  1. This might help: That could happen actually. If I had Castle, I would not complain about either Harry Potter or LOTR. If I had an original Space Theme, I would not complain about Star Wars. We have seen in the past that it is possible for those themes to coexist, and why can't they coexist now? If In-House and Licensed were equal, everyone could be satisfied.
  2. You consider The L... what?
  3. People obviously want both of them, but when one is a lot more than the other, not everyone is satisfied.
  4. I would really like to see sets based on other nations's cultures and traditions. I am personally very tried of the Creator Expert, since almost all the sets are based on American cars, buildings etc. It this way in almost all of LEGO. All those LEGO Ideas Space sets are based on American Spacecraft. Why can't we see sets based on other nations's cultures? I would really like to see a modular based off a Chinese Building. LEGO is an international company, and they should appeal to everyone, not just to Americans. I am really looking forward to seeing Chinese-based sets. There are a lot of Western traditions that Asian people could consider obscure; And we all know LEGO won't put on the market sets of that type.
  5. That is the reason I want more in-house sets.
  6. I agree with this. Even if LEGO will end sooner or later the LEGO community fan base will still exist. If the company will end, we could just buy the old sets that were made up to that point on Bricklink or eBay. This is pretty much what happened to Bionicle. The theme ended in 2010, but the Fan Base continues to live up to today, with great Channels such as the TTV. So, even if LEGO does end, the LEGO Community will probably not.
  7. Inflation might also Lead to trouble... Am I the only one who notices How expensive the new sets are compared to the older ones? (This applies to both licensed and in-house sets)
  8. The movie was adapted from the popular video games, but like in the case of most Video Game movies, it was a huge failure with a low box office record and bad ratings. So, this is the problem with the LEGO theme: It was based on a movie that failed, and so did the LEGO theme to by not selling well. Man, why hasn't anybody brought this to discussion yet? It's an excellent point! This could indeed be an actual problem for LEGO in a few years.
  9. Want an answer? Here you go: In the early 2000's period, there were not many movies to accompany the licenses. After 2002, people lost interest in licensed sets because no movies were out for them. Just take the 2003 year of Harry Potter for example, where there were only two sets released, because the next Harry Potter movie that was supposed to come out that year was delayed for 2004. And LEGO still had to pay for the expensive licenses, and that made them lose money, therefore contributing with their financial problems. So, Star Wars may have sold better than Harry Potter, but it didn't help the company recovery. THIS. This is what I was trying to say all the time, yet everybody disagreed with me. Thank you, @icm.
  10. The thing is that the sets were out long before the movies hit theaters, and sometimes before even the first trailers even drop. At last this was the case with Prince of Persia as far as I am aware. So, probably a reason those licenses tend to fail is because they come out so early, before people even know about the movies. So, if they want those to sell better, at least launch them at the same time as the movie, not like 3 mouths earlier.
  11. This isn't the truth. The sets from "useless licenses" are bought They may be, not enough to make profit from it. Why do you think this licenses are so short lived with only one wave? Because they didn't sell well. At least this was the case with Prince of Persia, the Lone Ranger, and Angry Birds.
  12. I keep all the instructions, catalogs, etc stacked in a box.
  13. Ok, people can criticize what I am about to say, but I have the right of saying my opinion right? I just went a few days ago at my local LEGO Store and asked a employee how well has Overwatch sold so far. And he said it's sold poorly until that moment. I don't know how well it sells in other parts of the world, but it had definitely sold bad in my country so far. If LEGO keeps making all those licenses that don't really sell very well, this will eventually lead to trouble. Prince of Persia was a disaster. Angry Birds was a disaster. And I don't think Overwatch will do very well either. LEGO has to pay to get those licenses, and if they pay for them and they don't sell, they loose money. Also, that two Powerpuff Girls sets sold even worse than Overwatch. I don't know how the situation is going in other places, but it's definitely going this way in my region. And the BrickHeadz... Gosh, they made like 40 of them last year, and they didn't sell either. So, if they continue their current stage with tons of useless licenses that nobody buys and they need to pay to have them, I give them 5 years from now until they will be in financial trouble... in the best case. You can criticize me, but this is the truth, unfortunately.
  14. To bad nobody will have money to buy it at that point...
  15. Well, for the most part Nexo Knights is no way a Castle theme, so I don't think people can really complain about that. Nexo Knights clearly relates more with Ninjago and Chima rather than Castle.
  16. Interesting, yet unnecessary in my opinion. Those paper parts used as the cover for the fish are a odd choice. Maybe some people will like it, but I don't think we really needed it. 6/10 Nexo Knights
  17. I don't get why people hate Nexo Knights so much. It was a solid line, it sold well, and introduced a lot of cool pieces. I would rather have more Nexo Knights than OverWatch.
  18. No company lives forever, despite how popular it is. We just saw how Toys R'US went bankrupt last year. LEGO almost went bankrupt in 2003, but foartently it survived because of Bionicle. Something like what happened in 2003 could always happen again. What do you think? How long will the LEGO company last? Obviously we all want it to live forever, but we all know forever it's a very long time, and nothing lasts forever. Discuss!
  19. It was weird. Apparently there are some people who quite like it, but I personally don't see why. The concept though seems like a early predecessor to Chima. I get that it's a vintage theme, but it doesn't stand out for it's time. 5/10 Speaking of which... Next: Chima
  20. Wow dude! You gotta be kidding!
  21. Has anyone noticed that there is also a Ultra Agents reference Sticker? Man, this is a great set. Never have I seen so many easter eggs/references in one set. Great Review!
  22. To be honest, I don't find anything interesting about it. The first Lego movie had sets like Benny's Spaceship, Castle Cavalarity etc that made Reference to Lots of LEGO themes from Lego's History... And this is what made it stand out compared to other themes of the time. The Lego Movie 2 sets have pretty much nothing if that, except for maybe Benny's Space squad set (which is Probably the best set from the whole theme BTW) just some random odd Looking vehicles that have nothing very appealing to me. It seems that most people love them, but I personally don't find anything interesting about it. 5/10 (this means avarage) Next Theme: Unikity!
  23. 24. The parts were still compatible with Technic a little bit... I have seen some smart people who have managed to make some cool MOCs using them... So this theme has at least something good about it. But in rest, it was way to far away from the LEGO system, it looked more like some random mix n'mash action figures than LEGO. Also let's not forget how it almost killed LEGO. 1\10 Next Theme: Exo Force
  25. A Topic where you get to review a LEGO theme in a few words and submit a new theme for the next user to review. I will start, the first person will review that theme in a few words and give it a final out of 10 score, and than that person will submit another theme for review. EX: [Review of the theme in a few words] [/10 score ] [The theme the next user should review]. A few rules here: -Only full themes, (no subthemes) -Your LEGO Theme can be from any year, any period of LEGO. -Your review of the theme should not be longer than 30 words (because there are quite some people here who like long responses) -You are just supposed to review the theme according to your personal opinion, not necessary the general community opinion. -This topic is ONLY about reviewing the themes! If someone under rates your theme, we just move on, we don't start to argue about why the theme is better or worse than that person sayed. Ok, got it? So, let's start. I will start with the first theme: Hidden Side (what we know so far about it)
