  1. Yeah I noticed - well, at least they now know to be more careful in the future.
  2. Don't remember, I must've been about three years old
  3. Are you using the right type of batteries and are all the cables connected properly?
  4. I try to keep everything in sealed boxes - and when I'm not there for more than a few days I cover up the rest with a blanket. - Sok.
  5. The lights should work fine on 9v, a bit dimmer than usual but hey.
  6. A small motor, 2x2x2 like the old 9v micromotor would be extremely useful for things like cranes, small vehicles, conveyor belts etc, basically everything minifig scale.
  7. makes a comparison between various LEGO battery boxes but the rechargable one actually sounds pretty bad according to his specs (1100 vs. 2450 mah), so I'm not quite sure what to make of it.- Sok
  8. True, you can shrink it considerably with a hacksaw and a steady hand :) But I'm afraid it'll still be too tall to fit in the loc of 7745. The interior is only 5(1/3) bricks high, with some extra space under the roofing. The battery box is roughly 7x7x4 studs if you cut away the side rails. *edit I just did the maths and it might be possible to modify the roofing so that the box fits and only the orange on/off switch and the cable protrude above the roof line. Apparently the LEGO rechargeable battery-box is really good (see posts above here), so while quite an investment it may be worth it for its compactness (4x4x8) and capacity. - Sok.
  9. That should be it yeah, but the 8881 battery box is awfully large, but I don't think one of the old 14stud ones works with the PF IR receiver. - Sok.
  10. More pictures!
  11. It seems ebay is finally taking care of the fraudulent listings... Oh and here's another great scam story for your reading pleasure: http://www.zug.com/pranks/powerbook/
  12. The 8480 space shuttle has a really nice gearbox.
  13. I decided to 'furnish' the station a bit with trains and people. There are however still a few things that need doing: - Make the platforms longer so they accommodate the trains better - Add a second floor for the main building. I'm really not sure what to put there though. - Add lighting. All lanterns and every room of the building will get a light brick..eventually. I have about 15 of those so that should be enough, but the wiring is going to be a &&*# - Buy more 7860 signal posts (want 4, have 1) and add them to the station - Actually build a track around the station so the trains can run laps (will require moving the entire thing :() - Add the crossing from 7866 - Think of a proper name But yeah, for now here's some pics: Overview 1 Overview 2 Main building, street side Restaurant and waiting room Walkway 1 Walkway 2 Control booth View from control booth Center platform 1 Center platform 2 For hi-res versions go here.
  14. So the LEGO rechargable pack is really good for its size?
  15. The fences I ordered arrived today so the walkway is now complete :)
  16. Do we have any numbers on that? I've got the idea that with some grease, LEGO worm gears run fine.
  17. Someone could take a PF-M motor and run it on 11 volts for a few days to see how fast it burns out :) I might volunteer actually :P
  18. If you need to gear down significantly, try using a worm gear or one of the old style prefab gearboxes. - Sok.
  19. The only problem with pneumatics is that its very difficult to achieve positions in between of the two extremes :) But thankfully we have mini LA's now. Good luck with the build and the baby!
  20. Maybe attach them at different angles, gear the motor down a bit more and/or put two LA's in succession with the motor in the middle so it has a larger arm.
  21. Yeah okay but the small 8t gears are very weak compared to the newer style 12, 20, and 36t bevels :)
  22. Could add more detailed hands and fingers so he can pick up stuff more easily. (I love pneumatics :))
  23. If they were to release a PF 'small' motor I could see a glorious future for motorized track-side accessories.
