‘LEGO compatible’ Raven Knight horse barding?
Wardancer replied to Pirate_King_1982's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There is no official yellow barding, so this must be a clone. I have MANY custom figs, parts and even bardings from most companies available here and I have never had any problems with studs and feet. Worst case is this is some cheap aliexpress China crap, but it looks solid to me. Price is fine too. It is a real picture and not a render. Uh oh, found them: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006786618786.html?spm=a2g0n.productlist.0.0.3855bce6cAELrG&browser_id=32e4e30b32554cc1a04b730f24a0f4cd&aff_trace_key=a8417d9cdff54fb8be595f9ae5757e15-1713194734474-01190-_DCrSf23&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=shiholjecavohsse18f6ea89e0f11aa455a9c1609f&gclid=&pdp_npi=4%40dis!EUR!5.77!3.11!!!43.90!23.66!%40211b612817155485398644973e5ce8!12000038299540827!sea!DE!0!AB&algo_pvid=57db5fc3-a61c-40cb-9cb9-1b0d1dab9c48&_universallink=1&m_page_id=shiholjecavohsse18f6ea89e0f11aa455a9c1609f Some Aliexpress China stuff is pretty nice though. -
2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
Wardancer replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The Castle theme is less useful for teaching young girls that they can be astronauts. Ever since Bluebricks is continously pumping out high quality medieval sets I have gotten tired of waiting for Mama Lego to let some crumbs fall under the table. -

If the D&D CMF leak is legit an army Expansion is at hand. I really like: - dark green hood with antlers - new axe head - tan recurve bow - Blue shield with white Creature on it (the most High Elven shield I have ever seen) - weird spiky creature head in olive green And much more. A feast. I wonder how the golden Dragon looks under his armor. -

Marwood Outfoxer Marwood Outfoxer (revisited 2024) by MWardancer Customization Notes: - hood: painted - scarf/mask: painted, I had to cut off some parts in the back in order to make space for the quiver - quiver: does not use a neck brace anymore, but a pin which I glued to it. the pin goes through a hole in the cape into a hollow stud which is glued to the back of the fig. I don't like archers without arrows. - cape: I have a special hole punch to make the hole for the quiver - bow: painted a little I have a regiment pending, in which I will vary some colours a bit. It might take a while as the paint job here is quite long. Two layers of green and one layer of semi-glossy adds up to quite some work. Some of the parts were quite expensive. But I am very glad this worked out, I like how the hood with the ears matches the wolf/fox brooch.

Hmm thanks for summoning me here. i have been thinking about spraypainting my Smaug for a while, an idea which has some similarities with trying to paint the balloon. What I like about the bleaching idea is that it avoids most disadvantages of spraypainting: - you have to know what you are doing or else you will get an uneven result, spraying is not only easy, especially on 3d objects. Practice a little if you need to. - most paints do not like anything that moves, bends or gets scratched. You mention the softer parts. Your result might be something you have to be very careful with. - colour matching with mixing little pots as I do is easy, but mixing sprays needs airbrush equipment. Or you get lucky and find a good Match straight from the can. Or you accept a color that is not exactly a replica of lego. I could Imagine that with the balloon, it is so big it can have its own color. Intuitively I think bleaching it is a better way. What Amperzand writes sounds very reasonable. The best way would be to try it first on a cheaper part. But if it is a special material this is difficult. I have been looking for ways to change the color of rubber (Smaugs Wings). There are some paints that instead of covering the object with a layer of paint they go inside the rubber and thereby the object remains flexible. Paint for rubber boats for example is called „elastic“. But I have Not tried anything yet.

Thank you very much! The lack of proper Elven battle packs is what got me startet with customizing in the first place. Yes, they are China pieces, too. There are a lot of Elven daggers, blades, spears on Aliexpress. Even in various colours now like pearl gold (which I despise), black and silver. Quite well designed, better than offical IMHO.
-
Thank you! There is also an official non-official double blade on Aliexpress, but I did not have one at the time. Yes, the gondor parts are way to shiny! Thank you very much. The leaf is more a necessary means of deception. I could not make my gold paint match the Nexo shield's gold, so it looked weird. So I covered it up with the leaf. But I am glad you like it. Wohoo, I got frontpaged again. My fourth time. I am always glad when customizing gets some attention.

Wood Elf Eternal Guard Regiment led by General Haldir Na Palm Wood Elf Eternal Guard Regiment led by General Haldir Na Palm by MWardancer Customization notes regiment: - the bodies are cheap China Koruit clone brand Elf (although not a clone, because LEGO never made a fig like this) - the feet were painted green to reduce the painfully high amount of pearl gold - the helmets are a China Koruit clone brand Gondor helmet (although not a clone, because LEGO never made a helmet like this), this was painted gold and green (to reduce the painfully high amount of pearl gold) - in order to insert LEGO hands (to reduce the painfully high amount of pearl gold), I had to widen the holes in the arms with a drill - the Koruit spears are painted completely to reduce the painfully high amount of pearl gold - the capes are from Cape Madness - the standard is made from various bits and pieces Customization Notes Haldir Na Palm: - helmet: cheap Aliexpress helmet, painted - weapon: two Aliexpress daggers glued and painted - shoulder armor: official LEGO piece painted - cape from CapeMadness This stood on my shelf for a long time. It took me 4 years to get from one guard to the whole regiment, so I am glad to have finished this.

Harpy Queen Madeira Nocturnia
Wardancer replied to Wardancer's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thank you very much! -
Harpy Queen Madeira Nocturnia Harpy Queen Madeira Nocturnia by MWardancer Being a Harpy used to be fun. It was all in the little things. Flapping around at night, feeding on the occasional horse, sheep or cow, tormenting the occasional peasant. And of course the annual full moon fertility festival with the ever so panicky villagers. Oh, how joyful this had been for the small, but cozy Harpy tribe. But ever since Queen Madeira had found the crown and this... thing, she was all serious and gloomy and barely left the nest. To expand the harpy race, she mumbled at night, to expand, to multiply with many eggs. The three sisters, Celeste, Triéste and Finesse did not like the sound of this. But to fly somewhere else...? Customization Notes: - Crown: Nighmare King crown, painted - legs: painted - tail: Brickwarriors - wings: Brickwarriors - wand: I don't remember - vambraces: Brickwarriors, painted - hands: skelton hands, cut off and glued I had been wanting to make a really old harpy for a long time, but one that looked a bit different than the young sisters. When the Nightmare King was released, I finally made found the parts I had been imagining. The most interesting bit was deciding the color of the crown and the vambraces. I did not want to give her a real weapon as harpies don't use weapons, but a scepter of some sort. I like how it is mirrored in the color around her eyes. I was glas the legs mix well with the Chima "belt". Had to paint the crotch though.

I am very disappointed of the harpy. I have always been hoping for a good harpy, but this? Ok, the non-human legs are nice, but the colors?! Dark Blue legs? Purple wings? The wings are too small. And when will they learn that the claws-in-hands does not look like claws, but like claws IN HANDS! The torso is ok, but the rest... I wanted some reinforcements fot these girls: Harpy Sisters by -

Whose intellectual property is this Elven House?
Wardancer replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Oh yes, this was quick. Thank you for pointing that out! “The Last Homely House“ is a name I would never habe guessed. The maker needs a better marketing strategy. I am going to buy the instructions from him. -
Helle Everyone, I found this: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005723013066.html?spm=a2g0n.detail.1000014.14.5fe626b1rt0wCk&gps-id=platformRecommendH5&scm=1007.18499.332340.0&scm_id=1007.18499.332340.0&scm-url=1007.18499.332340.0&pvid=a6311f33-9b2d-420c-8d9c-c3a8da8eef1d&_t=gps-id:platformRecommendH5,scm-url:1007.18499.332340.0,pvid:a6311f33-9b2d-420c-8d9c-c3a8da8eef1d,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238116%232002&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21EUR%21186.60%21131.38%21%21%211405.13%21%21%40211b801816961578038025394ed099%2112000034121584232%21rec%21DE%21%21AB I believe some private person built this and some Chinese knockoff company stole the idea to sell it on Aliexpress. I do not want to support such theft, so I hope to find the real creator here and maybe buy the instructions from him. I could not find it on rebrickable. Any ideas?

There are some horse heads on bricklink, but I do not see how any of these would make a decent horse. Unless you wish to use customization techniques like painting or cutting, which is pointless, because normal horses will look better and they are easily available. One idea could be to use a horse helmet and fix it to the centaur body and somehow conceal the fact that there is no head underneath.

Thank you. This showed me shields I was not aware of. The stickered stag shield from the Bricklink set is beautiful. Too bad it is ultra rare.
