LEGO Elves 2017 Discussion
Wardancer replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks. The Video clearly shows that the shields are stickers. At least the square ones in the big set. Good for customizers. There is a slight chance that the shield in the smaller set is printed though. It looks rather printed. -

Dark Green 62 Email Farbe, Enamel paint (glossy) by Revell This is one of the few paints which matches an original LEGO color straight out of the can. I would say 98% similarity. It is a bit glossier than LEGO, so semi-gloss it if you like. -

The black gargoyle is so good I don't even know what to customize. Except getting rid of the armor and exchanging the hairpiece. -
Oh it was you who built this. I did not realize it when I saw the MOC in flickr. I particularly like the legs. In so many builds you can see open ball joints which does not look natural. With you technique, however, the legs look very realistic. Is it still poseable?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
Wardancer replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Some might say it is repetitive to have another female elf. But my heart jumpeth for joy! The forest maiden was a wood girl, but this one is different. Female elven hairpiece (with yellow ears! no fleshie!) yes please. We cannot see the torso fully yet, but it is more armored than the forest maiden, who was basically in her bathrobe. At least leather armor would be great. And yes, a new shield. Sadly not the big roundish one. Hopefull at least the newer longer shield (as in the Egyptian warrior or the bear shield). The pictures seems to show some light blue, which might deviate from the forest color scheme. The pearl gold sword sucks though because pearl gold is ugly. I would have preferred legs, but maybe there are some alternatives. Edit: Ah, so much light blue. Then she is a High Elf, the first of its kind. a new faction born. And FINALLY a female head with nougat cheeklines, which is the defining feature for Elven heads. This rare legpiece might work: http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=970c01pb12#T=S&C=105&O={"color":105}- 1,421 replies

Could someone confirm whether the shields with the Goblin King logo are printed or stickered? -
Thanks AmperZand. I like her best, too. The skeleton hands cannot move anymore. I cut them off and glued them onto the arms. To give the glue more surface to stick to I put the thin parts of normal minifigure hands inside the hollow arms.

Finally, chariots pulled by big cats can be made. They don't seem to have gaps for saddles?

Minifigures. Or are they?
Wardancer replied to legostarwars1425's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I suggest defining figs by family resemblance: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_resemblance The criteria you all have already mentioned. I would add a few aesthetic principles such as cartoonish simplification, simple colors and certain ratios of dimensions. Plus any number of classic elements like heads or hands. family resemblance is a more open concept then the usual list of exclusive criteria which definitions are. -

Thanks for pointing that out. Dark blue will be a very welcome color for a dragon. -

Interesting, are there any pictures of Ashwing yet? Or is it this yellowish "dragon" I saw in the Elves thread? -

Thanks for pointing this out! Hmm so it is stickers only. This gives more customization options, but looks a bit cheaper. -
Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

I dunno if I am allowed to revive this thread, but I honestly believe it makes sense... Good news: 1. New shield in 41150 Vaiana's Ocean Voyage. In the background there is an ominous dark green on black shield with a pagan deity's face on it. I believe it is very useful for making forest/tribal factions such as wood elved, forestmen, vikings etc. And even better is... 2. New shield and stickers in Elves Magic Rescue from the Goblin Village 41185 Not only has this set a new black shield with an epic golden eye on it, it also has two stickers or printed tiles with the same logo. The golden eye has a Sauron feel to it. If the tiles are stickered it means that it will be easy to make a new faction. Put the stickers on other shapes of black shields, banners, horse bardings etc. I can imagine any dark mystic faction from dark elves to evil humans, you name it. These two are fine examples how usele sets have a positive impact on the historic themes. 3. New banner shape in Ragana's Magic shadow castle 41180 Although they are pink and violett, there is a new shape of banners in this set. -

Dark Tan It has been mentioned, but I improved the recipe. MATT 89 by Revell Because this is too light pour in a little MATT 82 until it matches. I would say it gets 95% similarity. An example, here you can see real Dark Tan and my mix next to each other: Dryad Fiérce by MWardancer, auf Flickr -

With the swirly leg piece and the wings I can finally make a good gargoyle wizard for my custom gargoyle army. Painting these might not be easy though. Do you guys think the clear parts of the wings can be detached? And do you think the inside of the swirl leg piece can be taken out? -

General Murcielago on Demagogue the Cold One
Wardancer replied to Wardancer's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I have 5 of these mini indominus rexes, each of which cost 1 Euro. If I had used original raptors it would have cost 75 Euro. Also I like the knockoffs better, because the mini indominus' head looks more like a cold one than a raptor. Raptors look like too much like dinosaurs.- 6 replies

General Murcielago on Demagogue the Cold One Cold ones are the Dark Elves' mount of choice during all seasons, but foremost in winter, when shadows get frosty and the lizards thrive. How to recreate this character ?
Wardancer replied to Morangxs's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hmm if I were you I would take heads, put them in round 1x1 bricks, customize a torso so it supports two heads at an angle and drill two more holes in the torso to support two more arms. The official Lego solution for four arms won't work because it uses two Torsos and this will be too tall. Or Even better, attach heads to the piece ChristopherLee mentioned.
