  1. a video of it running, including the track i made (i had some plastic track laying around, that i dont use) https://flic.kr/p/2qEzwrt the track is made by cutting the middle two studs out with a saw.
  2. shunting goods around a factory most likely. or mining industry. just generally industrial use.
  3. thank you! yeah this wont be a permanent thing, i will make proper narrow gauge track.
  4. After making the prototype chassis yesterday i have made a locomotive out of it, inspired by the egger bahn electric locomotive: here is mine: and yes it drives on its own.
  5. to prove that it actually works here is a video: https://flic.kr/p/2qDKdPj of course you can use any motor with sufficient torque, i used a modded tower pro sg90 here as its cheap and small. rubber band is this one: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=3320#T=C
  6. another idea: the design is inspired by the one in my breuer rangiertraktor, where a rubber band drives the small wheels and acts as a traction band at the same time, its not a very efficient design currently, but gives an input out the top.
  7. honestly the only thing you could improve is make thinner cables (i.e. fewer wires), but that would require changing the protocoll and stuff that will make These motors and components more expensive. as much as id like for 9v to come back, for a toy train system aimed at kids, with the protocoll being open and with it being used across various themes its the best.
  8. well the one i called done you already know about (actually contemplated for them to pull this shunter out with that one but decided against it), the one these guys got to work isnt new either funnily enough, its just been aranged differently. the speeder is new of course! thanks for the compliments!
  9. the two are now hard at work, fixing the tractor trying to get it to working order, they have even built a small cargo cart to house all their tools. they have brought diesel, a battery, wd40, oil and rust remover along with various tools to get it fixed. with their mechanical knowledge these two will surely get it to drive out of the gate! well it seems like they have made it! one of them loves taking photos and documenting everything, so he operates the camera to film the first drive out of the gate. Hope you guys all like this short model turned into mini story!
  10. they already started working on clearing the trees and cutting the fence @Toastie... will it eventually run? no one knows yet...next time you will find out!
  11. i have now caved and just made it wired with a long wire and battery box, the 9v track powered approach does work, but not over switches and not very well. its just too light of a vehicle. and just playing with it switching comparatively huge cars around is half the fun. i am at a stage where this project is done for me* *until something new comes into my mind and i will bump my own now 4 year old post again. https://flic.kr/p/2qDkNuu
  12. thanks for giving me ideas! lets see if i can continue this Story in the way you described (the model is on oneDrive, that i shared with you guys, its under city mils then abandoned Railway.io. that was one of my quicker builds funnily enough, it took me maybe an hour from nothing to this, i already had a 16x32 mils base modelled, the shunting tractor aswell, the trees are from my Monorail diorama made larger, the only thing i really built from scratch in this model is the little railkart. crazy how combining different elements in another way can make a scene come alive.
  13. these red windscreen pieces are almost made for this! very nice!
  14. After having watched a ton of urbex and railcart videos, i got inspired to create this: two people having a little adventure with their homemade railkart powered by a lawnmower engine, they have now reached an old industrial site in this forest, where an old switching tractor rusts away beyond the fence.
  15. looks like a good recolor, i think there is a tram system with a similar paint sceme, idk which one though
  16. with power functions being one noteable exception, that debuted with a Technic bulldozer (afaik). happy new year btw.
  17. and now the entire train is complete with all types, including the dining car with the pantograph to keep the kitchen powered if there is no locomotive and the famous dome car.
  18. imagine If they just went Back to 9v track powered, with some sort of dcc...one can dream.
  19. thank you! well, its the easiest way to make windows that are exactly the size you need, the normal train Windows would have looked kinda stupid, so i went that route. combining modern elements with some more retro ones (although the snot stuff wouldnt have been a thing back then).
  20. now i have started another "series" of cars: the tee train ones (yes there is a dome car, havent done that yet) Basic design is the same as the n wagons, just modded to represent the differences, the right one is the Basic one, the left one is first class only seating.
  21. Thanks for the compliment, yeah these are kind of a mundane thing, i have done whackier builds in the past, but given how widespread these were and are in my home country, i just had to do it. I am not going to be building these irl probably, dont really have the time, i did attempt to build a red one as a kid, of course much worse in quality. these werent crazy difficult to build, i started with my twindexx emu, and then made that single floor and of course added the correct windows and details, the most difficult thing was building the fronts, and the mint green livery. especially this one was difficult to pull off: had to play a bit of tetris in some areas to get the gaps to dissapear. and the mint version was kinda meh, because the front slopes arent made in the mint color i need. these are the last cab car they made, and the one that was common the longest, usually with double decker cars behind them (common until like 2018 or so where i live)
  22. yeah, i thought it fit and i made a digital model from the real one for you guys!
  23. Today i built some n-wagons, also called silberlinge (silverlings) due to their brushed stainless steel original appearance. anyways here are the models: the most current livery, red and white (these are rare nowadays to see from newest to oldest livery. the original cab car, these didnt have a lot of space for the driver (also called hasenkasten, or rabbits cage) and werent very safe in a crash (zero crumple zone). they were quickly converted to these: these are called Karlsruher kopf, due to being converted and concieved in the city of Karlsruhe. the front is inspired by the 6w model on open l gauge, as well as the door handles there is another one called wittenberger Kopf, which is the newest, but i havent built that yet.
  24. Hi guys If anyone has the big christmas tree, you can now build another (albeit much smaller) tree from the spare parts, without making two smaller ones. here is the stud.io file: xmas tree spares.io Have fun with that model!
