  1. Honestly wouldn't mind that. It'd be pretty funny for the second ship to get a remake (not counting stuff like different in-universe models of the X and Y wings) to be Krennic's Shuttle, but we've already moved from the microfighters being about the ships to about the figures, and this would be the best way yet to fill up a conference table with ISB. That would be fun.
  2. They better. I can at least accept that the playscale one might have just been the advent of Lego's "just shove a bunch of keywords and character names" naming strategy as of late, but an 18+ set where the ship name isn't just on the boxart but actually part of the set... c'mon. There's no reason not to use the ship's real name. Really? The former, maybe, as most of the US legos are manufactured in mexico- but we've had inconsistent prices before, and it feels like the type of thing lego would make a big statement about if they did it, like they did for the inflation ones a few years back. Not to mention you'd assume it's something lego would apply to all US sets and not four sets out of a wave from a specific theme. With no change to current set prices. For something that's been fluctuating and put on hold before. I guess it's possible, but I don't think it's anything concrete or relevant to star wars sets yet. As for the latter, absolutely not. This is the second thread today where someone's been like "haha greenland", but no, I don't think lego is increasing prices on the US because of greenland. Putting aside that most parties in greenland don't WANT to be part of denmark anymore, I feel like we'd know if denmark was forcing it's companies to increase prices on the US (and to my knowledge Denmark's tariffs against other countries and the VAT haven't recently spiked). And of course, lego is an international company, motivated by profit, and I don't think it's at all realistic to suggest they're increasing prices on the US specifically out of... spite? nationalism/patriotism? Over words? It's not like the countries are at war, and it's not like lego increased prices on sets in Canada in 2005, or puts notes in the santa's workshop sets saying "The North Pole is rightfully Denmark's". Be realistic here.
  3. Isn't Miles Prowler essentially also a non spider person? He never got bit and has no spider powers. He was supposed to be one, but he isn't. It's like Peter Parker from Gwen's verse, or Gwen in the main verse- sure, it's a person who's a spider in other universes, but not in this one. I know this is a joke but seriously, why are characters like Scarlet Spider and Jess missing when we have ones who barely appeared in the movie? I maintain that if they needed ones who were barely in the movie, they should have at least done ones that had greater significance outside of it, like Unlimited.
  4. I still think the S3 finale has definitively shown that the average viltrumite would tear through the average GL like, as you say, tissue paper. It's partially due to their culture and universe's style, but if a viltrumite closes the distance on a GL, they're dead, and viltrumites can also speedblitz most species. S3 Finale spoilers start, highlight to see: Limit Break Eve's strongest attack wasn't even able to kill an already quite damaged viltrumite, albeit one of the strongest ones. End. I think anyone short of the most powerful versions of Kyle or Hal get speedblitzed or their defenses smashed through before they know what hit them. IIRC it's specifically human/viltrumite hybrids that are the strongest. Ones like Oliver reach maturity and therefore adult strength faster but have a much lower strength ceiling as their other species isn't as compatible with viltrumites. Humans specifically are not only a genetic match, meaning they can get full viltrumite strength, but due to the way the hybrid reacts with how humans get stronger naturally and adrenaline, Mark gets stronger when: A: He gets beat up and then recovers after B: His adrenaline spikes (I saw something on this the other day that people were using "someone close to Mark dies" as an amp and I can't get the image of Cecil trying to talk William or Paul into joining the Conquest fight out of my head) That said I don't think Mark changes the equation much. The only way I see the GLs winning is if Leezle Pon can turn himself into (comic spoilers start): the scourge virus (End.) Are you going to be wearing a bright red three-piece suit with helmet and air tanks? Putting aside the fact that we're not supposed to talk about current events of that nature here, it boggles my mind that people are like "ah, yes, clearly the US is going to war with Denmark." No, we aren't. There are precisely zero elected officials that want war with Denmark. Not to mention that the majority of parties in Greenland, including the one that won the most recent election, want independence from Denmark, so unless we suddenly attack a NATO nation out of nowhere soon, it's not even like our maniacal invasion of Greenland that we're definitely planning would involve Denmark.
  5. There's a PAB render of it- it wasn't on the Jango figure, assumably because they were only able to grab the standard head/helmet/torso/legs as we've seen with prior figure leaks. Hoping for either The Acolyte: TAS or a Klaud slice of life show. (Assumably this is the ventress/the path project, which I'm honestly not all that interested in- the "jedi escape order 66" thing has kind of run it's course for me, but if it is that I'll immediately go on the copium of show about the path- Cal has met the path- shows are more likely to get lego sets than games- Jedi Survivor Cal minifigure) The silver one would work much better. It's been 8 years since we last saw it (just like Jango himself) but even with this year seemingly having a lower budget/allocation, surely they can afford the recolor?
  6. In a lot of the set photos it looks really similar to lego's lavender color. The Kamino lighting can make it come off as more blue, but if we're going off the actual costume it totally should be a purple. Lego saw us complaining about the lack of new molds and decided to downgrade the rangefinder pack. That monkey's paw curls... Honestly I think it's a downgrade. Aside from the fact that I loved getting all those additional bits as a kid, the new one looks bigger and chunkier (probably as a result of the fact that it's one piece). They couldn't have just put two of the old one on a sprue like Harry Potter Wands? For that matter, they needed to spend a new mold on this at all? This feels like they're penny-pinching the additional 10th of a cent of plastic, which is especially weird because new molds are EXPENSIVE so it'll probably take a year or two at a minimum for it to be worth it anyway. I almost have to applaud lego for finding a way to make a new mold an objective downgrade rather than subjective/aesthetic.
  7. There's been speculation in the marvel and DC threads before due to some designer stating something along the lines of preferring marvel to DC that it had some impact on the ratio of marvel to DC sets. This kind of confirms it isn't the case- if even the designer of the hulk truck thinks it's kind of stupid, that makes clear that they aren't the ones choosing what to make. I made an alternate version of the daredevil head last week for something I'm working on, and with 10 minutes on Google Draw I had something that looked fairly similar (but without the weird empty area, no idea why he put that on). The first movie was huge, but I think even by the point the bust came out we knew the hype had died down a fair bit. I know it came out around Wakanda forever, so it hadn't been concretely proven yet, but I think even beforehand it was clear the refusal to recast T'Challa was going to hurt the franchise pretty heavily. Before the movie he was part of the sort of second tier of avengers (most popular characters outside the big three avengers) in stuff like the EMH cartoon, and while he exploded after the first movie, he's largely gone back to that position. I think if they'd continued with T'Challa BP could have continued to be mega popular, but as-is they've hurt the character's brand pretty significantly.
  8. I was going to say "Because of Peridia he's not bad on BL right now", but he's twice the price in the UK he is in the US, I wouldn't buy any official figure for $25. (I have, unfortunately, spent that much on a pad-printed Invincible, and will do so again on his blue suit, but only because lego will never make him.) I personally love Peridia but I also loved the Ahsoka show a lot more than the average fan (And I'm not even like a huge fan of ahsoka the character or anything), the aesthetic of Peridia specifically, and I also love the diorama type sets. I would also like to see a TIE defender sometime soon. First of all, as I say pretty frequently, you've got a knack for explaining points I'm trying to say in a much more eloquent way, so thanks for writing all that because I certainly wouldn't have been able to get it across to that extent. I just wanted to throw in on this part that even with darth jar jar and jedi vader and darth rey I still haven't seen the DF doing well ancedotally. I'm crossing my fingers I can grab it at 50% off, sell most of the figs, and have a pretty sweet parts pack for pennies on the dollar. Yeah exactly- it can clearly have split legs at lego sturdiness in a lego style. I don't think we'd see anything like the wrist swivels or custom-molded backpack, but I do think that the CAC figure shows lego can clearly pull off split legs if they ever get around to the mold. I mean to be fair the exact same thing is true with normal minifigures. As for that first part you could say the exact same thing about literally any other star wars characters, let's not pretend it would be exclusive to the main OT cast. I think you're also ignoring the main thrust of Swordy's point which was that the average person (adult or child) doesn't know about or use bricklink much. Nobody's saying it's impossible for me or you to go get the OT main cast in one of their standard outfits at a good price (Actually, if you count Lando as part of the main cast, he is), but for a child who can't go on bricklink or an adult who doesn't have an account, it's a different story. Bricklink isn't the most well-known thing. And even some of the people I know who are big into lego and know about bricklink through me won't make accounts because they don't like buying off the secondary market for that stuff. Exactly. The reason the more niche and fan-favorite characters are so expensive is because a lot of the people deep enough into lego star wars to be on bricklink want them, whereas most people that deep into lego star wars already have the main casts.
  9. To get sets after the fact, I think it would have to do NWH level numbers. Besides the fact that the MCU isn't exactly making bank on all it's projects anymore, Endgame and NWH are the only ones that have had an immediate development of spoiler sets of the stuff they missed, which I think is a good benchmark for if they would go back and cover a movie they didn't make sets for at release. Because if on the near-impossible chance it is real, suddenly they're the only leaker who saw it coming. And if it's not, everyone ignores their failures and he can just post another fake leak in a few months, which is how he got to this point.
  10. The duality of man superman fake leaker
  11. You did a great job with that list, even I don't know about a quarter of them. Actually, nevermind, 1/24 not enough Mara Jades. Your list might be a bit hopeful with Thrawn but in general I think feels pretty accurate. Ironically the two on the list I'm hoping most for are the Christmas Clone (Partially because I really do think it would be fun and partially because it would be good to see lego cement this is more of a "year of the clones" thing and not just... the future of the theme) and the Stormtrooper (just because I don't want to break that imperial trooper streak) I'm gonna guess that realistically though it'll be: Anakin Skywalker (Christmas sweater), Young Ahsoka (Christmas Sweater), 327th clone trooper, Cassian Andor, The Mandalorian, B1 battle droid.
  12. During the Alt-Build contest a few months ago, I had the idea of using 66787 Jedi Masters Gift Set, which I got for it's great value as a part/figure pack. Somewhat understandably it was decided that it really wasn't a single set and therefore not applicable, but I still wanted to try an alt build of it, so here it is- From left to right we've got a TIE Prototype, a weapon emplacement prototype, and a Personnel Dropship. The idea for the set's "Lore" is that Rothana and Sinear have provided some prototypes for the Jedi to review. Here's the TIE prototype in GAR livery, which is meant to resemble a TIE striker. It's got spring loaded shooters under the cockpit, and unlike final production ties, utilizes an astromech slot. You can see the Twin Ion Engines around the back The cockpit can seat either a humanoid pilot or an astromech droid (by attaching its feet to the back panel) for testing purposes to avoid potential harm to organics. Here's the personnel dropship, with two wingtip stud shooters and an anti-infantry blaster on the nose. It's meant to be evocative of a downscaled Republic Dropship Here's a look at the actual dropdown platform, which can seat 5 minifigures. Pulling an axle connector at the back unhooks the platform and allows the gunship to dispense the troopers and fly back to base. I like to use every single piece in my alt-builds, which meant I ended upp with this somewhat rougher weapon emplacement- the idea is that it's a selection of weapons arranged for testing. L-R we have a proton mortar on a turntable, a spring shooter, a concentrated laser ray cannon, and a weapon meant to emulate STAP cannon fire for testing purposes. I'd previously purchased the Obi-Wan starfighter individually, so I mixed up the characters. L-R we have a Clone Test Pilot, a Clone Infiltrator, Captain Spectro, another Clone Infiltrator, Yoda (with outer robe), a Clone Sniper (disguised), Yarel Proof, and 2x Astromech Droids.
  13. Thanks for doing the research- Stafford's been with lego for decades and did the Bugle IIRC, he's a top tier designer, always has been. Reading Grabowski's comments (He's very active on brickset, and very protective of his UCS batmobile design choices) gives the most insight. He kind of implies that he's been placed into the "car guy" spot by LEGO (I think he does like 90% of cars for licensed theme sets- even sets that have a car as a side build, he did the car), and while he seems to enjoy it he does confirm what we already could assume, which is that the push for sets like the Hulk Monster Truck come from higher ups and not the designers. A number of the less-liked sets like the Logo and Civil War V2 come from someone who also made the X-mansion, the original airport battle, etc. I think conclusively we're seeing that most of the things wrong with the theme aren't the designer's fault (Though I still do have to say the UCS Hulkbuster V2 designer got absolutely demolished by Ransom) To be fair, that's the mech guy, right? It kinda seems like lego just tells him to make a lot of that stuff. Yeah based on the research @icm did and then what I looked at, it's not like there's a guy out there responsible for every bad set. The clunker sets come from people who routinely put out top tier sets, and while the theme's got a mech guy and a car guy, the car guy stated in his Hulk Monster Truck notes that the push for all that comes from high ups, not the designers (and said they wanted a hulk truck "whyever", implying at least he agrees on it being kind of a dumb set idea)
  14. As @TeddytheSpoon says, Clone Army Customs have a good template showing how the legs can be separated while keeping the same general proportions and not making it as wide as a minifig. (Personally their torso is a bit too detailed for my tastes, but the split leg solution works great on them IMO.) I've seen those too and they definitely do not work. I agree the joint should be stronger, I just think if they do make a change might as well fix both at the same time. You gotta find a compilation of all of them, it was like every 15 minutes or something.
  15. I don't want to blame things on specific designers, but part of me does want to look through and see if certain designers are making all the good sets. (Obviously stuff like the mech only designer kind of feels like that's not his fault and lego just assigns him only mechs, but if the same guy's responsible for the AoU diorama, semi-UCS ships, etc, I feel like they should just hand him the keys to the theme) Exactly. And what's annoying is many of us have come up with waves that would both fit the constraints of the theme (character colorful vehicles, limited budget, etc) while still being better than "spider-man's car" "10 endgame figures standing on some rocks for $100", etc. Make a Wolvmobile and use it to give us Sabertooth, and like, a cheaper Jean or Gambit or something. There are ways to make sets people would like within the constraints. I think Marvel is probably going to regard Doomsday as their big chance to right the ship- regardless of whether Thunderbolts and F4 do well or not, Doomsday's the big one- they've got the most to gain and the most to lose. I wouldn't be surprised if they had lego go all-out for the wave- I just hope there's good set material and minifigures of characters I care about, because right now, my Doomsday buy list would be this: Bricklink Doom (Optional, depends on if the MCU design is good) Bricklink any Thunderbolts who appear in their normal costumes. I think yours is the better one overall but I'm deranged enough that I can instinctively read the upside down text which is why I use the white text. Though I wonder if that screws over anyone on dark mode- I assume it doesn't automatically revert colored text to black.
  16. Canonize Cervaza Cristal. Maybe make it so that "Cerveza Crystals" are a resource that's melted into a mild intoxicant beverage. I think it would definitely add something to it. I don't think it would make it a bestseller, but I'm sure it could help knock some people on the fence onto the "buy" side if it had a new B1 rather than the cheapest SW minifigure of all time. IIRC the mimban one has mimban-specific molded detailing, not just the print. I'm generally not a named minifigures in battle packs guy but I have to agree Enoch should have taken the spot of one of the death troopers. He's a glaring omission from the Ahsoka sets. They have plenty of two-leg characters with strong enough joints- Skeletons, the old Nexo Bots, etc. I think they could both strengthen the joint and separate them.
  17. See but if anything I think that makes it the other way around- there are so many and for so cheap that if you don't want the change, you probably have a solid number built up, and the cost to swap to the old ones is minimal compared to pretty much any other star wars character (and you'd probably make a solid profit selling the new ones for the first year or two if you were so inclined.) The only way I see it being a downside is if you feel compelled to instantly swap out every B1 in your collection for the new style, which I don't think is an issue on lego's end. Sure, it'd be 2 new pieces instead of one, but we're still down enough molds this year that I think it'd be fine. I'm not saying it's the highest priority just that I'd like to see it done. Well said. Can't wait for the Pablo Hildago and Kathleen Kennedy busts. (They couldn't figure out the rights to George Lucas) I don't think it desperately needs one but given the lack of new molds this year it wouldn't be a bad time to add in the split legs. They've grown on me too- while they're a tad oversized, they don't have the print issues I used to get with the 2014 era ones, and there's no denying the dual molding adds some nice detailing. But even for people who still hate them, you're right with the general sentiment that it's overblown- lego has pretty clearly demonstrated at this point that they aren't going back to the old helmet, and it's been more than half a decade- at this point complaining clearly won't change it.
  18. There's "It didn't have much screentime" and there's "Lego made a $100 Avengers set off a split second bit from the inevitable "traveling the multiverse" montage"- There's one particular piece of concept art that I'm thinking of that could easily be a split-second bit of a montage. I thought that was possible I just wanted to make sure on the off-chance since you used the \spoiler at the end
  19. Just a heads up the spoiler tag didn't work- I don't care, it's probably something the trailers would reveal anyway, but just a heads up. I don't think it's impossible that they will be- after all for how much of the plot it took up, it's not like time travel needed to be a spoiler (And we got the 3v1 against thanos in the trailer too). I don't think it's impossible that they try to keep the main thrust of the plot secret- if not for doomsday, for secret wars. I also think the multiverse factoring in works against it- lots of different locations, and lego can't be confident on how much screen time each will have.
  20. Am I the only one that isn't bothered by this? At a certain point you need to evolve the design. I think we objectively have to agree on that- obviously they can't stick with the same character design for eternity. The difference would be at what point you need an update, and I think 26 years (or 18 if you want to count the addition of the straight arm variant) is enough for B1s, especially with the lack of separable legs. I'd submit that you don't need to replace every B1 in your collection with one of the new ones just because a new variant is out. Having options isn't inherently bad. Like with the stormtroopers- the RO design is a change from the 2012 design, which is a change from the 2007 design, etc. The RO era design may be your favorite, but there's someone out there who was making the exact same argument when they switched from the previous design to the RO one. Obviously the dual molded helmets are controversial (and at this point I mean you've just got to let that one go) but I don't think it makes sense to complain just that the design changed at all. Too frequently maybe, but then for something like the B1, again 26 years. It's the ultimate evolution of the 18+ification of the brand. No minifigures, no vehicles, nothing that even appears in the universe. It's the Final Form of lego star wars.
  21. That's exactly my thoughts. The SW, Marvel, and DC themes are all disappointing me this year, and then ninjago drops what may be the hardest ninjago set of all time with that mech. Props to the boxart division too- it looks great enough in the actual photos, but the boxart takes it to the next level. A Seeker, too. Kind of Brutal that Lloyd cut off it's head to turn it into a mech, though. I know! It'll be the first ninjago set bigger than a battlepack that I'll have bought since 2015, when I was a kid. I think I might rework the weapon and head to make it Tahu from bionicle, but either way it looks incredible. The price is the only thing keeping me on the fence about it. Wasn't the Dragon Stone Shrine, a previous attempt at an older ninjago market, $120, and it ended up at costco for like $60 (though never around me )? It probably will be the first full scale ninjago set I've bought in a decade, but it might be a wait for a sale kind of set.
  22. Source? He's a pretty obscure character, I don't remember if we ever got him but if we did I think they'd just re-use a Yaddle mold. Good point that Mundi's head is a mold resurrection. We're still well below the normal amount of molds, but we've dipped this low before (2021 was lower, I think), so it's not impossible. That said, for $1000, I'm sure the death star- if it really has 40 figures- would give a new mold or two to Palpatine's bros. (I know they're advisors, but given we barely ever see them anywhere else, I think it's funnier to headcanon they're just random civilian friends of his and he invited them to the death star to crack open some cold ones.) I'd welcome new tooling for the B1s, it wouldn't fully redeem the year for me- and I'm not spending $150 or buying the buildable to get my hands on some- but it would be a welcome update. They really need separated legs.
  23. Knight mech looks really great, tempted to buy it not even for ninjago specifically but just because it looks like such a great display piece with the flowing cape and how it's posed to attach the sea monster. Wouldn't mind seeing more out of that subline. It would be cool to see future Legends entries use either the original designs or more abstract/"adult" designs for the ninja. It's a little weird to see a set like the knight mech being piloted by the goofy post-movie Kai design.
  24. I don't know that that's the same thing, approximating Rogue's hair wouldn't be the same is leaving out a helmet for Thor. Yeah I'm sure they'll want to keep him availible in some way. I've been thinking of Krakoa, mixed up which mutant island was which, sorry. Which I still think would be a good D2C for the X-men. The boxart was based on that, but a number of the figure designs are comic-based rather than the MCU-inspired Avengers Assemble suits- for instance, falcon has a cowl instead of a visor, thor's costume is brighter, etc.
  25. I was searching for the thread for this but couldn't find one so I made my own- Here's some custom minifigures in my Midnight Sons display: Wanda and Strange are the official ones (though I do want to get the hair with crown, the coattails, and an angry face for Wanda at some point) but the rest are custom: Moon Knight uses the CMF torso and the 2020 Black Panther head. Daredevil is using the guavian death gang body with Rocket Raccoon polybag arms and Chirrut Imwe's head. If anyone has any suggestions for a head to represent wearing the cowl, let me know. Magik uses the 2020 game black widow torso- she definitely needs some work. As is the hair is doing most of the heavy lifting for recognizability. Punisher uses a Sons of Garmadon torso to get the skull without the more expensive official torso. I also think it's a solid modernization/closer to the netflix version to have the skull on a coat and not spandex. Elsa Bloodstone uses a backwards Shang-Chi torso. I also made a John Walker figure: This uses the back of the Iron Skull torso. It still doesn't really work- it looks too much like armor, and the ultron helmet hides his mouth- but I can't find better options for him.
