LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

Scout Troopers appeared in 1999 and 2000, but like you say, either way this is a crazy thing to happen. The first year- in the entire life of the theme- that no imperial troopers from the OT appear in a single retail set. This is fair. I will say I think your iconicity point is actually the other way around- we've seen in the past that making the big sets less iconic things leads to poor results, whereas smaller sets have a larger margin of people who might not be as familiar with the ship but still pick it up- but it's a moot point as I think the U-wing is known well enough and fits the rebel design scheme well enough that a $100 set would be fine. That said, I'm sure lego was just told "Make a set for andor" and some exec picked the $70 price point off which the specific model was then chosen, so I'd rather we get this than no U-wing at all. Though a TIE Avenger could also have worked... A very strange choice- though to be honest, the early years of lego star wars were an interesting selection. Why did we get Vader's TIE before a normal one, for instance? I want to make clear that- unless more images show that the U-wing is either tiny or looks awful from other angles- I think it's a good set, and while I won't personally get it as I own the 2016 one I'm glad it's on shelves. But it is ABSURD that this theme has reached a point where no OT imperial troopers appear in retail sets this year. -

Lost the same way Yavin and the "death star playset" fig counts were. They really did go all-out on dedra, happy for you. Assumably either A: Lego originally intended that to be the figure setup but as we've seen a couple times before now, dropped the fig count before release B: Someone mistook the unhelmeted stormtrooper for a normal one and assumed "they wouldn't just have one stormtrooper in the set" Cautiously optimistic. This is a bad angle for the ship but the value doesn't look bad, and from what I can see the ship seems good. 3 figures and a droid in a $70 set isn't great but it's not terrible, especially when as I said the ship seems fairly sizeable for $70. One note though- with the exclusion of the stormtroopers, this is the first year in the 26-year history of the theme that none of the Original Trilogy imperial troopers (Storm, Snow, Scout, Sand) have appeared in a standard retail set. This is the first time (with the possible exception of 2022- who's only stormtrooper inclusion was in a multipack rerelease so it's a bit of a grey area) since 2018 that a normal stormtrooper has not appeared in a standard retail set. We aren't exactly being given the most flattering angles here but I wouldn't count it out yet. For one thing, it's $10 cheaper than the 2016 model was at retail discounting inflation, or $35 cheaper than it would be after accounting for inflation. At least the smaller size corresponds to a significantly lower pricetag. -

Yeah- a lot of people aren't fans, but I really enjoyed them. Lots of character differences are due to differences between the original toy and cartoon. Things like Bumblebee's mask, character colors, etc. I do like your idea that in-universe Optimus's standard paint job includes white that over time flakes away in battle to become more grey, though. -

I'll give you Thor but I don't see an issue printing the wings on the existing Captain America head. I guess Ant-Man would need one too, you're right about that. I agree it won't be as soon as this november or something but unless we have a fairly large gap without modulars I'm just not sure what else it would be. I think they'll want to wait to gauge the Fantastic Four's success before a Baxter Building Modular- and any sort of figure buildup would need to be put into the works before the movie releases. Any overlap with the tower the Mansion would have would be significantly worse with a compound set. And they just took Oscorp off the table. The only other thing I could think of is an assembly square style collection of smaller buildings (Nelson and Murdock, The Midnight Mission, Heroes for Hire, etc) It's really unfortunate. I still can't understand how a group of designers that needs every other set to be a vehicle for a hero who doesn't need one looks at a scene that has like 50 vehicles and goes "no, grey slab" At least the spider-man set needed to repeat a character because, I mean, it's spider-man. There is no reason to repeat a character in two complementary sets based on the scene in the MCU with the most named characters unless you can't be bothered to shell out on two more prints. -

I don't actually know that an avengers mansion build would look all that similar to the X-mansion. Like sure they're both mansions but that's about it. The Avengers Mansion has had enough different versions that you could avoid using the same colors, and the structure is often a pretty different shape due to it's city location, more in line with the geometry of a standard modular than the X-mansion. Agreed that new molds wouldn't be an issue- Hawkeye's really the only one who would need one, maybe Quicksilver's hair? Wouldn't a MCU avengers compound have if anything a larger overlap issue than the mansion? Not only is it a number of the same characters, it's the same versions of the characters in similar or the same costumes. I'm not saying we're secretly getting one in november. The idea would be a January wave with a number of comic-based avengers sets would lead up to it, similarly to how the Bugle used a lot of spider man characters from sets released slightly earlier. I'm also not saying that I think it for sure WILL happen, just that I'd like it to and think there's at least some chance. Because for Secret Invasion to have an impact people would have to have watched it. (But seriously- do you really think enough people watched and hated secret invasion for it to tank the franchise that much? If you really think the first one got to $1.1 billion purely on it's own merits, how would that have gone down to a quarter because of Secret Invasion unless secret invasion secretly got a TON of views.) It also came out immediately before the second highest grossing movie ever made and was marketed with the implication that Captain Marvel would be important in Endgame. You cannot take external factors into account for the second film's failure but ignore them for the first film's success. I also doubt that everybody loved captain marvel, but then saw Monica or Ms. Marvel and went "yeah no I hate this side character so much that I'm not gonna watch the movie." If everybody loved Brie's Captain Marvel, people would have shown up for the movie. It would never have made as much as the first one since it wasn't immediately before endgame, but it wouldn't have been the biggest flop in the MCU. -
Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion

Always glad to see a new transformers fan. There are many versions of the lore. Just like DC, where there are multiple batmans- one of whom can have a shadow box, while the other might meet the ninja turtles- there are different iterations of the transformers. Transformers One is one of my favorites, but so far it's only got the one movie. I'd suggest checking out the Generation One cartoon, which is what most of the sets are based on, and includes the movie you linked. Some other shows I've liked are Transformers Prime (free on youtube) and the War for Cybertron Trilogy (on Netflix). Optimus Prime is Blue, Red, and White in the G1 cartoon, but his toy was Blue, Red, and grey. As a result newer toys alternate between grey and white. -
You shouldn't have asked me this question, I've written waaaaaayyy too much about how I'd make a new DC universe, here's just my phase one copypasted here; Alright, I've been given the floor, we're gonna have to work fast. First of all we're going to heavily market SUPERMAN as the START of the DCU, and we're gonna make a few changes to it. First of all, we're gonna alter Lex a bit to initially have nothing against superman in this movie. We'll develop that later but plenty of DC villains are generational level haters for no reason, let's at least give Lex a reason that makes sense to him. Next up we're going to cut Nathan Fillion's Guy from this film but promise him he'll have the role of Hal later on. Alright, now we've got to fast-track development for our new slate. Luckily I've got some synopses here for us: 2026: Batman: Without Fear: Batman, just a few months into his crusade, is focused on taking down the mob. The mob hires Scarecrow, the first supernatural-seeming villain in Gotham, to kill Batman, but his tactics spook them, and many are uncomfortable with using a “freak”. Batman defeats Scarecrow (who we never see outside of his costume) and stems the flow of the mob, though they of course are still around. Minor Dick Grayson Robin setup, as the mob killing circus performers is mentioned and at the end, Bruce adopts Dick. A gritty tone, but not as grounded as the Nolan or Reeves films, and more heroic than noir. The only post credits scene is Maroni and Falcone, opposing crime family heads, meeting, saying they’re going to have to up their game if these freaks are here to stay. 2027: The Flash: Fastest Man Alive: Flash origin story and fight against Captain Cold and his Rogues, though Cold is the only one with a special weapon, stolen from STAR labs. (Barry gives him the name captain cold, and he hates it.) A more lighthearted story about Barry learning responsibility. His mother’s death is referenced, but his father isn’t in prison. Post credits where Batman takes note of Flash’s existence while watching monitors in the batcave, and says he handled the Cold situation “adequately”. Wonder Woman: Wonder Woman is introduced as having lived in the outside world for some time, but not having been involved since WW2, and having faded into legend. An archeological finding reveals to her the work of the Greek gods in modern day, and she has a god-of-war style gauntlet set of fights against some of the minor ones, like Dionysis and Aphrodite, through their avatars. The tone is heavily action-focused. Post Credits of batman noting that she may be a good place to start the Legion Contingency. TV: Detective Comics: John Jones: A gritty detective drama featuring John Jones, aka The Martian Manhunter. He solves crimes while also keeping his true identity secret. He uses his telepathy in places, but doesn't fully transform until the end, when a murderer they’re hunting turns out to be a White Martian and kills his partner. Batman shows up in the final scene and he and John have a tense conversation about these white martians. 2028: Superman vs Lobo: The main villain is the bounty hunter Lobo, sent to abduct Superman. This Lobo is all business, an unkillable terminator with machine-like precision. Luthor helps Superman defeat Lobo- who due to the damage sustained in the battle gains a personality more similar to what he's now known for-, but upon learning that Lobo’s carnage was due to hunting Superman, he gets into a shouting match with him and they cut ties with each other. This Lex's hatred of superman is born from the idea that Superman is attracting metahuman and alien threats, supported by the idea that superman was the first metahuman to publicly appear in the modern era. The first post credits is Braniac, noting that his hunter couldn’t collect, and deciding that perhaps he will leave the kryptonian alone for the time being, though he will continue to monitor him. After all, he already has one… as it pans to Kara in stasis. The second post credits is Luthor, angry that he was “misled into thinking superman was truly a hero”, but noting that “some good may come of all this”, as he holds a vial of supes’s blood collected from the final fight with Lobo. TV: Lanterns: After Hal discovers a dying Abin Sur, he, Jon, and Guy (Hal was selected by Abin with the other two located via an algorithm the guardians created to determine willpower) are abducted and taken to Oa to train as lanterns, with the training forming the majority of the show. They learn that the Guardians know White Martians are invading earth, and plan to let them do it and quarantine the solar system rather than risk Lanterns in a war. This is why they took multiple to train as lanterns. Hal escapes to earth, Guy is caught, and Jon is left on Oa with the guardians believing he agrees with them, when he’s really on Earth's side. JLA: Invasion: Crossover against a White Martian invasion. Team lineup is Batman, Superman, WW, Flash, Hal, and the Martian Manhunter. The League doesn't officially form Batman shares his suspicions with John that the white martians weren’t invading earth for conquest, but fleeing something else. TV: Detective Comics: The Question: A second season of detective comics starring the question, investigating, among other things, a government project to create metahumans. Batman and Huntress have supporting roles, and when Batman appears, we learn he’s taken on Robin as an apprentice.

Sure, but my point is just that regardless of how they look, they were based on onscreen media. With how accurate a lot of these costumes get, I don't think the issue is something with the look of the comic costumes, I think it's that disney/lego wants the CMF to tie into new/upcoming projects. I'd love a comic based CMF but we're now 3 for 3 on them being based on recent onscreen media for marvel. Exactly. It's deeply ironic too- the theme that feels the need to make every other set a spider-man car instead of involving new york locations makes a set based on a scene with plenty of vehicles and large creatures, and decides to make grey rubble. Yeah I have no idea what the plan was with all that, she comes off much worse in wandavision than I think was intended, and then obviously she's straight up evil in MoM. It's the parallax thing all over again, and should have been solved the same way- they just have Dr. Strange find out in MoM that in the grief of having to destroy the hex, Cython possessed her. But as with parallax, doing it after the fact feels cheap. -
Not the exact same thing but I've been reading the 2021 Moon Knight run and his... sidekick? Rival? Brother? Hunter's Moon dies and is then brought back offscreen less than a single issue after his death. It's like a minor inconvenience. It wasn't a fakeout death, he had a ton of crowbars sticking out of his body, he just gets revived almost immediately and Moon Knight treats it as essentially a minor inconvenience since, well, he's brought back almost immediately. That's such a puzzling decision. I feel like usually they're about the same age.

I think so. They're the only figure-specific molds created for SW that haven't been retired yet, and like you said, they're showing their age. I think by 2030 it's not altogether unlikely we see a new model with separated legs. -
Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I've been advocating for the Mansion since Oscorp was removed as an option. I would be very excited to see one. I wouldn't say that. The '97 characters were based on the '97 series, not the comics specifically. They look pretty much indistinguishable, but they're based on '97. It'd be like saying What If spider-man is a theme park based character. The design is pretty much the same, but we all know he's based on what if. As for Werewolf by Night, I think it's significantly more likely that lego just... got a different piece of concept art than what ended up being in the color version of the special than that they intentionally changed the colors of an MCU figure's pants. (And it's still the MCU bloodstone- I think it's pretty clear it's an MCU figure who just happened to be based on concept art.) Yeah sure she's probably still alive in the "nobody dies in comics" way but they did kill the character off, this is splitting hairs. My point is that whether she's resurrected or just revealed to have survived, they aren't going to just plop her in an avengers movie out of nowhere. Usually there's at least some fanfare to bringing back a dead character. Exactly (I'm still kicking myself for not ponying up for that 2021 endgame set...) It is really strange to me that they're obsessed with recreating the endgame finale yet simultaneously allergic to all the stuff we actually want from it. And that they keep just doing the compound or rubble when there are still vehicles they could do- even putting aside the manned stuff that's from more obscure factions like the Sakaaran ships or Ravager flying bikes, why are we not getting the Chitauri vehicles? They did a Leviathan recently (even if a bigger one would be nice) but the chitauri had hovertanks. They wanted Falcon in the set, what about the only shot of him fighting that I remember, where he stabs a big gorilla thing? Where are the chitauri gorillas, lego? Was rubble more interesting to kids in the playtesting? I was lucky enough that lego sent me the Spider-Verse deli for free, and I have to say aside from the price it really is a nice set. The car is well made and it's just nice to see more civilian things in general in this theme. I also like that Miles's face print has the shoulda touch face, that's a funny detail. My only gripes from the set aside from the price would be that ATSV Miles's minifigure is so odd I'm wondering if they deliberately sabotaged it to have a more accurate one in the CMF. It looks like he's wearing the Blue Beetle. As for the price, I feel like I'd be able to stomach $50 if they either significantly beefed up the bodega and added the owner, or added a street lamp and hex portal with a well-detailed 2099. I will say I think it's unlikely Peter's apartment is meant to go on top of the deli. The deli has a 6x14 rooftop footprint. Either that apartment is tiny, or it's gonna have crazy overhang/the set falls over when combined. -

Completely agree. At the end of the day it's still a toy company. I wasn't aware of that, but that's good to know. Sure, but that's not really how licensing works. It's not like they fork over cash to the governments of the countries using Ospreys in their militaries. They'd give money to Boeing for licensing the search-and-rescue craft, and while the past couple years have shown it's probably smart to avoid licensing Boeing products for other reasons, it's not like the company's primarily known as a military contractor. I'm not gonna go look through every licensed technic set but I can't imagine with all the big motor companies they've licensed they've somehow managed avoiding anyone who does ancillary military vehicles. -
DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Lego's policy is very clearly not to make sets for R-rated (Or the equivalents: TV-MA and M for games) content. -Like you said, Echo was a mistake. The figure had already been created by the time that change came out -Indiana Jones is not and never has been rated R. Temple of doom is responsible for the creation of PG-13 as a rating, but beforehand it was going to be PG, not R. And most of lego's licensed movie themes are for PG-13 content. -Stranger things isn't TV-MA, it's TV-14. Just like how Dune is pretty mature but PG-13. They have a line and they won't cross it. -The BvS sets weren't based off the ultimate edition but the theatrical version - I doubt lego was even AWARE of the ultimate edition when they made the sets. This would be like saying the Justice League 2017 sets are basically R-rated because of the Snyder Cut. -The 18+ line does not mean lego can produce sets based on 18+ properties. This has been pretty clear. We know it gives them a bit more leeway, enough to get comic versions of characters associated with an r-rating in onscreen media, but it didn't result in a policy change for lego. If they changed their rule to allow sets based on R/TV-MA/M properties back in 2020, we would have seen a BEVY of licenses for the most famous movies like that come out. We CERTAINLY would have had an 18+ Deadpool and Wolverine set at the very least. Lego's policy has always been pretty clear on this. No sets for R/TV-MA/M movies/shows/games. Doesn't matter if it's the equivalent rating in another country, or if it's TV-14 but "close" to TV-MA, or whatever, we know where the line is and that they won't cross it. I don't know what makes the policy "so called", either. As for the military one, I would disagree on that too, although it's Moreso just disagreement rather than "you're incorrect" because it's just your opinion. (Though again I don't understand why it's a "so-called" policy. It's a rule they have. I'm not sure what would make it illegitimate.) I completely respect that a toy company doesn't want to make toys about real wars. I don't necessarily agree with every decision that stems from that policy- I think the search-and-rescue Osprey was fine, for instance, but I respect the general policy. -

Yeah, just because he's their only real popular option, but at the same time if he can't show up to set he can't be the star. This isn't Mando, they can't just plop a stunt double down for most of the movie. Yeah. Out of the people who can realistically be the lead he's the only choice (besides if Tom Holland starts working 24/7), but even then I don't think he's a good choice to be the star of Avengers 5, just the best one they have. Am I missing something? Did she come back? Isn't she dead? I don't think doomsday is going to start with Dr. Strange pulling her out of the rubble of the castle and going "wow Wanda it's a miracle you survived that". Obviously it's marvel and nobody really dies until they want to stop playing the character, but at the same time they're not just going to plop her back on the team with no buildup. Don't hate the helmet piece but it is crazy that he had leg printing on previous minifigures and they took it away. And Spider-Man's had a rough time of too, same with the broken shield- honestly at that point just include the normal shield and let people cut it up with scissors because this attempt doesn't make the shield look broken but now it can't even be used as a normal one. Why would Falcon need an alternate head/hair? Just for no goggles? Agree about ant man though, especially since he and Peter will probably end up sharing the same head again (one that doesn't fit either of them). Yeah that's either a BS answer or the skill level of their designers have plummeted. You're telling me it was just too hard to get the bow to work so you cut the full minifigure? Sure.... (If this was the only reason it'd be the perfect opportunity for them to have finally made Ronin and just given him a sword- but again, that's clearly not the real reason.) -
Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
See and the thing is even your list- which I think is one of the best they can make with their current characters- is comprised either of people who I don't think are good picks for avengers or people who are unlikely to have a major role in the film: -SamCap has been pretty conclusively shown to not be a character the audience is all that invested in. -Spider-Man's involvement isn't going to be all that major unless Tom Holland starts working 24/7 -Scarlet Witch is currently dead and I don't think any pre-Doomsday projects seem all that likely to bring her back -Kate, while she doesn't really fit agewise as a Young Avenger anymore, still wouldn't fit great as a normal avenger yet either IMO. -Daredevil and Moon Knight (At least, comic moon knight) are my two favorite marvel characters but they aren't really avengers mainstays, and overall everyone on the team aside from Scarlet Witch (who is dead) gets folded by doom like he's XP farming. As for Thor and Hawkeye, due to out-of-universe reasons I'm not sure Thor will show up, and I'm fairly confident Hawkeye won't. Both characters are in a place to be reasonably out of the game and I don't think either actor seems particularly keen on returning to the MCU for doomsday unless I missed a recent interview. Another reason I think they're going with - the person they seem to be going with. He's the only remaining guy besides spider-man that's rumored to actually show up who could be a leading man. I still don't think it works though. -

The only time I can think of two of the same minifigure (Representing the same character) in a set was two Captain Americas in the Avengers Tower, but even then there was a lore reason for two identical Caps to be in a scene. I always felt like that info sounded a bit unsure. -
Marvel Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I was just assuming it was the only one who's in multiple of the pictures. Like you say it's concept art those could be his only two scenes in the film, but it is funny. As much as I'd hate to dunk on the genius behind the masterstroke of complex design that is 6784, man, either he REALLY likes mechs or lego's only assigning him them. But look Junya's just one person, he already was dealt the killing blow that was Ransom Fern making an objectively better Hulkbuster using only the parts in his set. (Just to be clear since the 6784 thing is obviously a joke, I've got nothing against Junya, who I'm sure IS just getting assigned all these mechs, even if the UCS Hulkbuster thing was probably somewhat embarrassing.) I was gonna say I don't think Captain Marvel's rumored to show up at all anymore I thought I heard Brie was done. (Good, IMO. I've read Captain Marvel -as Carol- comics I liked, I've seen Brie Larson in movies where she's done a good job, but I never thought she did all that well as the character.) My guess is they're still trying to find what team to assemble, because there's precisely one (1) character in the concept art- at least in that set of the concept art if you know what I mean- who people would legitimately by hyped to see. Nobody's popping off over the guy he's sitting next to in the piece of art with just the two of them or the people around him in the other piece of concept art. (Also if someone finds out how to do spoilers on here now that the update took the button away, PLEASE let me know, I cannot figure it out) -

I think the assumption was that whether it's a UT-AT or RFT it comes with galactic marines. I always assumed that they saw a picture of the parts list or something- we've seen those leak before, and it would make sense that someone sees some parts for imperial figures alongside a lot of grey bricks and goes "death star playset" The death star WOULD have been in development back then but based on the fact that Cal was almost always rumored to be part of the "death star playset" and it was initially rumored to be around $200, I can't imagine a prototype for the $1000 death star would have been mistaken for it. I don't think so. While overpriced, the Sarlacc Pit and Skiff isn't double the cost it should be- it just has an unnecessarily large sarlacc pit. The original falcon would be over $180 today adjusted for inflation- it's not like lego just doubled the price for no reason. Even in the 2025 landscape, even with a few more figs, I can't see the RFT being DOUBLE it's inflation-adjusted price. -

This set is a psyop to get people to view the civil war set more favorably and buy it. Ant-Man is new too, but that's still 2/10, which is incredibly tough. And yeah, the builds are horrific. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd say I wanted lego marvel to have a vehicle and not a background build, but when your set's background is a grey floor... Even discounting the Leviathan or a true giant man, what about one of those big chitauri gorillas? You've got falcon here, the only time I remember seeing him in the fight itself is when he killed that thing, why is that not a build? The Chitauri had these sick tanks that looked like if you make a TX-130 from star wars out of spiky bones, I've wanted a set of that since 2019. Why is it that all the comic sets are made up vehicles instead of the cityscape, but when they're covering a movie with plenty of vehicles and large creatures, we get a grey slab? Still can't find how to use spoilers on the new version of the site, but the one thing I'll say outside that is it's readily apparent how strapped they are for good characters if their main hero for an avengers movie is that guy. I like him, but he's not a good choice for the leader of the avengers, and it's almost laughable to see the team being assembled to (assumably) fight Doom. That won't be a battle, it'll just be Doom XP farming. Avengers Doomsday is just a simplified mob grinder. -

I don't understand the comparison- Moon Knight and Moon Girl are completely unrelated characters. I don't know if they've ever even met- maybe a family-friendly MK's shown up in her show or something but she's definitely not in the Moon Knight comics AFAIK. It's not like Moon Girl is a multiversal variant of MK or they're both powered by khonshu or something. The shadow box had a pretty solid PPP but also was like 80% basic bricks, so I do think your "it's just really overpriced there's nothing special" thing is probably true. It's entirely possible, I've been saying lego batman's 4+ sets are the only things stopping it from being brought into icons, but if Mattel's got a competitor brand coming up and gets the license too, lego DC is cooked.
