Looks great man, the shape is awesome and the rigging is brilliant! Although I'm not a fan of just the bow and stern being brown. I understand that you can't make them red because of the top half of the hull section, but perhaps consider making the rest of it brown? Looks great though, is the symbol on the sails your design? EDIT: Just realised this is my 4,000th post, woot!

Hello there! It's great to see another pirate fan out there. Are you familiar with Classic-Pirates.com? With fresh and exciting content reguarly blogged on the frontpage, it is the original and best LEGO Pirates communities, far superior to any others. Welcome to Eurobricks!

Better pictures of buildings in my harbour
Captain Zuloo replied to Blackheart Brit's topic in Pirate MOCs
How strange...I see no images on 3 different computers (all on different internet connections). -
Tony, I had a look at your video, and I'm impressed. I was half expecting the bridge to flex with the weight of an AFOL train on it, but it didn't. It seems really sturdy. I'll now proceed to your Flickr account and try to hunt down some more photos of your module with the rest of the layout. Thanks for compiling that video, it's one thing to see pictures, but video really makes it come alive.

I'd like a MOC expert tag...now all that's left is to build some expert MOCs. (See me about it in 20 years)
-
First of all, why not just build it a little wider and have your tracks 8 studs apart? Alternatively, you could indeed use some flexitrack, and as you are using RC trains, you can use them without having to worry about electrifying the lines. Another alternative is having the track 0 studs apart as that is quite easy to do with standard curves, but 2 apart is a little tricky.

MOC: Santa Fe Western 4-4-0 Locomotive
Captain Zuloo replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Perhaps try adding some weights inside the boiler of your loco, it may give the wheels some more traction. Pleased to hear it is running under its own steam. -
Me too. Although I've really only built one train, my Pacific National NR Class was based on a real train in Adelaide, where I used to live, and my current MOC project is this train which I recently went on.

Hey there! It seems your image links are dead, even when I tried to go directly to them. Please ensure the images uploaded correctly so we can see your harbour! -
Thanks Rick. As soon as I saw Stone, I thought that horrible Jack Stone line must have produced train track. But now I'm back in the loop. Thanks.
-
This may or may not be a silly question, but what is DkStone track?

I think it certainly deserves more cars, at least two more. It would really be a shame to only have 2 cars behind such a grand locomotive. This car is supurb TheBrickster, much like the rest of this Santa Fe collection. For realism perhaps it could be made slightly longer, but that's your call. I like the use of old school yellow windows. They contrast well. The only thing I might suggest is for the bogies, get rid of the 2 studs between each wheel, and put ladders on the end of them like on 10194. This is the sort of car that has these ladders, and I think they would fit with the railing rather well. Did you ever decide to electrify this train, or are you still having trouble?

The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour. Definately one for the WTF category! That horrible film is what we have to thank for film clips like these:

Correct, the vertical lines (which for those who don't know are there because on real ships, the sails were made out of long strips of canvas sewn together like that) are indeed just pencil done heavily 2cm apart on both sides. So long as you bring a good sound system and a copy of your album The Future Looks Grimm.
-
The ship isn't actually minifig scale, it's more illusion minifig scale. That is, it's a little smaller, but still looks good with minifigs. I took measurements and converted feet into studs, but I only used them as a guide, as every tall ship was different. Izzy's torso is from the older sets, yes. It is the original wench torso. That's for the Fellows to know, and the rest of us mere forum users to never find out. She'll have your head for that one! You are almost right. It is Izzy Kilmartin, only 1 "L".

Nice find Mister Phes! I particuarly like the BB figurehead who seems somewhat concerned by the whole thing. It's also nice to see islanders, santa and a number of ninjas. Again, good find, and I'll be sure to look up more of this guy's work. -
Holy crap, that's really nice! I usually disike LDD creations just because I prefer seeing real bricks, but this is something neat! You have done a very good job, I'll offer more feedback once the BS folder is public.

Who told you that? It seems very silly to only give a store 5 of each set. Makes no sense at all.

Ricecracker, that's a fantastic tutorial, but the images are far too large. Please resize them when you can.

MOC: Santa Fe Western 4-4-0 Locomotive
Captain Zuloo replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
To continue on with what Yoshi648 said, what is the turning mechanism on the front bogie? My initial thoughts were that removing a flanged wheel would allow it to work in the same way as a 2-axle car, although after building a MOC-up of your loco's wheels, I see that isn't the problem. It does indeed have to do with the front bogie, and Yoshi648 is correct with his fix. Use the same mechanism that runs 10194. The wheels do indeed need to be able to point lefot and right, but they also need to be able to move side to side in order to negotiate curves. I didn't try this with 2 flanged drivers, but I think it would work. In short, 10194 front bogie turning mechanism = problem gone. -
Very nice! Leftover parts? You're the reason there are no orange parts on Bricklink! So it has no headlights, but it has cabin lights yes? Do you have any photos of the lighting effect?
