the black ng track is really cheap on bricklink, but there's only curves

Anyone could. I don't see how him having 0 feedback changes much about that. Just be sure to add tracking and take pictures of the item when packing/shipping it. Google his name, many people use the same nickname for different websites, if he has a good or bad track record it might show elsewhere. - Sok.

Through paypal should be fine but what country does he want you to ship it to?

I guess adding shipping would overtly complicate the selling procedure for their purposes ;) -

Meanwhile in ebay CEO's office -
The locs looks sweet, but the windows on the coaches seem a bit small :)

All right I'm gonna call it a day, this is what the end result looks like. Top view: Entrance: Right side of the main building with ticket windows and some chairs: Left side: Restaurant, waiting room and walkway: Walkway with signals: Middle platforms with waiting room: Last platform: Control booth with interior: For night shots, see this post. It's been occupying the better part of my floor space for well over a month now so its time to make room for something else. I really liked coming back home every weekend and spending some time messing around with the station, I might have a go at building a dead-end station sometime in the future. Thanks to everyone who commented and I'll definitely be back with more train related mocs in the future :) - Sok

Why would I try to save face, I stand by what I said, we were poking fun at ebay for not responding too quickly. Getting something in place to screen the ads is also not very difficult, so I'm surprised they haven't done that. Regardless of the size of their revenue, it only takes one dissatisfied customer to go public (whether or not deaths were involved hardly matters, and the suggestion that I'm calling Ebay on killing customers is a little far fetched) and they'll have to spend a lot of effort to clean it up. Hence, you would expect them to be on the ball when it comes to illegal activities on their website. I appreciate your concern for civilised discussion but you're taking things too seriously. Lets not start yelling at each other too much though, there's youtube comments for that. - Sok. -

You sure need a sarcasm detector. Did you honestly think I expected them to cure aids and whatever? I'm naive but not quite that naive, we were just poking fun at ebay for responding slowly. And you'd expect that they'd be able to hire a programmer off of those 10 billion to write a little script that labels listings depending on their sensitivity to abuse. Large companies always seem to underestimate this sort of thing until it blows up in their face when someone who got scammed goes public with the accusation that the company did nothing. Look at what that little phrase ended up costing Philip Morris. - Sok. -

I don't think dropping in halfway a conversation and replying based on what has only just been said is a good idea. I did not get scammed and its the buyers own fault for sure, but in the end, it's costing Ebay a lot of money and it's causing bad PR. In the past weeks, we have been reporting these listings on a daily basis and sometimes it took more than 72 hours for one to go down, with close to a hundred fraudulent items being sold causing Paypal (and thereby Ebay) over 10k in losses just for that particular listing, and there have been dozens. Assuming they care about the continuity of their business they could at least implement basic security measures to catch these sellers and prevent their ads from going live. Don't lecture me if you don't know what you are talking about. - Sok. -
I lost the link but someone posted awhile ago saying they had been able to order the unimog tyres from lego directly..how do you go about that? - Sok.

How difficult can it be to add a system where new ads that fall within certain criteria (keywords, seller profile whatever) have to be approved before going live? -
Every train needs an odd-coloured stripe, it makes it go 25% faster with 72% more awesome.

I hope so, they were being awfully slow about it a few weeks ago. -
Assuming they are in good condition the prices are decent but chances are good that someone is just looking for a few of the sets from each lot so they may not want to pay as much for it all. - Sok.

The Gearbox
Sokratesz replied to PerryMakes's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't think that these two parts have been used in official LEGO sets for some time now, and there are many other ways of securing worm gears and bevels in place so they won't slip :) - Sok. -
Future of Mindstorms
Sokratesz replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It doesn't seem like they will be discontinued any time soon, and if anything, the criticism they receive here is that of AFOL's who want to take the set beyond what it is meant for. In and in itself they are still great toys with a challenge. Just make sure you have enough additional bricks to build nice stuff from, the part count in the NXT sets is fairly low. - Sok.
