LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah totally bizarre... because we have in both countries a distribution where everyone gets the average salary and there aren´t other factors like for example rents that are higher or lower in one place while you earn nearly the same at both places so you can spend more money for toys... child poverty in Germany is a lie, too... Let´s make it even simpler: What i said is that the cmfs aren´t - at least in my place - selling that well anymore as for 3€ and that 4€ is already to high in some places... In fact it is so bad that some toy shops i know already stopped selling them. As a company you can raise the price to the point where you earn as much as possible and where a raised price would only bring you less profit because the sales sink too much. The problems i see are with how lego does that are the following three: - The bigger price steps in shorter frequency. - The time between the sales to the final customers shrinkng and Lego noticing that because the shops react by not ordering them anymore. - Investors buying whole cases of cmfs. Would be interesting how many are still sold to kids. This point would be even more relevant for sets with smaller numbers like the UCS Millenium Falcon or the new Star Destroyer. It will be interesting when this bubble pops. - An additional thing that is only relevant to a certain part of the sales is that once the price is so high that collectors say they quit, they won´t come back as easily because the "i have a complete collection, so i´ll buy the overpriced new ones"-magic will be gone. So it isn´t as easy to ajust the price again once lego noticed they went to far. If you would understand "my bizarre ideas" you wouldn´t speak of a price that is exactly the same all over Italy... You can make a price that is maybe "too cheap" for some places if you want to squeeze every drop out of your customers or you have to be carefull with pushing it towards the limits for different regions. Many things would stop people from doing this. At first you need a big budget you can invest into a certain amount of Lego. Then you need the possibility to buy a big amount of cmf-boxes. How many shops can you reach with only one hour of driving? How many boxes will they have on shelves? Then you need a big car and space to store the figures. Then you need customers and have to think about how to reach them. Then you have to hope that hundreds of other people at least as smart as you don´t do the same thing. It wouldn´t make much sense to invest the time for driving, buying and selling as well as shipping if you make more profit with a normal job. What works for reimported cars and cigarettes doesn´t necessarily work for toys. I wrote "airports" and nothing about police stopping you from importing Italian Lego to Germany. If i would buy for example a bunch of American college jackets with real leather arms to resell them later in Germany, where you pay more for fake plastic garbage, i would in fact get problems. This part of my response was aimed at your claim nobody would import goods in general - at least that´s how your post read like. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Sorry, I am not sure if I understand that correctly. What do you mean by "personal" income? I don´t think my income defines what´s expensive. But you can´t ignore income differences between markets. There are a lot of goods that are cheaper on one market because making a smaller profit for each item there than in another country is often still more productive than failing on it. Do you mean, "people would go to buy" or "people who go out of the boundaries buy"? The second thing is very often the case. Because of that many people go shopping when they already are in a country/ state with lower prices. Because of that we have so much security on airports looking for people that bring more stuff than allowed. It might not happen that much that people travel just for buying goods from across the border but even for that i know some people living near the east border who do that for their cigarettes, brand clothes and other stuff on a regular basis. I agree that there isn´t one point where everyone makes that decision. But there is a point where most shops stop selling them, when there are not enough customers left, and with bigger steps it will be reached fast. I talked with some shop owners in one of the richest places of Germany. They are already close to that point with the cmfs. They are just selling them reduced without profit to get customers into their store and earn their living with sponaneous purchases. A few from shops outside the town already stopped ordering them. I can still buy all the serieses back to Batman Movie one reduced in stores. At the moment Lego still gets the money from shops even if they can´t sell them. The company will notice this not until stores stop ordering them. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am not sure if that comparison works that well. It depends on the persons income, too. There are huge differences between countries or even states. Lego uses the "perfect" tool to find the "right" price by raising it step by step ... to a point where nobody buys them anymore and stores stop ordering them. -
It is nice that Chip uses the new tea cup mould. But i still don't get why they don't print his eyes on the other side so the physical handle becomes the nose. This way it looks just wrong like if i would take a picture of Harry Potter including hair and upper Body and print it on a Minifigure head where just the Smiley face should be while still using a Hair piece and torso-print to represent him :/ Chindarellas Cat should be a new fat mould. Maybe we will get one with Hermoine one day. The owl is perfect and looks just like Archimedes, my favourite Disney Character :D I already bricklinked Arielle's animal friends. They really Show how awesome Apu, Jago, and Mushu could look. I hope for regular Disney Sets with Minifigs one day...

I don't like the new heads very much. The dot eyes don't work very well for them and the normal arms and legs ruin the scale between the characters as well as the proportions of the ones, that used them before. At best they look like ordinary people wearing costumes. Especially Buzz' poorly printed head looks bad in my opinion compared to the one you get if you combine the printed arms from the cmf with the moulded head. The torso prints for the new Woody and Jessie are prettier than the old ones. If i can manage to get the beltprint of my old Woodys legs it will improve the combined figure. Ham hasn't changed. He was and still is great. Rex' new print looks like eyebrowes. The mould is still awesome. The blue Bunny would look much better as a mould like Lotso. The Ducky is much too small. Forky is well made.

Future Simpsons Lego- Rumours, discussion and wishlisting
Gorilla94 replied to Legochaek's topic in LEGO Licensed
I made it by myself for more money. So i would have been glad, if it had been produced by Lego with special headmoulds for Moe, Lenny, Carl and Barney :P Now i would be quite unpleased seeing it happen. I also see how it wouldn't be a commercial success especially after all that time. All i said was that the final product would look terrible without the double walls. Yes, that was one reason i dislike the Joker Manor so much. I agree on that to 100%. It's the reason I hate Lego's standard tactic to allways keep a few important characters back for future waves, if they decide to do them later, so much. Witchking of Angmar and Faramir for example... -

Chinese New Year’s Sets 2020 - Rumours and Discussion

Maybe if it is called "sheep" and goes in the direction of S14 Tiger Lady like many adult female Halloween costumes... I would prefer a cute version with full head covering -
Chinese New Year’s Sets 2020 - Rumours and Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think the moulded heads (Ninjago, Minotaurus) aren't exactly costumes. Same for Chima animals? if they do, we could count Anubis from Pharaos quest, too. It's off topic, but man, I'd love to get more egyptian gods ? I could imagine an Orang-Uthan, a cow, a Snake, more than one type of dog, a chameleon, a kangaroo, a few tropical birds... i could go on and on :) i would say there could be even a horse. They are very, very popular and the mould we have has that hole for a horn. A donkey would be possible, too. A crocodile would be a neat figure, too, if it is done well with a large snout. -
Stickers isn't a big deal! Or is it?
Gorilla94 replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Excuse me. English isn't my first language. What do you mean with "still stickers"? I was talking about custom pad- or UV-printing bricks by third party companies with grafics you do with gimp/photoshop/Inkscape. If somebody puts so much effort, time and money into it, it indicates that Lego went too far with making the detail a cheap sticker. There can happen mistakes, of course. But most of that companies will refund or give you a new part if they ruined your brick. -
Stickers isn't a big deal! Or is it?
Gorilla94 replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think it is about where the stickers are used. For me it is ok in the Harry Potter sets to use stickers to give certain walls some texture. It is sad, because such walls with printed design were great to play with as a child, but it is still "ok" because the sets have a lot of nice figures and value for the money. The point where i think it's not ok anymore is when they make people feel annoyed enough to do custom prints. Things like the UCS-Millenium falcon, The Ghosbuster HQ or the Simpsons houses. What i can't accept is something like the Mystery Maschine set. You won't recognise the car anymore, when the stickers in the outside peel off - and mine are even printed wrong, so there is a piece in the middle of the "Mystery Maschine"-writing missing on one side. If the detail is so much needed that you won't recognise what the model represents without it, it should be printed. -
I hope that will be the case and the legs will become a often used part. Orange and someday dual moulded red and black ones would be great to make Donald and Mickey more accurate with some custom printing. I would not think too much about that book. There are other strange things like the book with teeth, too. The Tea box, the paper thrown by the owl, Umbridges sweets or the Goblin coins... They all don't look like a real piece at all. The transparent thing Snake carries could be a mould? The troll from lotr was much bigger and didn't have a nose like all big figs i know. If that was a new mould it would be much more accurate. I mean the old one from the yellow-headded sets is far superior to that one. I am sure this is just an artwork.
-
Would be great for people, that don't like HP, too. A torso reusable for Hobbits and a head to give an orc army some varriation :) Do you think we will see more medium sized legs in 2020? I mean if the sets go on with the years Harry, Ron and the others are tall enough to use adult legs like Krum and Fleur did... we are still missing a grey (not sure if light or dark) and it would be nice to be able to get dark brown legs outside of the Stranger things set?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Sounds evil toward collectors... i guess that means it will probably happen? If it isn't in the cmf 20 i am going to bricklink it and print a torso. As long as the headmould is avaiable for a reasonable price i am fine with that? and the price of 99,99€ in Europe will make enough people buy the Set for the bricks and resell the figures ? -
I didn't wrote just "new moulds". I don't count the Friends pieces here that will be reused for years. They are not what i meant. The "special effort" i mean are highly specific pieces that are made for a character to make him look perfect. An example: Blackbeard's Beard, Woody's moulded head, Homer Simpson's head or Bombur's Beard. You can not reuse them again unless for that one licenced character and it makes the figure beautifull. The generic sailor hat that was used for Blackbeart, Davy, Spongebob's flying Dutchman and Hidden side isn't like that. It is just a much needed mould in general that will keep for years in Legos mould library in case any pirate- or fishing-theme will be produced. Like Gandalfs Beard is reused by Dumbledore or Super Heroes. Norringtons Hairpiece went from PotC to Super heroes, Lotr and Harry Potter. The new Harry Potter Lantern piece is already a usefull addition in the cmf-Disney-Line and Hermoines hair is in the Stranger things set. Now look again at the licences you mentioned and think about how many waves the lines had, when you compare that to only one wave of Trolls Lego put such an insane effort into. I don't hate Trolls for that. I am happy for everyone who likes them. What makes me a bit sad is the lack of that effort when it comes to other themes. I'd like to get some of the accessory pieces we see in the videogames. If TT games felt like a special part is needed it is a good indicator it's absence in the physical sets hurts. Like for example Narsil or Orcrist...

DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
Let´s wait and see. Maybe it is different in each country, too. I got a winter soldier buing a modular house. I have to agree that the D2C is gorgeous and the minifigure scale one is even prettier. But i won´t buy the first. It needs too much room and i can´t make funny Scenes with minifigs because of the scale. I will get the minifig sized batmobil even if i have to buy it from ebay. It is easily the best version out there and the first set i am going to get since two years. In my opinion it is a great mistake not to sell it as a normal set. -
I see the problem that many Manga/anime-sets would just take sales away from ninjago. So i am not that sure about a lot of licences. It is my personal taste but every time Lego put manga eyes on Minifigure heads it looked terrible to me. But on the other hand dot-eyes wouldn't wouldn't represent many characters very well. There is one line i would buy as soon as it's released: I'd love to see a Donkey Kong Coutry line of sets as long as the cartoon apes get moulded head pieces. Tree houses with the pet rhino, the jumping snake or the race ostriches would be so cool and appeal to children, city builders with a zoo and Video game nerds as well.

[MOC][WIP][BATMAN] Building Arkham Asylum
Gorilla94 replied to Bricks Feeder's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wow ? You did a great Job in all of that! I am most impressed by the door Mechanismus of the ambulance car ? About advices: I guess it's just a matter if personal taste, but i'd use a bit bigger wheels in nightmare scarecrow's mask. Besides that i absolutely live him ? Could you please tell me where Azreal is from. He is just such a great figure! -
I guess the reason so many AFOLs are upset is the amount of effort lego put into this, while giving for example the Super Heroes-Fans so little. The amount of outside the theme absulutely useless moulds is insane... especially if all these heads really consist of two parts. A few examples: Theoden and Eomer got the same helmet mould. Thorin and Fili got the same hair piece as Kili which looks stupid without quiver.., and it was reused for Quinlan Vos in Star Wars again without quiver. Probably it will be reused again. A mould without hole for a quiver would have been perfectly justified. Dain reuses Dwalins beard and didn´t even get an own faceprint but Gloin´s. The Flintstones set left 3 figures of the ideas set away from the final product, didn´t use headmoulds (yeah, it is lego ideas... that doen´t mean you can´t make an exception for Fred and Barney when you are in charge of your own company and see how bad the product looks if you don´t) and used Standard legs for Barney while medium ones were available to destroy his proportions and make him as Big as Fred. Toy Story 4 could have given old fans at least Boo Beep. Instead standard minifigure legs and Arms were used for her as well as for Woody and Jessie, which made the figures look unrecognisable, too. Not even the existing moulded heads were reused. Buzz used Standard legs, too. So he became just as big as Woody. The new shepard staff looks terrible with the gigantic hook. Even Rex looks worse than before with this Bert-form-Sesame-Street-eyebrow-print. Goofy is just as big like Donald and Mickey. All have terrible proportions. Giving Goofy Long Toy Story limbs and a second version of Mickey/Donald the new medium sized legs would have been easy to do. Simpsons was well made but not continued because the Kwik-E-Market and Series 2 didn´t sell well enough while we still miss many extremely important characters. Now Lego goes all in... with the Trolls theme that has figures that are just perfect representations of the characters - some of them with 2 or even 3 exclusive moulds per figure (i am not sure about the centaur piece). While they are perfect representations even the people that like them are aware that it probably will be successfull on the same level as angry birds and like i said - the parts will be useless in the future unlike many much needed minifigure moulds lego doesn´t produce while their absence hurts since years... I think it isn´t wrong to say that Lego put the most effort into the minifigures of the probably least successfull/popular/long living theme. I can´t understand that. That the faces of the figures look to me like they would have been ripped out of nightmares is the cherry on the cake to me.

Cool! As a huge Tolkien nerd i would buy all of the Lord of the Rings figures Especially getting dual moulded short legs for the hobbits would be great. If it was a CMF done by Lego i would assume that there would be Gandalf, Legolas and Gimli included in some varriation to make the fellowship complete instead of Galadriel, Glorfindel and Tom. Maybe Gimli with printed arms and midium sized legs, Legolas in the outfit from the coronation. Old Bilbo could have his book instead to avoid smoking. Depening on if there would be sets to come along with the Cmf i´d like to change Boromir to his standard outfit with dual moulded printed arms. He needs them so bad

Thank you! ? Again no mad Hatter or Hush ? I hope at least Batmites cowl will be black. Would make a nice headgear for an orc and Mordor's army needs evry varriation it can get to make it look less like from Kamino ? Maybe he could have a Comic of Batman as an accessory. The new green Vankman-hairpiece for Joker is great. Allways wanted it and was going to paint a custom one this hollidays because i gave up hope ? Besides that, the black recolour of Hermoine's hairpiece and all the great Fantasy-pieces used for Aquaman this series sadly gives me nothing ? If there aren't some cool accessoires we don't know until now it is going to be the cheaper series until now for me with one purchased figure and 2 or maybe 3 hairpieces from Bricklink. -

The future of Back to the Future
Gorilla94 replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in LEGO Licensed
I guess just like Scooby Doo the best chance is a UCS car. The rest isn't that iconic, the target group is quite small (compared to other licences) and there is a minifigure scaled Version out, that many fans already own. -
Future Simpsons Lego- Rumours, discussion and wishlisting
Gorilla94 replied to Legochaek's topic in LEGO Licensed
I guess it's personal taste to some degree how important it feels to you to have the correct wall colours. But i think most people will see the difference between the medium dark flesh colour of the outside and dark green on the inside (these colours match the show as close as possible) as similar to if not even more noticeable than between the blue and yellow of the Kwik-E-Mart (which Lego put into the set) - especially because you see much more of the green walls than the walls in the Kwik-E-Mart which are barely visible behind interior. On top of that there are wooden plates on the walls from the floor up to the height of a grown mans hips. If the wall has just one line of bricks, this would have to be done with about 50-70 stickers/prints or left away completely. It's true that the diamond pattern is no big deal. I will print mine like that, too. The problem is the window frame. It is brown on the inside and purple on the outside. If you make the inside medium dark flesh with purple window frames it will look terrible next to the brown and red seats and completely break the colour scheme of the show. You also have to build the frame in a way that works with the seats standing right next to the window because you can't put the Windows too high. The solution i came up with works as good as it is possible with the existing bricks but isn't stable enough for a official playset.
