  1. I've thought this was the case for awhile. Mario, Animal Crossing, and the Deku Tree all seem like they're about as expensive as the Disney licenses.
  2. I think this is a pretty solid theory. Though I think it's entirely possible that Enoch WAS considered at some point, and lego pulled him when they realized they weren't going to be able to pull it off with an existing mold. Foggy also seemed to think Enoch was coming. Those are similar enough fumbles that I could see it.
  3. Which is especially funny as it was the same reaction to this wave leaking in the first place! I assumed it'd be delayed, but they would have been able to delay it long ago and we did get that Max Rebo's Son leak recently. If we do end up getting two imperial battlepacks next year, I can't wait to see the reaction. I've seem some rational arguments that we've had QC issues with clones somewhat frequently, though I'd argue that's just due to the sheer number of clones, as well as the fact that they print on white, something lego's notoriously bad at. I've never understood the argument that they're deliberately sabotaging or paying less attention to clones, because it not only feels demonstrably untrue but goes completely against lego's motive of people buying the set. I thought that was fake and just came from ANOTHER fake leak that it'd be a mon cala OR a clone, which itself spawned from a leaker articulating that they were making a guess. The Clone Bro subset has been remarkably resistant to the "statistic on how many clone figures/sets we've had recently" argument. I think they'll be fine. Yup- if I counted the studs right, it's about 2/3ds the size of the Daily Bugle's footprint. Whether or not it'll end up feeling/looking worth it isn't something I can decide upon you guys, but it's definitely big. I assumed that was the joke. They've put a lot of meta-jokes in these sets, and I can't think of another reason for them to pass up a Darth Luke figure.
  4. In the sense that Thanos and Vision share the mind stone, maybe.
  5. It is a terrible design for Guy, and Nathan Fillion somehow doesn't look good in the photo. I assumed he'd get something but that's a rough wig (also, it's not even a ginger wig? Why are we giving Guy a wig if not to make his hair the right color?) The photo of superman putting his boots on was mocked more for how it was shown off than the suit itself, at least where I saw comments on it. These suits are seen from multiple angles here and look pretty bad in my opinion. That'd be a funny critique of modern superhero suits, but at the same time I'd much prefer Superman to dispute other modern films just by... being a good superhero movie that doesn't have to be meta. Either way, they've given Guy an odd wig that's not even the right color, which is still my main gripe. You're literally giving the actor a wig, you can't be bothered to make it the right color?
  6. Wait until this man finds out about the theme formerly known as lego DC superheroes.
  7. Very, very nice look. Has a modern build with a retro feel a la the Galaxy Explorer remake. Not quite sure if it's worth $40- if it has three figs it's definitely more than the $30 from Obi-Wan's Delta-7, but rumor is it has two, and while it's certainly souped-up, I'll need to see the second fig and some more angles to see how much larger it is.
  8. To be fair at this point streaming is how the majority of big shows are released. This isn't as accurate for younger kids, but I don't think we know the age rating yet either- this could be a hard TV-PG, but some of the stuff in the trailer makes me wonder if they're going for TV-14. (Which I'd love, but then it's not going to be on, like, nickalodian) It clearly doesn't count the TLBM set Tower of Sauron that released just this year. But Mark does meet batman that same episode. And canonically spent at least part of the episode trapped in Fortnite, arguably the worst thing to happen to any character in a series full of gruesome deaths.
  9. Totally unnecessary, which makes it all the more great to have! Though I may swap it out- I really liked the post-apocolyptic but still alive night troopers, and while I'm not fully opposed to the zombie ones on Peridea, I hope we don't actually get Thrawn using an undead army across the galaxy. I don't think nightsister magick should be strong enough to work from a few sisters over a ton of planets, and one of my favorite things about Thrawn in his original trilogy was how he was a lot more respected by his suboordinates than vader (like the scene where the tractor beam operator tries something that doesn't work, Thrawn sees he was trying to do something innovative, and promotes him instead of killing him), which would be totally missed if his men are all zombies. Instagram in 5 seconds: "Night trooper battle pack AND stormtrooper battle pack confirmed!" Youtube in 2 minutes: "TWO imperial battlepacks confirmed? Why does lego HATE clones?" But seriously- it would be nice. And if it's two stormies and two navy troopers in one (or two stormies and two army troopers) and three night troopers with mismatched arms and/or grey faces plus Enoch in the other, it'd totally be at least as different as "blue clones" is from "blue clones with orange faces" Arguably this has been true since 2017, if we're being pedantic. (Of course you're right that in terms of times it was actually based on the person and not just on an animation model voiced by the guy...)
  10. There are more figures in this set than the old one. Now it's also significantly more expensive, but that's mainly due to the sarlacc now having the rough footprint of the Daily Bugle. Was that the best choice? No. Is it meant to coincide with a UCS sail barge hence the massive size? yes. Exactly! I'd actually say it's a much better build- putting aside that it's an alter as opposed to just... some terrain, so it actually has some significance and recognizability, it's also built a lot more like a diorama or display set than the grey nothing, which was a grey nothing. I'm waiting for an exact remake of the 2020 Anakin's Interceptor (but in red and white instead of yellow and grey) with Bob and an Astromech and it's just $40 now. I think an argument could be made that something like an AT-TE fulfills a tank-like role at the very least. In star wars we're already loosening the definition of a tank, as most star wars "tanks" aren't treaded vehicles.
  11. They've done them pretty frequently for Marvel- the vast majority of sets not based on films from 2012-2019 were based on Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, or Spider-Man 2017. Plus a few What If sets. It's less common for batman, but there also haven't been as many batman shows released in the runtime of the theme- I think it was only Beware and Justice League Action, neither of which had a typical release schedule/distribution, and both of which had at least loose tie-ins. I guess Batman Unlimited, but that barely qualifies as a show.
  12. Yeah, but to be fair none of the midi-scale ships they've been doing have had figures. Plus, it's not even based on that film. I dunno. I don't collect the midi-scales, but this looks solid. It's also the type of thing adults who aren't generally lego fans would put on their desks, which I assume is the rationale. I'd be interested to see a sanctuary 2 if this does well.
  13. This is- and you can go back and look at my post yesterday- almost EXACTLY what I was asking for. Peridea looks incredible. Maybe a bit pricey for $55, but the build doesn't look like a toy, it looks like a display piece. It's beautiful, not to mention the figures. Ahsoka the white is also excellent, and I'll take a great night trooper over a half-baked Enoch any day of the week (imperial dropship in 2025, though?). And Morgan has the face paint print! Immediate day 1 buy. Biggest criticism is the name- stop it, lego. Go back to having interesting or at least short and succient names. None of this search optimization garbage that looks like it was AI generated. (But of course, none of that actually impacts set quality.) Skiff and Pit are also incredible. I think the people complaining about the price are missing the size of the pit- that thing is almost as wide as a baseplate, I'm seeing 28 by what looks to be at least 20 or so. For the price I would have liked to see a new Boba and another skiff guard, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Just a heads up you are not going to see anywhere near the money Thrawn's been going for now that official images are out. If you are gonna sell, do it ASAP- that price is only going to drop. I also think this is a really huge improvement on the Luke figure- the bit of leg printing really helps the overall look for me.
  14. The buildible characters apprently do well enough, otherwise I assume they'd stop making them. Doesn't mean I personally get the Megafig appeal though. Unfortunately, given the sheer part count of the Loot Lama compared to it's price, I'd be shocked if there were minifigs. Maybe 1 if they're plating the sides in 1x1s.
  15. Very well-made, and an important part of the war.
  16. I would also 100% buy this in normal circumstances, given how good the Batmobile looks, but on the other hand, you know they'd make this $70 and it'd only come with Batman and Harley Quinn. I think it's pretty clear lego seems to be going off the US rating system for what they will and won't make sets on. You sort of prove your own point by saying they'll make sets for things rated MA15+ in Australia... but TV-14 in America. There are a number of properties with higher age ratings in other countries that got sets because they were PG-13 or TV-14 in the US. The only time it's been broken in the US is when they released an Echo figure in a CMF and the show was changed to a TV-MA rating AFTER the product had been developed.
  17. It was- it also implies a new trans-yellow blade would now count as a recolor (though c'mon, when has lego star wars had a low enough budget to worry about a recolor?) I knew they were trying to keep the second one secret, but I legitimately didn't realize the first one was meant to be a non-marketed secret. Doesn't the poster show it? Unless the show suddenly spikes in popularity with kids, I think the most we get is one set. A Vector with Sol and The Stranger would do best, but given lego put out a Justifier, you never know.
  18. This is also very true. Luke with new hair for some reason, white shirt han, Boba Fett, Lando Skiff Guard, and Chewie, plus another Jabba guard I think. It's supposed to be like 7 minifigs or something crazy like that, though to be fair, anytime there's a large number of minifigs and the exact count/lineup is unknown, it usually ends up being significantly less than we're initially told. Looking at you, Yavin and Star Destroyer. While that one was a joke, given that that same press tour gave us the legend of anakin destroying the death star and the idea that there's no good or evil in star wars, lesbian r2 isn't much weirder and fits the theme of not really caring about the franchise you've been handed. I know we're supposed to stop, but I'm just saying, she totally could be in the actual canon adaption. There's plenty of room for her main storyline. As my last thing on the topic, I just want to know if @BrickBob Studpants has read the thrawn trilogy, or is just basing this off what he's heard about the character. Yeah, exactly. This is: A franchise where characters repeatedly survive situations that would realistically kill them, even ones who aren't force-sensitive. A man who we JUST SAW had a number of clones and who's whole schtick is outplanning and outhinking his enemies. A set of armor that's known for being incredibly resistant to damage. I think it's not at all unreasonable to speculate he's alive.
  19. The last thing I'll say on Mara is that most of the criticism seems to be just on whatever they think Mara is just from peripheral knowledge, not how she's actually written (at least in Zahn's works). "Waifu/Luke's wife" when her first major trilogy has a completely different dynamic between her and Luke. "Doesn't answer to or outrank vader"- Palpatine does this all the time in both canon and legends. It's also been very clear in stuff like the Alligence duology that while Vader can't directly command Mara or kill her, she has to tread VERY lightly around him and can't order him around. This is generally true, Solo nonwithstanding. Which doesn't bother me too much. For one thing, L3 is clearly some sort of weird advanced AI system beyond that of a normal droid. For another...look, if anyone could get a droid to fall in love with them, it'd be Lando. The three remaining sets are the ones my hopes are highest for, but I thought the Cal set would have been a sure buy from me, so we'll see. Here's my thoughts: Peridea: Thrawn and Ezra are great. If there's a solid Ahsoka the white and the build's not egregiously small, I'll get it. If it ends up being a Gray re-use and super overpriced, I might skip it, but this is definitely the one I'm most confident I'll buy. Some nice cherries on top would be a new faceprint for Morgan with the face paint and/or a non-sucky Enoch. Jedi Bob's fighter: This one I'm probably most likely to skip initially but pick up in a year or so. I seriously doubt that it'll be worth $40 and not just a generic jedi starfighter with a $10 "Jedi Bob Tax" slapped on, but we'll see. If it's an interesting design and the non-bob figure is good, I might pick it up. Otherwise, I'll wait for a good sale and part it out so I can have a Jedi Bob. Skiff: They've done great work with the skiffs in the past so I've got faith this'll be good. Ideally I'd like to see either two skiffs or a larger skiff and significantly larger-than-normal sarlacc, but the sheer number of figs, like with Peridea, means the build would have to be pretty subpar for me to skip it. Overall the two fig-heavy sets are probably going to end up in my cart day one, unless they REALLY drop the ball.
  20. I mean you're entitled to your opinion but I don't think that was ever something suggested by any official sources. He also, as @ARC2149Nova says, had a number of romantic interests in legends, to the point that the Abeloth storyline includes him confronting multiple past love interests as almost a side quest. (one of it's weaker points IMO) Have you read the Thrawn trilogy? Most of her best characterization is from that. She's almost literally haunted by the ghosts of her past, battling between the person she has to be to survive, the person she was in said past, and her sense of what's right. She has a very interesting and complex storyline compared to star wars's often basic view on former villains, one that I think's only matched by Crosshair. You have to be gunning for controversy here with that Young Leia bit at the end. Generic civilian clothes child with a frisbee is more interesting than the Emperor's Hand turned smuggler turned Jedi and wife of the original main character of the franchise? The more I see about this droid builder set, the less I understand it. $100 is really just an absurd price point for the astromech version of Go Brick Me.
  21. Which I much prefer- I think it gives him a lot more character. Yeah, but that's a couple figures for a franchise that had an INSANE amount of crossovers. I'm surprised there's no system sets is I guess what I should say. Just saying- didn't start with Disney. I'm not saying it's totally fantasy. I'm saying it's sci-fi and fantasy, as @Agent Kallus points out regarding things being able to be multiple things.
  22. I don't think that point is particularly strong. Would Cal have been a bad choice if we never got the BD set? Would Malak have been a bad choice if we never got the Revan polybag? Would R2-KT be a bad choice (if she's even coming) if she hadn't cameod in clone wars? Besides that, Star Wars is a lot more of a wide universe than HP, which despite Warner Bros's best efforts, largely remains one story and at best other time periods at a specific school. I'm not saying it'll be AI-generated sets or stories or something, but I gurantee you they're working on a way to get it crammed in there somehow.
  23. Best scene in the trailer was "Bang" and then the ship gun thing going off. I'm so happy they're finally using him. My guesses: Superman: 1-3 sets, SWOT 0-1 sets, TBP2 3-5 sets, Joker 2 none, TBATB 3-5, ST none, TT 1-3, TA 0-3 depending on rating. Lanterns 0-1 sets, PS2 none, BG 0-1 sets, Waller none, Arkham none. Jurassic League: none Caped Crusader anywhere from none to multiple full waves. If it's TV-PG/TV-14 we could be looking at our best chance at theme revival. BB I dunno, I don't know the target audience. Kiteman none, HQ3 none, CC none. Exactly. It's both. I hope they touch it up before release, but this is Amazon, and we saw Invincible. They need to get their animation in gear here, you could have the Best Superhero Comic Show in the Universe and stilted animation'll still hurt it. For all Snyder's faults, at the very least he did PLAN on having John involved. They even filmed a post-credits for the snyder cut with Wayne T Carr if I'm remembering right. I don't get this either. It's lego's whole weird "we're for girls too, but they need their own minifigure system" thing. Clearly many girls do like the friends theme and whatnot, but I maintain they'd do at least a little better if they had normal minifigures. TTG is brainrot, but it's also massively popular, so it does confuse me why lego never did anything for it. It's both, and so is batman. It can depend story-wise. ZSJL is sci-fi/fantasy, whereas The Batman and TDK are more crime thrillers. 60s batman is comedy/adventure, etc. We're in a franchise with space wizards, microscopic life forms that determine how much connection you have to your magic powers, etc, but no. gravity wells and magnetic fields are where we draw the line. Space Wizards, man. It can be both, but you can't say it's not fantasy. You even say yourself that there SHOULD be fantasy elements.
  24. That's a pretty solid head. The entire figure is really nice for a comic iron man, aside from the helmet.
  25. Exactly! They've completely outpriced themselves here- no child is buying this instead of a normal system set, and I don't know how many adults are interested in this either. This feels like a Lucasfilm employee gift, not a real set. It also blows my mind that they aren't trying to bolster sales by putting a more desirable figure like Cal or Fives in this one- Young Leia's by far the least popular. Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing for consumers that desirable characters aren't locked behind this set and I respect them for doing it, but a terrible business move if you're trying to sell the set. Look foreword to seeing the MOC wave. The one you did back in... what, 2020? was really nice. I gotta get back on the MOC train, work's been hectic. I mainly know her from that trilogy and the other excellent Zahn books- the Allegiance/choices of one duology is one of my favorite SW book lines, and I totally reccomend it. It's a great intersection of plotlines that also has fun with the sort of "grievous and anakin can't meet in TCW" thing, putting characters who can't meet yet just about as close as you can get without doing so. (My Suwantek MOC- which includes Mara- is based on that book) I wholeheartedly disagree, one on the fact that she's less relevant than Malak- I'd say they're on the same level of being known, if not more- but also on the idea that not having been in much recent stuff would make her a bad choice. If anything, that's the perfect reason to put her in- a fan-loved character who hasn't been in anything they're planning on making normal sets for. You can't tell me modern lego isn't the type of company that's already attempting to put AI in as many places as possible. I wouldn't be shocked at all if the next in-house theme tried to use it in some way, after Nexo Knights/dimensions, Hidden Side, and Vidyo tried to emulate TTL games, ARGs, and Tiktok (ew) respectively.
