  1. Hey guys, Today i built a steam powered powerplant, inspired by this video by sandro here, highly recommend, worth a watch on its own. anyways here is the model the building features two chimneys, and that old timey look of buildings of the 1900s. inside you will find the steam engine and its accompanying generator... ...aswell as the boiler, transformer and era appropriate control gear.
  2. lovely! very cute .@LEGO Train 12 Volts
  3. another update on my small narrow gauge endevour: i made another version of my tipper wagon, that now is more realistic looking and less tall to fit my locomotive better scale wise: the loomotive also got an update, now having a way to couple to other wagons: lastly i made a Diorama to keep the train and show it off. of course this all also exists irl (with some changes to the colors) hope you like it!
  4. i mean 12v is just smal banana plugs anyways, so such a thing shouldnt be too hard to do
  5. i can see how youd come to that conclusion yeah.
  6. buwizz if you want a battery/receiver combo thing. or the pfx brick of course.
  7. i have done some changes, looks better, but still missing the couplers and stuff. also did a video of it: https://flic.kr/p/2qJyt1G its faster pushing 2 Cars than the old one was pulling one, so the drivetrain is much more efficient.
  8. and here is an even smaller locomotive, also motorized, done yet of course, but its pretty much exactly as big as my digitally built unmotorized dima locomotives (which was my original plan anyways to recreate them). and yes it works and the drivetrain is much more efficient because now the rubber band doesnt need to take as many bends and has a lot less friction. the other one was working but often got stuck with the band fouling itself. i will make the motor black later, so its not as much of an eyesore along with some other fixes and stuff.
  9. thank you! was a thing of not having black 1x1 bricks, so i just made this (a kid back then could have also done this, so its beleivable and fits).
  10. @KnightDelusion here is the link directly to the file. main street mini.io
  11. no instructions unfortunately, but i do have a stud.io file, link is in my signature and on my profile
  12. to chime in here i have experimented with this stuff aswell as a kid, and back then the maximum that felt okay with a powerfunctions train Motor was like 1 brick per straight track piece. doesnt the 9v motor have less traction than the pf/pu one? that way legos recommendation would make sense.
  13. i dont think lego makes a Differential small enough, otherwise we could test what impact that has on Performance and shaking (i have never noticed shaking either, but i only use one motor), or just have a Differential between the two bogies that get driven from a single axle and motor maybe?
  14. yup, and even between two motors the variation can be huge, even if they rolled off the assembly line right after the other one. the only way to 100% match rpm is closed loop control, with feedback. the motors are all close enough anyways. especially since these are toy train motors we are talking about here, not some precision drive motor for industrial or scientific use.
  15. there is always this...
  16. great work! runs A LOT faster now for me!
  17. very nicely designed!
  18. @Murdoch17 its available for free on archive.org: https://archive.org/details/gettingstartedwi0000mcke
  19. honestly that would be kinda cool, if it is as large as a normal train motor, but it limits the lighting and other functions options kinda.
  20. Recreation of set #136, originally wanted to build a locomotive, but couldnt find my 4.5v motor (was broken, idk if i got rid of it or if it is somewhere). had to make some compromises since i dont have the premade base or the couplers and some other stuff on hand.
  21. thank you aswell. that idea with the rubber band that loops around came to me in the middle of the forest on a walk. wild how the brain Sometimes works.
  22. thank you, yeah have tried fitment with studio, it would need to be changed quite a bit to work, but i might come up with something else in the future...
  23. a video of it running, including the track i made (i had some plastic track laying around, that i dont use) https://flic.kr/p/2qEzwrt the track is made by cutting the middle two studs out with a saw.
