[MOC] Powered Boxcar (Power Functions)
XGBC replied to Unfinished_Projects's topic in LEGO Train Tech
for your power pickups will you just mod a non working 9v motor or do you plan on creating custom power pickups like i did? XGBC -
i just need a four wide power pickup because my pantograph is about 2.7 bricks wide and im building a mining locomotive so it doesnt need to be that big. thanks for your suggestions anyway i have built the pantograph like beck but with a bit bigger contact wich consists of two rods instead of one

lego isnt intrested in trains in general i think however i would be very happy if they would do so.like M_slug375 said it wouldnt be likely but we could always be wrong lego has surprised us in the past with such ideas. A hoping XGBC

Lego Mindstorms EV3 Monorail
XGBC replied to Hanso's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I now really understand your reasons better. With video i mean a video of you candy delivering system that uses the monorail i hope to see that soon but i do understand that it will take alot of time. Keep on building! XGBC- 44 replies

GBC General Discussion
XGBC replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
to me it doesnt really matter if its mechanic or not i just needed the instructions of the car to make a more modern version of it. i really like akiyuki's trains too and the different modules for it that you guys developed are excellent but i want something that uses the 9v rail system so that i havent have to worry about changing batteries or recharging them- 1,124 replies

you could just buy some center rails and add them to the powerfunctions/9v rails the curve radius is the same Hope i helped XGBC

Thank you i just need to make your design smaller i want to use it for a narrow gauge electric locomotive

yes i do and sometimes i mix both worlds together. Thats why my username is XGBC XGBC

you dont have to use 2 9v train motors you could also use an pf train motor and a pf extention cable if you want extra tourque XGBC

has someone got instructions for the train from steve hassenplug http://www.teamhassenplug.org/GBC/Train/ that would be nice XGBC- 1,124 replies

you could also build something like this: it is a machanical brake wich brakes the inside flanges of the weels XGBC
-
you could also if you are willing to mod lego build a so called "kurzschlussbremse" dont worry it will not short out your electronics it works by putting positive or negative voltage on both of the motors terminals and it will stop your motor more or less imediatley. but as always when you are dealing with electronics Be Careful i've also posted a diagram of the circuit below XGBC

Lego Mindstorms EV3 Monorail
XGBC replied to Hanso's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
why do you make the rail technic you could also do a design like masao hidaka he built one that looks almost exactly like yours but uses normal 1x2 bricks for the curves and tiles for the curves and for the straights it uses larger bricks like 2x4s but anyways i do really like your train and i hope to see it soon on a video of you.- 44 replies

Hello guys i like to introduce myself to the train world My first trains that i had werent actually lego ones but rather model trains. But i have had a passion with lego in those times too but i never had ones in my childhood. as i was getting older i searched around the internet and eventually discovered some beautiful train mocs and i thougt i could do that too. One day someone was selling wagon axles on ebay for cheap and well, i couldnt resist i had to buy them and just a month later i purchased the lego pf train motor and remote from amazon but i didnt like that i had to buy so many batterys for the batterybox so i looked around the internet and learned everything about the history of lego trains and i discovered the 9v train system with the metal rails and i bought some tracks from ebay for cheap from someone who had no idea what he was selling. But then i realized i would need another motor aswell and they are way too expensive so i thought to build my own power pickups like my model trains had. So i took some pieces from an old rf shield and modified them to work like power pickups and this solution works till this day and i never have to change my batterys again. the train is running from my old 12v model train transformer wich i never set to full power of course. thats the story on how i did get into lego trains XGBC

Has anyone got ideas on how to make a nice siccors pantograph like the ones seen on older elecric locomotives my problem is that it has to fit on a 4x6 plate and it should be in black XGBC

Hello guys my name is Simon and im from Salzburg, Austria i like building train and gbc mocs and what i realy do like about lego is that you can build whatever you want. As far as building sets goes i like the architecture line of sets because you can learn new building techniques and they have a sort of premium feel to it. my other hobys apart from lego are mountainbiking and skiing in the winter.
