I think the selection is perfect. While i hate many of the Disney CMF-Figures (Dschini...) because the shape looks just terrible in minifigure form, many of these charakters won´t be recognizable as minifigures but still work fine as great fantasy/castle figures. This would be a great success just because of the castle fans even if the hype about the franchise dies until it´s release.

To be honest i think the Simpsons were one of the most usefull series for customisers with the huge amount of dual mouldet arms and unprinted parts. If you have a City you really just had to switch the head of Willie to get a perfect worker with hairy arms for example. The only prints too specific for a generic city were the accessory tiles and Marge's/Lisa's torso parts. There were animals. Santa's little helper, let's say "a" snowball, the little bird with Jasmine... My favourite is Simpsons 1. Besides the parts i used for different things i love the series in general. On top of that they were 2,50€ and many heads stayed exclusive to that figure. Nearly everything in the 4€ Potter series got recycled. And i bet the few exclusive parts soon will be reused in sets, too.

DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Do we have any information about the last waves sales? In my opinion everything except for the great Catwoman and the printed dishes with bat-symbols is a much, much weaker version of already released things. If the sales are going down, they will maybe stop focussing on Batman so much or will at least do things we are waiting for since years and raise the quality again. -
Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

I think it is pretty sure that there will be a knight in the blacksmith set. It adds so much play value if you have a customer for the shop trying on different armors. I'd also say a horse is likely. A knight - as sad as it is to say that- on horseback is something special for Lego now and would be a selling point for kids who never saw a Castle line on shelves or were to doing for Lego back then. For me the biggest questions is how much will be changed about the main idea of the set (if Lego isn't going to give us a series of modular Castle buildings i can't see them doing this house that way) and how Lego will do the roof. I really need a good technique for the castle i am planning. -

When Should Ninjago End?
Gorilla94 replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes. His point was that this asian (i'd say a pink ninja is more specific manga than just asian) influenced theme can include all those classic themes like pirates, castle and so on. I said there should be western/ not manga sets for these themes, too. I'd buy a monkey kid line of sets without scifi- stuff, too. My point isn't that i don't want asian themes. I want more themes without this manga-mashup-style that produces very little usefull prints and moulds for other themes. The red Orcs from Nexonights for example were at least designed in a way that makes them still usefull for generic fantasy. -
When Should Ninjago End?
Gorilla94 replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It´s not the unlicenced theme´s fault if the sets are overpriced. It´s no valid argument not to produce such things in the future because some megablocks were too greedy back then. To make it short: I don´t want "inspired" figures and sets. I want well made representations of what i love like the wonderfull dragons knights with this gorgeous bronze, black, green colour scheme (but now with a few more different weapon and helmet-moulds, dual moulding and printed arms/legs here and there). You should just accept, that some people don´t want to mix these things. For my part i love many themes. History, Mythology, Fantasy, some licences, Lego City... Give me these things in their classic form and i am happy. I do mix these occasionally like for example a classic viking sitting in the parisian restaurant, too. But i don´t want a hipster-Viking wearing glasses and a pink unikitty-fan-scarf over his chainmail (as a print i cant separate. if they use the new scarf mould i´d be fine with it) combined with a anime-logo print on his helmet whch makes the piece useless for me. If the figures and builds were made in a way that allowes me to use everything with mild modifications as a classic pirate-, city-, viking- or samurai-thing and not just as something from this crazy mashup world with tons of anime-influence, I´d buy it. So I just bricklink something like the bone armor for my orc chieftain from time to time, which isn´t satisfying. I don´t say Ninjago should end. But there should also be sets not with less but without asian influence. One big set for every theme like a good blacksmith and a pirate ship and i wouldn´t complain. -
With all the Potterfans in this threat i'd like to ask a question. Is there another creature like Dobby that could bring us dual moulded short legs with light flesh feet? Dark brown and dark tan pants with bare fest would improve the hobbit minifigures drastically.

The shield, shoulder armor and helmet in black/silver would make a great elite orc I'll add one to my hoard.

I like the new headgear. In blue it looks to much like Nexo knights but the black one is just perfect an Orc. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It could. I have read it "only" survives 6 days on surfaces. If that's true, leaving a container in a hall for a weak without touching it should reduce the risk to zero. But if ... let's say "someone" ... posts on facebook things like "lego sells DEADLY stuff to your children for profit!!! Share if you want to burn these monsters!!!!" often enough it will do a damage to the brand and we know there are such persons out there. In Lego's position I'd simply avoid that problem by releasing the series later. The other possible problem i see is when countries close their borders for ships from China but to be honest i can't see that happen in Europe. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I´d go as far to say Bowser and Donkey Kong make only sense as bigfigs. On the other hand... It wouldn´t be the first time lego releases barely recognisable ugly minifigure versions of licence characters *insert picture of Barney from the flintsones set or Dschini from Disney series1* -
The pig mould was used in cmf Series 12. I can´t imagine Lego releasing the rabbit and pig the way they are shown in the ideas entry. They look like awefull knockoffs. As far as i know the pig is the best friend of the bear, isn´t it? So it won´t be left away like i assume the rabbit could be, if they aren´t all brickbuild. Lego won´t do the figures build with bricks, if they didn´t foget the failure of the adventure times ideas set, which got mostly supported by peoply who wanted minifigures and didn´t buy the final product.

I think there is a big difference between other licences and this one. It would be a strange move from Nintendo. Nintendo is in the toy figurines market since years and not giving it's licences out easily. That's a huge difference for example to Simpsons, which got merch from uncountable companies. A cmf would be a direct concurrent to nintendo's Tomi figurines. They'd sell like hotcakes, yes. But a big part of that profit would have been made anyways with the standard figures. Not every child cares about the figure they play with even in combination with their lego building bricks is made by Lego as long as the figures are pretty and in scale. That's why i'd assume there could be a line with carts like mighty micros. Being able to modify them would be perfectly fitting to the theme. Besides that we know there must be a Disney cmf 3 in the close future because the Winnie Pooh Ideas set needs the moulds. So there aren't many lots left. All i say is: i doubt a cmf happen.

I am not sure if i'd like a Cmf. I can't imagine most Characters as a good minifigure. There is no alternative to Bigfigs for Donkey Kong and Bowser if they are supposed to look not terrible.

New LotR action figures make me hopeful for Lego
Gorilla94 replied to lego the hutt's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I get your point, but to be honest I think that isn't a problem, because the holes are infact essential elements. If there is a Balrog instead of Balins tomb in a first wave Mines of Moria set, it won't look like it is a random sceene targeted to hardcore fans. It could have been just like that back then. The Witchking of Angmar with a dragon is by far less uninteresting for children without connection to the licence as well as to Afols than the uruk hai forge. A 9,99 Set with a shiny golden Dwarfking and his Throne would sell no matter if it was a Middle earth set. -

I'd add as a third point, that most sets were awefull. Except the gorgeous Smaug the Erebor Set was pathetic. At least there should have been a pearl Gold baseplate with a few of these gold piles and columns as well as a paper background like the old Studio sets had. Without these things it looks just plain. Even if i ignore the ridiculous price it looks bad as a product in itself. The only people who did a great job were the designer of Smaug and the photoshop designer, who made a box artwork that made it look like you'd get much more. Even the most enthusiastic fanboy reviews on Amazon were dissapointed to some degree and that is a strong indicator that there is something objectively wrong. The battle of the five minifigures is maybe the most pathetic set of the line. The structure looks like a five year old designed it and the Balista screams "so cheap"... on top of that there was an embarrassing figure selection. Azog is a fine figure and the crown of Thorin is gorgeous. Why has Thorin no cape? Dains Helmet is a great mould but should have been pearl dark grey instead of just dark grey. Reusing Dwalins Beard for Dain was awefull, but reusing Gloins face and giving him a translucent "Elves"-Weapon cant be justified. The orcs without headgear are a bad joke.... i could critisize this set all day long. I don't know what to say about the two laketown sets. There is a nice printed shield, Bard without dirty face, a Laketown guard and the Master of Laketown. These were well executed. Besides that the sets look like a child made them out of an extremely limited amount of bricks including some reused minifigure parts (i know Thorins torso is exclusive. It just looks generic and boring like a reused old print). The buildings are ugly and simplistic shelters. In the film the city had seen better days but it still had a pretty architecture. The Mirkwood army combined irrelevant and poorly executed perfectly. I am crazy about Middle Earth and willing to pay an amount of money for things i like that seems just stupid to others. I love the hobbit movies (except the Tauriel-Legolas-stuff) and work on customs for quite random things that were not made by Lego. You won't find a more forgiving person when it comes to the "buy or buy not"-decision, but even I bricklinked just the figures and build my own stuff. I would not say they must keep the hobbit sets to a minimum. If they are good castle sets, they will sell. For example a little Throne scene with Thrain and Thror or a battle pack with iron Hill dwarfs as well as a good Erebor set reusing Smaug. Of course Lord of the Rings as well as Hobbit sets need to focus. Baggings End on a modular building level of quality with a lot of Dwarfes and detail as the flagship-set would be great. 3 Moria Trolls reprinted with a cooking place and some dwarfes would work. It would even be usefull for generic fantasy builders. Lord of the rings could have one wave just filling gaps from the last two. Balrog. Witchking on Fellbeast vs. Eowyn. Rohan Battlepack with recolours of the new Viking helmet and the old Rohan helmet. A big Minas Tirith Set. All of these would appeal even to children who never heared of middle earth... unlike the orc forge... -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gorilla94 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I couldn't agree more as far as it is about the next or maybe the next two serieses of Disney cmfs. The way they chose characters in the first two serieses won't let tons of potential other characters happen in the future. There won't be any sidecharacters from movies, who already had their main protagonist and villain already released. If they go on that way the Disney licences can't provide enough material for many serieses more without getting more in that direction. -

I don't know, but isn't a second ideas set from the guy who did the beachhouse coming? If there will be a bunch of medieval modulars under the ideas label with recoloured Cmf parts, i'd be fine with it. -

Gorilla94 replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
For 5$ and the boring Design of the pirate they should have just given her the turtle as a second accessory and do something cool instead of the diver. An Anubis with dot eyes instead of the creepy red monster ones from Pharaos quest for example. Or a farmer with the scarecrows Tlbm2-mould recoloured and a goat. -

I had a thought and wanted to ask you about it... How big is the chance of getting the Rohan/Viking helmet in a different colour with the blacksmith set? A modular like blacksmith building would be the best opportunity for a recolored Version of the new sword and a few different printed shields. Like for example the design of the viking shield in 2 different colours. -

I am not sure about if this is the right place, but i´d like to know your opinion. Could the medieval ideas set (in case Lego doesn´t ruin it and attribute the set warming shelves to the lack of interest in the theme) bring us something like a CC-castle-series?
