EBAY SCAM: UCS Millennium Falcon10179 - £186.99 NEW
Sokratesz replied to skyliner's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I have reported both. Ebay is slow to take action, I sent them a mail about that with no response yet. These guys are making tens of thousands this way - sounds like a nice job on the side. -
Newbie, seeking PFinfo

I'm quite sure it is physically impossible for interlocking double bevel gears to slip in that configuration without breaking anything, but I'd like to see it if it happened to you. - Sok. -

My default solution for gear slipping is to simply build it so they can't slip - meaning they are each supported by a rigid element that directly connects to the other. I had problems with gear slipping in my wheel v2.0 (see sig) and solved it like this: To the left there's two M motors each with a 12t double bevel attached driving the same 20t double bevel. I had problems with gear slipping until I rebuilt the frame the way it looks in this pic with a 1x5 studless beam covering all three axles so they physically cannot move apart. - Sok. -
Future of Mindstorms
Sokratesz replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Merging a new generation of mindstorms with PF would be a good move. It would allow people to use their existing PF heavy models such as the 8043 excavator and the 8075 dozer with it, and of course the trains. I would also like to see a minimum of 5 motors controllable.. - Sok. -
Speaking of battery boxes, hwow good is the lego-offered rechargable one?
-
That could take awhile at this pace, but I'm not in a rush :) Iteration one of main building: Street view from two angles, with personnel entrance ^^ Top view. Ticket booth and luggage drop off. Any ideas what else I can put in there? A telephone or some seats maybe? If people have suggestions for a name for the station, let them hear. I'm also looking for white 1x1 tiles with the numbers 1 through 4 on them for numbering the platforms, two of each, so 8 total. - Sok.

Café, second attempt. It's larger now, but I think it looks better. It's also more spacey and offers a wider view of the rest of the station for its visitors. Front view. (the outside wall facing the chairs holds the timetable now) Rear view. Interior. (Same counter, bit more room for the cook to move around, though his repertoire is still limited to coffee and ice cream) Directly adjacent to the back of the café is the staircase into the station, opposite the café will be one or two ticket booths and a luggage drop-off, but I'm not really sure if I want this area to have a second floor - it already has a control booth, so what could I use the space for? - Sok.

I had heard of Rise Against but never really listened to them before. Saw them live last week and been humming 'Savior' ever since. Oh, and The Offspring. One cannot hear 'Pay the man' often enough.

hehe :) Don't forget that the carriages from 7745 have 4 axles and are much heavier than the ones from 7823.
-
There is multiple 7745 for sale on the dutch site 'marktplaats', around 100 - 150 bucks.

Thanks :) I'll probably re-do the entire café tomorrow, I figured that it does deserve to be quite a bit larger. More to come soon - Sok.

Free shipping ;p -
I finally found some time to build again. Re-did the main platform and the staircase a few times then started work on the café and adjoining waiting room which turned out quite difficult: I wanted it to be large enough to warrant naming a café yet not so large that it starts domination the whole station. Café, first attempt: Front view. View from entrance / street side. Close-up of the counter. There is a fancy looking coffee machine and a fridge with ice cream. But then how does the poor cook take his bio-breaks I hear you ask? The counter has a hinge! I'd like to make the area behind the counter a bit larger but its difficult to do without making the entire café huge :( I'm also missing a bunch of inverse-sloped bricks or arcs to make the roofing look more authentic but I haven't got any other pieces than the ones shown.

Indeed. All we need is a public that presents more sensible responses (for suggestions, see my post earlier in this thread) and builders who will not take offense when have not built the goose with the golden eggs this time.

quoting this again because ebay sucks -
Just be sure to check the sellers feedback - not only the amount, but also the type of items and the prices, and the dates. If it's a hundred 0.01c items in the week before he posts 99 star destroyers for sale, well, decide for yourself ;)

Well maybe the definition of what is 'balanced' needs changing. I know we are all supposed to be nice to each other here but calling a LEGO construction 'ugly', 'poorly constructed', 'needs more work', 'needs different colours', 'looks good but change x or y' is not a personal attack.

I contacted ebay yesterday by mail, and received a generic reply. They just don't care, megabluck 'em. -

He probably has his stock set at 99999 or something, I tried to order as many as I could but ebay only allows 100-something at a time. -

That, or he could buy them from himself with another account to give others the impression that they are selling in large numbers. He claims to have hundreds of them (you can fill out 99 in the # field and it will accept it) so it's 100% a scam, I've reported it twice now (stupid comment field doesn't allow more than 100 characters to elaborate) so if it's not taken down fast, ebay sucks donkeyballs. -
