  1. The new monkeys are very cute and really well produced (dual molding). But the lack of pose-ability on them is certainly a downside. However, for me it is a moot point. The classic monkey will always be my favorite! I've put some of the new monkeys in POBB, but even still I've decided I need to buy a reddish brown version (all of the others I have in my collection are old brown of course since that's the only brown I'll use in my classic display) of the old monkey to add to it as well.
  2. I never fancied the Parisian Restaurant to fit in with the Pirates in any way... but this actually works surprisingly well! Bravo.
  3. I think that the concept is an interesting one. I fear that the execution of said concept will be awful though. Here's to hoping I'm wrong!
  4. Was thrilled to be able to add the Ladybird storybooks from 1990 to the collection! They pair so spectacularly with The Golden Medallion comic.
  5. Brick Sticker Shop (UK based) has a lot of flag sticker options and their quality is excellent.
  6. Thank you! Nostalgia is my M.O.! "Way overboard" was definitely my intent! As the Ladybird books state it "he is a real sea dog, always on the hunt for gold - some say he can actually smell it!" He must have caught whiff of what wiley ol' Broadside was hiding deep beneath Eldorado.
  7. A very nice fading of the color pallet @evancelt.
  8. Today was a good day Popsy.
  9. Ahh, there it is... nice spotting!
  10. Where did you spot the 2x2x2 barrels in medium nougat? I can't seem to spot them in the product photos.
  11. I just had to share this awesome mod by Instagram user lego016! Bluecoat imperial tower inspired by the classic Wolfpack Tower set # 6075. Link to Instagram post in case it's not embedding for you.
  12. I have not purchased any of their flag stickers specifically, however I have purchased some of their other stickers for other old sets and yes, the quality is very good. They are probably the best after-market sticker maker out there right now.
  13. That is a mighty fine looking vessel!
  14. Pretty awesome! Congrats!
  15. I've been experimenting around a bunch with adding some "action" to my classic Pirates layout. Firing cannons, exploding barrels, and a lot of translucent studs for some more dynamic water. It's hard to tell from the photos, but I've also tiled the ships a bit with some strategically placed plates underneath. Looks better in person to me at least. This is very much a work-in-progress stage and really just playing around with various ideas. But I definitely feel that it helps the layout! Thoughts?
  16. Finally found time to watch episodes 2 and 3 and continued to find them very enjoyable! Keep up the good work.
  17. Instagram is my favorite social media platform to use, but I do also still use Facebook quite a lot as well, primarily in the groups. I watch YouTube on a very regular basis, though I personally wouldn't consider it to be a social media platform so much.
  18. One would think... especially with me as a dad. But, sometimes children just want to be rebellious!
  19. I keep trying to tell my son that when it comes to LEGO (most especially LEGO Pirates, Space, and Castle), older is almost always better... but he thinks I'm crazy.
  20. Beautiful rigging and sail work!
  21. But... did you see the SHEEP?!?!
  22. That is just the prototype concept. The actual set itself does not come with any of that background stuff. If you compare the concept photo with the actual set renders you'll see also numerous changes to the ship itself. I personally am pretty happy with how it came out. This is in no way a replacement to having an actual Pirates theme proper, but I still find myself enjoying the Punk Pirate genre of Video. The outlandish colors actually look great to me. It probably helps that I'm also a big punk music fan, so this is a mashing of two of my interests together in a bright, fun, and totally crazy way.
  23. Well, it just didn't seem right to have the Imperial fort from the 1990 LEGO Ideas book 260 and not to have the little Pirate ship as well... So I remedied that today!
  24. I already got the Punk Pirate and Shark Singer from the first series, so I'll surely be adding the ship and new pirate bandmate from this second series. While they most certainly do not fit in with the rest of my Pirates stuff, they sure are fun looking!
