LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

The point is, it doesn't matter what reason they choose to do something moral, it's that the market and the people encouraged a moral action. (Or what the people claimed was moral, honestly I don't see a problem.) I agree that at the end of the day they'll do what makes them the most money, my point is more so that the "system we live in" makes it so the most money can be gained by doing more moral things than not. This means that while prices will increase, they lose financially by making things crazy expensive (think of snoke's throne room, or heck, grievous's starfighter hasn't sold well from what i've seen) But anyway, I've gone off-topic far enough. (In fact, by mentioned the osprey I've created multiple completely unrelated-to-the-topic posts, apparently ) Why is this list taking so long to leak? Most other themes have, and I believe someone mentioned a leaker said they'd seen it? -

And I assume that's why we get sets like the tatooine battle pack, too. If you just repeat the same figs in a battle pack, they won't sell as well. And if i remember correctly technic and creator usually leak pretty early on, too. Eh, I suppose we'll see it soon enough. This is a common fallacy. Not to get too philosophical or geopolitical, but Lego 100% has reasons to act moral, because if they act immoral people would stop buying from them and they'd lose sales. (Also, because the company is made up of humans just like us, which people too often forget) To use an example I don't even personally agree with, lego cancelled the osprey after models were sent to retailers just because a group said they were breaking their moral standard of no modern military sets. Cancelling a large set that far into production, not just losing the potential sales of the set but having the scrap the already-produced copies and most likely having to refund the retailers that bought them, that definately cost them a lot. Think about it this way: say january 2022 the battle packs are $30. And not like the 501st packs where they added extra figures and a lot more bricks; it's just, say, the 2017 rebel battle pack but $30. Sure, they'll make more profit per copy sold, but you think that set's going to sell even remotely well? -
What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Mandalorianknight replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Are the four you mentioned ones you have, or ones you're considering? If you already have those, I'd suggest seppies (you can mass B1s at a super low cost, in some places the medium blaster is more expensive than the droid), just to go against the 501st, or rebel troopers, as it's easy and cheap to mass the 08 rebel scout trooper or some of the endor troopers, and you can make a lot of cool special units by mixing parts. Of course, it's a good idea to wait until january leaks in case there's a bp of dark troopers or something. If those are the ones you're considering, this is most likely going to be the best time to mass 501st troopers for the next decade or so, and the rebels stormtroopers are by far the cheapest ones to mass, or at least the cheapest with leg printing. Yeah, I remember the newer AT-STs have some weird technique in the legs that felt illegal to me when I built it. A nice model overall, though. -

I think the point was more so that we got 3 first order battle packs in the span of a two years or so, and wanted to army-build actual stormtroopers. Most people did like TFA before TLJ came out, and people were hyped for TLJ itself before it released, so it would only have been the January 2018 pack that was in danger of sales based on film reception. But if you wanted to army-build troopers, you didn't need three packs. And then we get into composition: The first one had two stormtroopers, one of which was wearing the straps thing, an officer, and a technician. The second had two stormtroopers, an officer, and a flametrooper, and the third had two executioners, a technician, and a shuttle pilot. If I remember correctly, at the time people grumbled about the first's composition but bought it, and then a year and a half later when the second, better for army-building pack came out, lego kind of shot themselves in the foot. Army-builders already got the 2016 battle pack or the multiple other sets the stormies and flametroopers were available in, and the only exclusive figure was an undesirable first order officer in navy blue. I definately saw that pack warming shelves, though I personally bought one myself just to get FN-2199. The third pack really didn't hold value for army builders. We only saw two of the executioners onscreen at once, the technician came in just about every set and is one of the cheapest SW minifigs on bricklink, and the shuttle pilot is just the technician with an open-faced helmet (Plus I don't think we ever actually see them in the films). So imagine it with clones: January 2022: A battle pack comes out with a p2 clone trooper, clone trooper with straps printed on the torso, unarmored clone officer, and an astromech droid. People complain about the composition, a few accusations about lego sabotaging the prequels are thrown, but most people who wanted clones buy some copies. August 2023: A battle pack releases with two p2 clone troopers, a red jet trooper, and another unarmored officer, this one with a slightly different outfit. The jet trooper and p2 clones both came in a few sets over the past year, so the only exclusive fig is the unarmored officer with a slightly different outfit. Since most people already have a substantial clone army at this point, the pack doesn't sell as well. January 2024: A battle pack releases with p2, non-arc jesse and kix, as well as an astromech droid and an unarmored clone trooper (again). Hardcore fans get one copy for Jesse and Kix. TLDR: Lego shot themselves in the foot with composition and repetition. -

IDK, the bottom is a bit off, but the "cheeks" and top are great for a republic commando, and the back is closer to the RC helmet back than the new iron man one. Either would still be subpar to a new mold though, I think they'd bite the bullet and just give them one were they to appear in a set. Holy megablocks I've been calling it pentaki for years. Alright, next up is an ANH list: Microfighters: Tantive IV ($9.99): Captain Antilles Death Star ($9.99): Moff Tarkin X-wing vs TIE advanced ($9.99): Luke Skywalker (pilot) and Darth Vader. Battle Packs: Rebel Fleet ($14.99): 4x rebel fleet trooper. Build is a bit of the Tantive Hallway. Death Star troopers ($14.99): 2x stormtrooper, 2x navy trooper. Build is a turbolaser turret. Duel: Jedi Sacrifice ($19.99): Death star hallway build slightly elevated, with a trapdoor-like function for Ben Kenobi to disappear. Comes with Vader and Ben Kenobi. System sets: Lars Homestead ($34.99): The iconic hut, as well as a brick-built bantha and moisture vaporator. Comes with Luke, Uncle Owen, Aunt Beru, and a Tusken Raider. Rescuing the princess ($49.99): A tall build with the detention center (console and leia's cell) built above the trash compacter (with a closing walls function), with an opening chute to connect them. Comes with Leia, Stormtrooper Han, Stormtrooper Luke, Chewbacca, and a black-suited imperial officer. Y-wing starfighter ($69.99): A Y-wing (slightly larger than the 2017 model) with Dutch Vander, Dex Tiree, a rebel astromech droid, Han Solo, and a Stormtrooper. Trench Run ($119.99): X-wing (between 2018 and 2021 models in terms of size) and TIE advanced (a bit bigger than the 2016 model). Comes with Luke Skywalker (pilot), Biggs Darklighter, Wedge Antilles, R2-D2, a rebel astromech, Lord Vader (arm printing), a TIE pilot, Grand Moff Tarkin, and a stormtrooper. UCS/MBS: UCS Tantive IV ($499.99): Huge Tantive IV with interior hallway, cockpit, meeting room, and "you're my only hope" area, as well as a detachable escape pod. While he wasn't the first, he was the most vocal, had the most reach, and was the most...shall we say...intense. Luckily they did confirm that the normal battlepacks are returning, so I'm not worried about that. I'm too lazy to link it but there's a thread somewhere where @Per_SW and later, I, built random 501st ground vehicles out of spare battle packs, as well as modding the AT-RT and BARC. -
Star Wars TIE Fighter collection MOC
Mandalorianknight replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks, Broadside! I must say I'm a fan of your AT-RT as well, I especially liked the leg greebling. I agree that it's a shame lego never released the other main OT fighters in the same style. No problemo, I get it. Just PM me your email address and I can send you the Stud.io file over gmail. Goes for everyone, actually. PM me your email and I'll send you the file for the interceptor so you can build it for free. By the way, I did some minor interceptor mods for stability when turning the model from physical back to a digital moc. The asthetic change is very minor, but here it is. Some other notes: It can be swooshed when held from the cockpit, but I wouldn't shake it too hard or you'll misalign the wings. Also bc of the wings, a stand of some sort would be helpful if you want to display it with the cockpit parallel to the ground instead of it resting on the longer, angled wing sections. Stud.io is weird with part stress and rotations and thinks that angled grey bits on the wings are physically impossible. They aren't, though the wingtips might angle slightly (I'm talking like literally 3 degrees) depending on the condition and clutch power of the 1x1 plates used. Thank you, here's your landing craft! First off, I love the lower guns, they were fun to design and are a cool greeble for the ship. Other points: The boarding shuttle's cockpit extends slightly farther than the bomber's, and there's a few other minor changes like the cockpit top and main hull greebling. Obviously the main one is the extended second hull. I wanted to change the "face" of the second hull more as well, but I was unable to find a way to "flatten" it without removing any semblance of detail. -

I should also point out that he's just the most profilic, but tons of people flood #legoleaks and make clickbait videos, it's just that he's actually become successful doing that. The reason we all go after mandr instead of pongkrellhater501 or darthjarjar212 is because people actually see his posts, and he was influential enough to get a set made that wasn't even a fan vote (501). (though now that I've made up those usernames, I wouldn't mind a darth jar jar or death of pong krell set) Good point. Rey does have fans, but the little girls dressing up as her aren't the ones purchasing retired lego sets online, I suppose. I know this is a joke but I was suddenly struck with the horrifying thought of a set releasing on eurobricks, given how fast lego's servers crash with new sets and how often eurobricks crashes without... -

TIL my boba fett brickheadz I got for $10 to bump my lego order up for the GWP back in 2018 is now worth nearly $40. I doubt Ahsoka will have the same shelf life as Grogu, especially as a special edition set, but I don't think it'll be as tough to obtain as the original ones were. (the more I look at brickhead prices, the weirder it is. Rey and kylo are worth less than retail price, but ones like boba are 400%+ price increases secondhand) "interview" with a fake lego designer that admits to hacking the site to avoid a jar jar brickheadz should upload within a day, lol. Still find that "LeGo ThInKs StAr WaRs FaNs aRe DuMb" title with that thumbnail hilarious, I haven't watched it but I can infer the content. -
That's inspired, though unfortunately azog is kinda rare. (his hand alone sells for $13...megablocking insane) Good idea, let's try that out. Ok, so here's all the mods, with the echo arm suggestion by @Kettchy. I personally like the bounty hunter shoulders for hunter better (in the second image), but the ninjago armor in the first does come in gunmetal and is a more accurate shape, I guess, so I thought I'd show it off. Unlike the rest of the batch, I didn't give hunter a backpack because it makes him look weirdly tall and like he has a long neck if the shoulder armor is added as well.

Mandalorianknight replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'd wait, as the 2022 leaks will be any day now and worst case scenario they aren't in it and you just wait a bit before getting the shuttle (maybe at a discount even). If you haven't army built any of the 4-9 major factions (Clones, Seps, Rebels, Empire, Resistance, First Order, Jedi, Hunters/criminals, mandalorians), I'd go for some of those. (Personally I don't have many FO or Resistance troops, though). Hunters/scum and mandalorians are fun to mass as you can bricklink varied parts for them and create purist customs for standard mandalorian warriors or hutt cartel soldiers. -
Anyone got any tips for Omega, or purist bad batch upgrades? So far I've got: Omega: Midi legs, cloud car pilot torso with DBG arms, Leia's head and Farmboy Luke's hair. Hunter: Overall the same, but I gave him black shoulder pads (From the CMF bounty hunter), as I thought it was a big part of his armor. I also gave him a gold knife for his vibroblade and a double barreled gun with a 1x1 open stud at the end for his commando blaster Wrecker: Only change was giving him the above commando blaster Echo: Added a black Kama Tech: Swapped his pistols out for the old pistol design, which is the same shape but smaller. Crosshair: added a backpack.

This is actually really interesting, as I had originally assumed they just slapped a name on the imperial protocol droid, but as it turns out it's the first lego-specific star wars minifigure in 7 years. putting a veers watch-ish face print on a snowtrooper is all I'm asking for! Ofc it's never going to happen, as it's a crazy request, but imagine if they did! I agree with almost all of this...but...don't kill me... I don't own a rebel snowspeeder anymore.... -

Well I mean, they did a clone battle pack that everyone was asking for, and the UCS gunship was voted for. It's not like they don't listen to fans. Plus it'd be the skywalker homestead, maybe the most iconic building in star wars, before a fourth system gunship or at-te, doesn't sound so bad to me. Can't wait to see the next wave! I'm hoping that the battle packs make a triumphant return, maybe with some...dark troopers? -

Thank you! Any suggestions for future craft? I'm going to do the boarding shuttle and then the Nu-class clone shuttle otherwise. Thank you! I tried flipping the wing orientation so the anti-studs were on the inside, but it looked weirder to me, and I figured one side had to be antistuds. Holy megablocks, I just realized they made that 1x3 anti-tile for unakitty, and it comes in LBG! Combined with the 2x2 anti-tiles in black, I could do that for the bomber! Thank you! Construction will begin next week, I'm out of town for a couple more days. Sorry, I just realized I didn't answer half your questions: I think they can be hung by wires? I wouldn't put them on the wingtips only, but the cockpits are definitely sturdy enough. I'm going to put my interceptor MOC back into-stud.io on Monday (I lost the file for it somehow but luckily I have a physical model.). Once finished I'll release the .io file for free, which would allow you guys to get both the parts list and a digital model that can by used as instructions by entering "step view". After that, I'm going to try to figure out page-by-page instructions for the other ships, which I would try to sell. -

Also means bionicle (or to keep this remotely on topic, future CCBS star wars figures) is completely in the grave, they'd have to create an absurd number of new molds to revive it. In terms of star wars figures, it's fine by me, I never got why those existed. They were like the worst of both worlds between lego minifigures and black series figures. It's an odd choice to have the speeders included (mainly for playability for kids I'm guessing), but then to make the ship difficult for kids to hold and super easy to break. Still a good set IMO, but could have been improved (and I certainly will be attempting to improve it.). One thing I do like is that it's really easy to get room for a fifth figure, all you need to do is remove the 1x2 plate with hinge and the connected subassembly, and then bam, room for Omega to sit (or stand, depending on whether you're using short or medium legs). I'm planning on completely changing the main hull to fit 5-6 figures plus gonky, as well as connect the fin in a different spot (maybe with technic). I feel like this would have increased sales, as most people who say the gunship is their favorite are referring to the clone wars variant. (Plus, what's the point of an assault craft if it's not even spaceworthy?!?) -

I gave my maul figure the longer hilt (Dark bluish gray off bricklink), I like it. His lightsaber is already pretty long, the extra few millimeters off the hilt don't make a huge difference, but it looks kind of nice for him to have a different hilt. Rumor has it the CCBS parts are being retired. The main CCBS bone hasn't been used since the last star wars CCBS in early 2018. And almost all the Bionicle parts are definitely gone, aside from maybe the Bohrok and Barraki eyes (which have just become standard system/technic parts). -

Apparently it's not real, which doesn't bode well for me getting a finch dallow. (but does bode well for you selling it for $500) I had a similar moment the other day when I found out the black-suit imperial officer is worth $70. It's a cool figure, but it's not cooler than the mando fighter, or two-thirds of the bb shuttle. Bit of a leap in logic, don't ya think? There are other reasons it could be 15, like that it's an army building set, and they didn't expect it to sell out so quickly. (Plus, they don't get more money if specific people buy 15, and with the people lamenting the decision to do that because they couldn't get any, as well as the fact that it's not that hard to bypass limits like that, and you can see that their profit wouldn't really have changed had the limit been 2 or something) I think it's a mistake for them to have made the limit 15, but I highly doubt it's some sort of maniacal greed-stricken move. -

Just finished building the gunship, it looks great! Pros: The figures look even better in person. While you can see a few light mods (different weapons, Echo's Kama), the figures are still great as-is, some of the best lego's made in system sets. It's also great to get the whole batch (except omega, who lego likely wasn't informed of until the set was finalized) in a single set. The build is very smooth, and I was impressed by some techniques used to get various angles correct. The speeders are nice additions, I especially like the Imperial one. The extra Wrecker armor is also very nice. Oh, and it's super easy to get room for a fifth figure, there's a small subassembly on the interior that's very easy to remove. Cons: The shuttle is pretty small for a $100 set. I have it's wings splayed to make it not seem dwarfed by it's adjacent sets (ghost and falcon). Other than that, it's just nitpicks. Hunter would have benefitted from shoulder armor, crosshair needs a new helmet, and gonky is the wrong color, but again those are pretty minor. Overall, it's a really good set and I highly recommend getting it, even if the size of the shuttle is a bit small.
