Love the Speed Champions offering this year. Wish the Asian sets were offered in North America. Maybe someday

I am totally on the fence with this set. I want to get it, its cheap, classic space, new pink astronaut. My problem is I don't have any classic space sets. These mini figs will not got with anything I have now and will just end up in a box somewhere lost forever. They will be keeping all my Chima sets company. See its sold out on Amazon already. Are you all getting it, of so what are your plans for these mini figs?

This years Corner Garage has 2,569 pieces, 6 mini figs plus dog, and a vehicle for $200 US. My guess is the 1477 new WV set will be priced somewhere between $125 to $150 US. My guess is a small town section, several store fronts with a large ice skating rink with a tree in the middle of it. Will include a horse drawn sleigh and a fire pit for the skaters.

Man that looks great! Love the pit area you made for it! You have inspired me to build something similar

I just finished the 2019 Speed Champions Ferrari F40 75890, McLaren Senna 75892 and Camaro ZL1 Race Car 75891 builds. These all are great sets, $15 US IMO excellent value. Also built the Desert Racer 60218, $10 here in the US. Wow, the Racer was no where close to the Speed Champions. Lower piece count, complexity, weight of set, etc. Way less then $5 worth of stuff! Something does not seem correct here regarding pricing. I would think it should cost a significant amount more for the Speed Champions line vs City. Speed Champions has: Product licensing, more complex stickers, has to take longer to design these sets, increase time to make the instructions, etc. How is TLG able to offer so much more for $5??? Has TLG reduced their profit expectation for Speed Champions or are the City sets (specifically the Desert Racer) overpriced? I have no idea on how much of each set TLG sells, but guessing they sell 3 or more Desert Racers to a single Speed Champions. Guess I am trying to figure our if I should be upset for overpaying for City sets or happy TLG is discounting the Speed Champions line. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night. Ether way, very happy with the Speed Champions line and hope TLG continues the series for years to come.

I am looking forward to a few of the Speed Champions sets in 2019. Nothing else right now is making my mouth water. Hope we get some good stuff released mid year

I am struggling this year setting up my Winter Village display with my Power Function trains and tracks (have the high Speed passenger train set). We have about a 6' oval with a few extra curves. Got a few older Lionel trains and really miss seeing them in action on my holiday display (pre Lego). Anyways, anyone here running O scale trains with their Winter Village sets? How does it look. Know the track and trains are slightly too big (probable American Flyer S scale would be better, don't have any). Missing the sounds of the Lionel motors and the sparks on the tracks.

Speed Champions 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
LegoDW replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Town
IMO the theme will continue as long as TLG can keep the vehicles under $15 US ($12 at discount). At this lower price range easy sell for present for kids. Also really like TLG is continuing giving extra racetrack structures/equipment in their two car sets. , This is a great theme, only real wish here is that TLG would offer some of the older sets again. Missed them when they first came out.- 428 replies

Thoughts Cons: 1) Wish inside of the upper 2 floors were the whole triangle, cut out for rear door entry really took a lot of space out. Not sure why upper floors couldn't have been full triangle. 2) Driveway will be difficult to line up with TLG road plates. 3) Roof is incredible boring. For $200 US should have given us some details up there!!!! 4) 3rd floor apartment, already have a few of these in previous sets. Wish was something more fun! 5) While the service truck is good, wish bricks were put into the building (say the roof). Fairly easy to moc a truck. 6) Not crazy about the colors. Need the regular Octan green. Also while orange bricks of top two floors is ok, already have this from pervious sets. Would have appeached something more unique. Pros: 1) Like the unique building look. 2) Vet area good! 3) Truck is a winner

Budgeting and choosing sets for your collection
LegoDW replied to Tmanderson's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Space is becoming a issue for me as much as cost. I am starting to shy way from good deals to get parts.....just running out of room. I really like some of the smaller City sets this year. Purchased the Camper, Helicopter transport, and few of the Speed Champions cars. These were all $30 or less US. Only bigger set I purchased was the Winter Village Fire Station. In all honesty I am not too thrilled with the set but really like the Holiday stuff and fun to get out with the kids. budget, I try not to go too crazy. If I do, will force myself to step back for a few months. -
I didn't purchase a lot of sets in 2018 as getting back into the hobby and so many good sets to collect from years past. These are my thoughts with my limited exposure to 2018 Best Theme: Creator/Speed Champions (I would have had the most fun as a kid playing with sets from these themes) Best Minifigure/Figure: Baby, not sure if 2018 but really great addition to the Mini Fig line. Best Set: 60145 dune buggy, absolute steel at $10 USA ($6 last Christmas), great platform to build relatively cheap racing vehicles from. Again would love to have had as a kid. Downtown Dinner as a AFOL. Worst Theme: Mine craft. Just not into this theme or the game. Close second is the Jurassic Park, the building and etc are good, the Dinosaurs look like just plastic figures, not Lego. TLG needs to make them look more like Lego (blocky) then the common play toy stuff. Worst Minifigure/Figure: Worst Set: Most Anticipated for 2019: Winter village, IMO not a strong showing this year with the Fire Station. Hoping next year brings something bit more fun.

Parisian Restaurant or Pet shop ? which one to buy?
LegoDW replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes, check out the other sub categories in the forum. Oh ya, purchase them both. You will be glad you did. Warning you will get hooked and want them all! -
Issue with city sets are vehicles are 4,6 or 8 stud wide. Really throws off the display scale when a tow truck is smaller then the car it is towing. Your 3 in 1 and City buildings usually do not include any depth or rear walls. If you go with Modulars, you will have to decide if you want to take out walls of the modular (not the best option as will lose all the interior details) or add onto you city buildings (adding depth and the missing walls). The second IMO is best as you can also add custom interior components.

Ok, thanks for your responses. Looks like I will have to moc any new small additions for this years display. Hopefully 2019 will bring some new sets.

Visited my local Lego store and inquire about this years holiday sets. Ask if TLG was going to be offering anything like 40262 or similar (last year they did a Thanksgiving set too). The clerk just looked at me like I was nuts. They said these smaller sets are not the norm, and for this year they only thing they were aware of were the Brickheads (kids don't like the brick heads). Kids had fun adding the two smaller sets from last years winter village series into our display. We got the Firestation, looks like that might be it for this year. Anyone know if TLG is going to be offering anything similar to 40262 this year? https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Christmas-Train-Ride-40262

Winter Village Cottage recolor. Best cheapest color?
LegoDW replied to Modeltrainman's topic in LEGO Town
You can save some money by not getting the bricks for the side builds (truck, igloo). Feel the wood shed is need as part of the set. Also, if you delete the interior details of the cottage that will decrease you brick total and reduce costs. -
Reconsidering my LEGO hobby due to my other ambitions
LegoDW replied to General Magma's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My preacher once told me to always run from temptation. In the end it will always get you. Sad truth, but usually correct. If Lego is holding you back in life, let it go. Sell your bricks and put the money toward what you really want in life. For most Lego is a hobby, something fun and enjoyable. If this is interfering with your life you need to distance yourself from it.
