minifigures. Under similar circumstances I could easily see Grawp being the main build in a set.
-
Why would Grawp be unlikely? I think a brick built giant figure Grawp is very likely, it’s nothing Lego hasn’t done before. The actual question is whether they’ll put a centaur in the set too.
-
The very blurry leaked photos of the advent calendar box appear to show several builds that can be used as set dressings, like a Christmas tree and presents - rather like the City calendars have. Not an extra room, but they’ll probably be useful for dressing up the castle sets for the season.
-
Really? Where? So far on #legoleaks and #legoleak I’ve only seen the front of the boxes and what looks to be official release pics of Hagrid’s Hut and the Clocktower.

Yes, exactly, were Star Wars, City and Friends not among the five top selling themes last year? Star Wars and the in house themes do better than themes like Harry Potter overall in part because of the sheer volume of sets available compared to smaller licensed themes. What I’m trying to point out is that ‘how many advent calendars from each theme were sold’ might be a better show of each theme’s relative popularity as opposed to ‘how many sets were sold from a theme with just a dozen sets vs. how many sets were sold from a theme with nearly a hundred sets’
-
Our hearts would sing, but our wallets would weep. I’m already super hyped about getting the advent calendar this year when just last year there were people saying it wouldn’t happen. It proves that Lego has noticed how popular Harry Potter is (has there ever been a licensed advent calendar for a theme other than Star Wars?) and it also gives Harry Potter a chance to stand on even footing with some of the biggest themes.
-
No, technically speaking I’m pretty sure it’s part of the castle that didn’t make it into the D2C.
-
True - the sets are based off movie scenes, but the battle packs don’t necessarily have to. Plus, I don’t think Dumbledore ever says his line about socks in the first movie, but they still included that panel for the mirror of esired. They also have all the characters they’d need already in the movies (albeit not in Quidditch gear) Cedric Diggory and Zacharias Smith from Hufflepuff, and Cho Chang and Roger Davies from Ravenclaw. The Wizarding World parks are also based off the movies but you can still get loads of Ravenclaw Quidditch merch, so the designs are already there too.
