  1. Ah, something like blue tack would have been useful. I don't mind a permanent solution, but I was rather nervous during the process. The idea with minifig hands is great. I am going to order 6 dark red hands I think.
  2. Good point. If you leave all of the claws out the Wing looks a bit empty. Maybe one claw does not look like a hand. Edit. Just tried. One claw looks odd, because it is too long. Without claws is ok. The best way will be to customize very small claws I think.
  3. Haha, I never had that idea! But Attaching Smaugs wings to a normal red Dragon would be very difficult I guess.
  4. Warning: This thread might cause discomfort with your current dragon situation. Viewer discretion is advised. The Dragonification of Smaug the Wyvern Ever since the discussion whether Smaug was a wyvern or a dragon came up, I felt the need to give arms to the ultimate LEGO creature. According to some, dragons without arms are merely wyverns and therefore sad creatures. Would I dare to lay hands (pun intended) on such a marvellous creature? Would I dare drilling holes in it? When customizing a minifigure, you have to throw away parts sometimes because you destroyed them with paint, glue or drills. You cannot do that with an expensive dragon torso. Unlike the green fantasy dragon or similar molds, Smaug's front is much slimmer and curved. There is no flat straight surface where you could simply attach dragon arms. They would have big gaps and wrong angles. So I needed to carve and sand the arms to fit a threedimensional plain. This was easier than I thought. Also at this point there is no risk damaging the body yet. Then I drilled the holes to attach the arms. This fortunately worked well. Attaching the arms afterwards took over an hour because the pins I attached would not stick. The arms cannot move. It is impossible to achieve that because of the uneven shape of the torso.
  5. Another bear-related part: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=14769pb028#T=C&C=34
  6. I wouldnt call it kitbashing, but building a fig. I enjoyed Dexter a lot. I cant help you built the figs, but here is the normal procedure. Go to bricklink, open the cataloque, go to the minifig, torso category. Scroll a lot, look at hundreds of torsos. Decide. Check price. Repeat with legs. Repeat with heads. Repeat with hair. Make a wanted list on bricklink. Use the "by shop" feature to show the shops that have your Parts. Compare prices. Order. Celebrate. Realize that the chase is better than the catch.
  7. Bears cannot take saddles, so some technique will be necessary to make them mountable. I am going to use the "fake leg" technique I used for Snaefellsness the white bear (see my signature).
  8. I fight for the right to keep and arm bears!
  9. I did the obvious thing: I bought 4 brown bears. As soon as I have the time I will customize bear cavallery with bear shields.
  10. Noooo, after the CMF 3 Elf incident I have always feared this would happen again. I am going to need a lot of these rogues. Interesting, the rogue seems a direct answer to at least two custom printing endeavors I know. One was trying it on Kickstarter, one on Flickr. With TLGs release these will be exterminated. Also an other custom product I know is directly attacked by this.
  11. I recently bought a Scutter fig which is a scorpion like you suggest. I took it apart though and will use it to make another humanoid regular fig. somehow it violates my Elven aesthetics to make a spiderlike fig, I dunno why.
  12. Even if languages divide us, I feel we're all sitting on the same boar. I googled pictures of the famous boar in the LOTR story mentioned above. Must have been a mighty beast.
  13. If you're talking about me you misunderstood me completely.
  14. Randon imformation: "Boar!" is a word German kids say when the are impressed or amazed (like the English "Wow!"). Just saying...
  15. Thanks! Yes, an Amidala dark elf would make a fine queen. Especially the helmet is great. I was Looking for a queen and thought about the Bellatrix Estrange from Harry Potter, but she is too expensive. Maybe I can use the upcoming Maleficient for a queen.
  16. Thank you. The torso is from some old Atlantis sea creature fig. Hammerhead shark I guess.

  18. Thanks, I am going to upload a new dark elf today or tomorrow.
  19. I like Maleficients helmet, it is useful for dark elf or demonic factions.
  20. Sounds like a good plan. The hippogriffs are quite expensive unfortunately. I have three, and this only because I found the last one for very cheap. Painting was not very difficult. I did not paint the hinges which hold the wings on the inside. Paint would surely peel of if it moves. The straight lines around the feet I made by using tape. For the eyes I painted the holes first in black and then the yellow afterwards. The most difficult thing is the fake leg technique. When you cut of the studs you risk damaging the expensive body. I have five giant eagles here, too, they also will Look fine with the fake leg technique I hope.
  21. Thank you. Please copy all you wish. Hippogriff division? How many do you have? Are you aware that the pegasus wings are now available in brown in the angry birds mighty eagle? Once I get them I will make a hippogriff in brown.
  22. Bad boars, bad boars, Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do... when they come for you?! Great! Love the poseability. Sniffing us out they are!
  23. I like the way your picture turned out. The wings remind me of old steel roofs or something. Maybe I need to have an eye on Kreo as well. Small update: I took a better picture of the whole group and exchanged it in my post above.
  24. ha! Good one. If you imitate me, I shall indeed take this as a compliment. But often one and the same idea emerges in more than one place. Who can say whose idea was first... What are the hands you use? Crab? I dont recognize your wings?!
