LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Most of the figures in this set are frankly quite generic and uninteresting, so I don't think any of them would have a particularly big re-sell value. The figures that usually go up in value the most are either the very desirable ones (typically the licensed figures based on popular characters), or figures that have exclusive molded parts/accessories. The only one in this set that might be worth something (even though not a lot) would probably only be the golden Wu, that's about it. -

LEGO Ninjago 2021

It's not a minidoll mermaid tail... it's a minifigure mermaid tail. So no, I don't think it's from Disney princess. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
So a new mermaid tail mold just leaked online, and due to the rumor of the next Ninjago wave being underwater, I wouldn't be surprised if this new mold came from Ninjago. So if the next season is indeed set underwater, we might see mermaids in it. -
Fantasy Pirates: A LEGO World Builder Project
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Pirates
Oh, you are definitely in for a treat then! We haven't drawn the other characters yet, but I already have a design for each of them in mind... Especially the Princess character, who is going to have a unique hairstyle mold. -

Fantasy Pirates: A LEGO World Builder Project
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Pirates
You can't vote for projects, but you can still give them a like. I assume the projects that get the most likes are the ones that are most likely going to get acknowledged by LEGO, so there is a little bit of similarity to LEGO Ideas there. But thanks for commenting! I am glad you like my idea. If you want, you can follow this thread in order to see project as it progresses. -
If the people here really want to see the return of Castle in some form, the new LEGO World Builder platform is the way to go. There are already a few good Castle/Fantasy projects on the site that would be worth taking a look at: The Three Kingdoms by micromodelmaker. LEGO Enchanted Realms by princesspooka. LEGO Elios (Role Play Adventures) by joghurt89.

Fantasy Pirates: A LEGO World Builder Project
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Pirates
The captain's relation to Captain Red Beard isn't going to have any actual story relevance though... It would be just a nod to the original Pirates line, nothing more. Also, the captain looking more young was already set in stone right from the beginning, so we probably won't be giving him any sort of beard like that. (we might still do that for one of his crewmen, though). That's still a very nice drawing though! We might use it for one of the pirates in the crew, just not the captain himself. -
Do you think lego will ever realese another space theme
Lego David replied to arealhuman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Well, there is the new LEGO World Builder platform, and if the people here really want to see the return of LEGO Space in some form, this new platform is the way to go. There is already a popular project on the site called "Space Repair Garage" that apparently a former LEGO designer also contributed to: https://worldbuilder.tongal.com/world/8f50bacc-4d28-496c-8e31-7bfc4e755202?page=5 -
Fantasy Pirates: A LEGO World Builder Project
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Pirates
Update: I just wrote a draft of the main plot and history of our theme: When the great King Vasilius of the {name} kingdom dies of old age, an evil usurper brutally takes over the throne. Princess Hadriana, the rightful heir to the throne of the kingdom, is forced to flee for her life, hoping to return someday and reclaim her throne. After joining forces with the young pirate captain Judah Benbow and his band of misfit pirates, they come up with a plan to recover the legendary Heart of the Sea, an ancient mystical gemstone that can grant its user the control over the entire sea and its inhabitants.Determined to find this ancient gem, the crew will face many great dangers on their journey, fighting giant sea monsters in order to recover ancient keys, while also being chased by the usurper’s evil forces. Can this fugitive princess and her pirate friends recover the ancient gemstone in time and defeat the usurper once and for all? For centuries, the island kingdom of {name} and the underwater kingdom of {name} have lived in peace. Poseidon, the powerful king of the ocean, has offered his mermaid daughter in marriage to King Vasilius as a symbol of their alliance. But after a major disagreement between the two rulers, the two kingdoms started to distance themselves more and more from each other, until the people of those kingdoms completely forgot about the existence of their former friends. Only the kings and the elders still remembered how it was once. In the minds of the common people, the mighty underwater kingdom of Poseidon had become nothing but a fairy tale. King Vasilius and his wife lived happily together, until the queen gave birth to a little princess. But the birth had severely weakened the queen who fell ill and died. The princess grew up without a mother, and in complete ignorance about her mermaid ancestry. As Poseidon grew older and older, he decided to put all his power into a single gemstone, which contained the power to control the entire sea and the creatures living in it. Because he wanted to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, he hid the gem in a cave on a secret island, which could only be unlocked by four magical keys. Each of the four keys were given to four sea creatures: Kraken, Cetus, Megalodon, and Leviathan. The four creatures would guard the keys for eternity, unless defeated. After ruling for almost 300 years, Poseidon died of old age, with his power preserved in the gemstone. His son, Triton, succeeded the throne, but he lacked his father’s amazing powers and wisdom. If you've got any thoughts or criticisms, feel free to share them. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Lego David replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
When can we expect pictures for the 2021 Monkie Kid sets? It's weird that we already got pictures for one of the sets, but not all the other ones. -
I want to start building a Fantasy Castle army (preferably a skeleton or troll army) but it seems rather hard to find sellers on Bricklink that sell mutiple skeletons/trolls at a reasonable price. From those people out there thay have exprerince with army building, what advice could you give on how to create a Castle army on a modest budget? From what I have seen so far, it seems like buying the individual parts to make the minifigures is the cheapest way to do so.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Lego David replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Bionicle is a LEGO-owned IP, so I don't see any reason why they couldn't make it. -
Earlier today there was a discussion about the lack of Castle themes on the LEGO World Builder platform, and someone in that thread brought up Guilds of Historica, an already formed Castle world on Eurobricks that could potentially make for a fine pitch for LEGO World Builder. So I was wondering, would it be worth pitching Guilds of Historica to the LEGO World Builder platform? Or not?

lack of historic/castle themes on worldbuilder
Lego David replied to valon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think Guilds of Historica could work in a similar fashion to Legends of Chima, where you have mutliple independent factions fighting each other in a large scale war, each of them having their own motives. There are plenty of story arcs that you could create around that setup. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Eh... not really. Unlike City or Technic, where they can just keep remaking the same sets over and over again, with Ninjago they need to do something new in each wave, which they can't keep doing forever. As for the "there is nothing to suggest otherwise" comment, keep in mind that Ninjago hasn't been on the list of top selling LEGO themes for at least two years now. I don't know about you, but to me that suggests a decline in the general popularity of the theme. -
lack of historic/castle themes on worldbuilder
Lego David replied to valon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I took the time to look through the LEGO World Builder guidelines, and from what I gathered, it seems like what LEGO ultimately wants from this platform is for fans to create “the next Ninjago” to put it in their words. What exactly that means only time will tell, but my interpretation is that they want fans to create another “Big Bang” theme that could potentially replace Ninjago as the next LEGO theme to last for a decade or more. If I had to take a guess, I’d say well-developed worlds is what they are looking for. If you just created a fun little concept for a theme, LEGO might look at it and say “It’s a fun idea, but as a company we can’t justify making an entire product line out of it”. On the other hand, if they see a well-developed pitch for a vast world that they can take a lot from, I think that would have a much greater chance of being accepted as an official LEGO theme. If Guilds of Historica has the right materials in order to be pitched as a new LEGO theme (such as concept art, set designs, characters, etc) I see no reason why not. -
lack of historic/castle themes on worldbuilder
Lego David replied to valon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I am honestly very surprised at how uninterested the general AFOL community seems to be about this new platform. I even met a few people who still haven't heard about the platform yet, despite having launched almost four months ago already. There was even a topic about it made on Eurobricks, and barely anyone commented on it. It honestly baffles me how so many AFOLs keep begging LEGO for a new Castle/Pirates/Space theme, yet when the opportunity comes right in front of them, they choose to ignore it. Thankfully though, I wasn't asleep when this platform was announced, and I already assembled a team and started working on a pitch for a new LEGO Pirates theme. It may be a while until my theme is actually uploaded to the site, as we are still early in development, but when we finish, it's going to be incredible. You can follow my project as it progresses in this thread here. So yeah, if anyone here really wishes to see the return of those classic themes in some form, LEGO World Builder is the platform to use. -
Fantasy Pirates: A LEGO World Builder Project
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Pirates
The design for the main character has been finally completely finished: Pardon me, I wanted to say which, not witch. That character you commented on isn't a witch, but rather a regular female pirate, in this case the captain's sister. With that said though, might add a witch at some point in the story... -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I am not so sure about this leak. The fact that it came out right after people on this forum expressed their desire for a Nya focused underwater season certainly raises some suspitions. On top of that, the sets also sound "too good to be true". Most of them seem to be location-based sets, which is very unusual for Ninjago. And as @GarmaFan pointed out, it's unlikely for Ninjago to straight up use the word "Atlantis". With that in mind, this seems like another fake leak, like the one from 2016 with the "Merjitzu" season. -

Fantasy Pirates: A LEGO World Builder Project

As much as that would be cool, we want to make this a Fantasy Pirates theme, not a Sci-Fi Pirates theme. So, save up those ideas for a different project, not this one. -
Fantasy Pirates: A LEGO World Builder Project
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Pirates
We plan on having four Sea Monsters in total, each of them guarding one of the ancient keys that unlocks the secret island which the Pirates are seeking. And yes, we do plan on having mermaids and sirens in the story. I even thought about giving one of the main characters the ability to become a mermaid whenever she enters in water. Speaking of witch, we almost finished another character design: -
LEGO Castle has come in many forms over the years. It began with the peaceful yellow Castle in the late 70's, and then transitioned into being more "realistic" in the 80's, and then started getting more fantasy elements in the 90's, with the introduction of the first LEGO Dragon, and the Blue Wizard Majisto. After that, Castle started becoming more experimental, with lines like Fright Nights, and Knight's Kingdom I and II. As you would imagine, those lines got a little bit of flak from fans due how different they were. When 2007 rolls around, we get Fantasy Castle, a line that is beloved by some, but ignored by others because "the fantasy elements ruin it". Afterwards, we make a brief return to "realistic" Castle with Kingdoms, and then we go back to Fantasy again with Castle 2013. And then, in 2016 we get probably the most famous case of a "not real" Castle theme with Nexo Knights, which most fans wouldn't even categorize as a Castle theme, due to it relying more on Sci-Fi vehicles rather than well... actual Castles. I've even heard some people go as far as mockingly call NK "Knight's Kingdom III". So, with all that in mind, I would like to ask... What exactly would most people classify as a "real" Castle theme? And what would people actually want from a hypothetical return of LEGO Castle? Should a LEGO Castle reboot have some fantasy elements, or no fantasy elements at all?
