  1. Some get discounted, others probably get broken up for Bricklink
  2. Interesting that Studgate sold faster than Modular Construction Site despite a 33% higher price point in an adverse economy. What can we infer from this? There is more of a market for trains than previously believed. Lego could have sold 15000 Studgates had they wanted.
  3. Congrats to sdrnet, BrickyBricks82, pix027, ThomasW_BL, and ryantaggart on successfully navigating Round 3 of the Bricklink Designer Program. There were some really spectacular designs this round and the rapid success we see here makes sense. I bought one of these designs and wish I could have bought three but the economy's a bit of a question mark right now. I think all five could hit the 10,000 max at the end of the period: Chalet definitely will.
  4. The toilet isn't getting made. At best, it will elicit a humorous Youtube reaction video from the design team.
  5. Modular Construction Site is more impressive than a number of recent "official" Modulars. It drips with that classic late '00s Lego Modular spirit that is kind of embodied in TLM1's visual style. It will be near the top of my list.
  6. That particular set someone linked is old, but here are some of the new designs: https://www.bluebrixx.com/en/neuheiten/105130/Pirates-Island-Island-with-Hideout-BlueBrixx-Special https://www.bluebrixx.com/en/pirates/104122/Galleon-BlueBrixx-Pro https://www.bluebrixx.com/en/neuheiten/105128/Governors-Island-Tavern-BlueBrixx-Special https://www.bluebrixx.com/en/bluebrixxspecials/105181/Governors-Island-Harbour-BlueBrixx-Special The bricks are by Xingbao and they're on par with early 2010s Lego quality
  7. Slightly off-topic, but the new 2022 Bluebrixx pirate line was just announced, some brisk sets in there for certain. 105128 and 105130 seem quite good.
  8. You know, I think this one might actually be a better fit for BlueBrixx. Anyway, the A-frame cabin is great, let's hope they don't bastardize and ruin the design too much in the process of turning it into an official set like they always do.
  9. On ABS plastic, you can increase friction with a coating of clear nail polish. I'm not sure if the material the seagulls are made of is compatible with it, however.
  10. I hope we get some curved ones
  11. I also built a homage to Xon67's Cafe Corner XL. https://imgur.com/a/CODlDlT
  12. If you place 10297 facing back-to-back with 10246 and offset 10297 by 16 studs, you should get a natural alleyway between the art gallery and Ace Brickman's office, right?
  13. Don't ever think that I gave up.... https://imgur.com/a/KW9CpnJ
  14. 10297 is well-integrated into your racetrack. I feel the 8-wide cars are out of scale in your streets. The whole thing reminds me of Cruis'n USA and that theme "House Special" plays in my mind when I look at it. How do you plan to address that wedge between 10185 and 10297? This ain't your first angular rodeo so I'm sure it will look good.
  15. Lego has no problem with violent conflicts over drugs if sets 1687 and 6563 are any indication. That alligator is there to dispose of people who get too snoopy.
  16. I didn't use the words "true" or "fan" in that post. But, I do believe that Lego is a hobby that should have a creative, expressive component to it.
  17. Your typical American r/lego Modular enthusiast is not going to notice the scale is off. They're going to build it, upload a photo of their Modular street(which contains every official Lego modular from Parisian Restaurant to Police Station and absolutely no MOCs or any of the old Modulars) to the 'gram, and then go back to watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Netflix until a new Modular comes out.
  18. Here's the real juicy question: will we get Ninjago City expansion #4 in 2022? I think we may see something that can be incorporated into the Ninjago City display from the Bricklink Designer Program, personally, but no mainline set. Some of these Designer Program alumni have some excellent NC designs.
  19. My condolences to WetWired but I felt Seasons in Time was a little too dispersed from the vignettes to be as compelling as some of the other entries. The craftsmanship is superb, but typically, people like to display an entire set and you don't really do that here. You can't fit all the vignettes you're not using in the drawer (or at least I don't think you can, maybe I'm wrong), so where do you put them? Anyway, Modular Construction Site is getting funded, for sure.
  20. I'm guessing we'll get another Ninjago City expansion once every 2-3 years.
  21. Creator Expert being a top theme doesn't surprise me. It's good to see City doing well, however. I think the 2020 City lineup, with sets like 60253, 60266, and 60267, illustrated the versatility and creativity of the theme for both AFOLs and KFOLs: the theme has gone beyond "simple buildings and 6-wide vehicles" to a "variety of entities that translate well to plastic bricks", and you can make up an emergent story and build around it. Maybe the lioness is the protagonist of 60267.
  22. I think at least one Lego executive doesn't really like the Bricklink crowdfunding program much, but they dislike seeing Lego Ideas sets get made (with the designers getting paid) by the competition even more. So, they allow a little bit, but hamstring it a bit.
  23. There's no reason for Lego to do this: it wouldn't sell as much as a new set. You can either Bricklink the parts (which can be fun), or you can just buy a knockoff, or you can even mix and match the two. Some pieces, like the infamous 4216 in sand green, for which you need 56x for 10185, are available from 3rd-party manufacturers like BlueBrixx. I Bricklinked a 10190 with 100% real Lego parts and while I enjoyed it, today I would probably incorporate some 3rd party stuff.
  24. It's not an enormous shelfwarmer. One day, this set will be worth $600 USD on Bricklink and people will be begging for it to be reissued. Don't be that person.
  25. It's interesting to see that the tastes of Lego consumers are different in ks6349's area. What themes are most popular there? In the US, a wide variety of sets- not just the CNY sets- go out of stock all the time.
