Toy Story 7597 Western Train Chase
Captain Zuloo replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I can't say this one is favourite, and it probably won't wind up in my collection. In my opinion TheBrickster, the new cow catcher is a bad thing. In steam train MOCs, I always enjoy seeing what people have come up with for their cow catchers. I feel that this part will signal a lot less custom cow catchers. On a plus note, there are large dark red driving wheels! Also, it seems there are dark red 2 x 4 round slopes as seen on 10194 which could mean some interesting dark red locos! Dark red is one of my favourite colours, and in my opinion a big steam engine would look supurb in dark red. It has some interesting parts, and some nice minifigs (I wonder does Bacon actually hold coins from the pirate theme?) but I think those will be Bricklinked items for me. I'm not really a fan of this set, and I don't think it will be in my collection unless I find it really cheap. And is it just me or is the driving rod on the inside of the wheels? -
Ah, so yours weren't an afterthought? I look forward to seeing the complete Vesta man.

Another brilliant MOC Teddy, you really are one of my favourite builders. I really like how you have made the brown floor. Looks very expensive with nice polished furnature etc, and the different shades of brown work really well. I'm impressed by this, well done.

I look forward to seeing the rest of these entries. We have 11 done so far...

Looks great! But it seems strange that there is a pantograph atop the loco as it is a cable repair truck. So wouldn't that mean that when it goes to repair a dead wire it wouldn't be able to do so because the pantograph can't extract power from the cable? Never mind, I'm confusing myself. Looks tops, and your moving platform design is cool too.

Looks great, but images are bigger than my front door! Eurobricks has an image size policy of a maximum image size of 800 x 600. You may find this tutorial useful. Should you have any trouble, don't hesitate to let me know and I'll be happy to lend a hand.

Thanks Admiral B! The story behind the hatches is an interesting one: I had just spent hours getting the deck aligned correctly with the limited assortment of tan plates I had when I realised I didn't leave a hole for the ladder. But I needed some way of access between decks, so I devised this. Unfortunately though, they don't open.

The Brick Broadcast Episode #1
Captain Zuloo replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A number of people have requested an iTunes feed via a number of different channels. Just to clarify, we do plan to set one up, but iTunes requires a few eoisodes in the feed to create an iTunes podcast. So I will set one up as soon as we reach 5 episodes. -
Looks great! Gee, it has a lot of parts and alot of bags! So many details which weren't evident from the pictures! Thanks for posting this! BTW, what is the music?

Please do try to use less exclamation marks and ones, and try to properly capitalize your words as it is much easier to read correctly formatted text. Thanks!

Looks good, although not too sure about the ribbons. I think you would do better using string. In regards to the name, I don't mind you using it at all...BUT: Grandeur is a French word meaning majestic beauty and power, so having HMS in front of a French word is kind of silly. It's like saying the English France.

The Brick Broadcast Episode #1
Captain Zuloo replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This theme goes for a total of 1 minute which is slightly too long. But we had a 2 minute episode, so we thought we'd share with you the whole theme. We have been fairly successful with 'Behind the Helm' in the past, so we have good vibes about The Brick Broadcast. -
Hello there LEGO fans! Welcome to the very first episode of The Brick Broadcast - 'Behind the Helm's parent. No need to ramble on here, go ahead and listen to the interview! Download The Brick Broadcast - Episode #1 And for those who would prefer to read it: CH: Hello everyone, and welcome to Episode #1 of The Brick Broadcast! I’m Connor Hicks and joining me today is my lovely co-host Izzy Kilmartin. We just wanted to give you a brief introduction to this new show. IK: The Brick Broadcast is a new initiative from the ‘Behind the Helm’ team. Classic-Pirates.com’s ‘Behind the Helm’ has been a huge success, but as it was originally intended as a LEGO pirates interview show, we couldn’t really stretch out to other themes as much as we would have liked. CH: So, we decided to start a new all-theme show, The Brick Broadcast. The Brick Broadcast is a radio show put together by those responsible for ‘Behind the Helm’. It will be very similar, except it will cover all themes, not just pirates. It will still include interviews with MOCers and LEGO employees as well as other interesting personalities within the online community. IK: The Brick Broadcast won’t replace ‘Behind the Helm’, it will exist beside it. We will be aiming for 3 episodes of The Brick Broadcast to 1 episode of ‘Behind the Helm’. CH: The Brick Broadcast has a specially written theme song by fantastic electronic artist Jason Grimm, known as Grimmy on Eurobricks. His album, ‘The Future Looks Grimm’ can be found online and in some record stores. IK: We will be setting up an iTunes podcast in the future as soon as we have a few episodes to put on it. So it will be as convenient as plugging your iPod into iTunes and clicking the “Sync” button. But until then, we can be found online at www.thebrickbroadcast.com which is proudly hosted by our producer, Jeff Maltbie, who is known as ‘Commodore Hornbricker’ on Eurobricks and Classic-Pirates.com. CH: On our site you will be able to find episodes, links, a blog and a mountain of other goodies. IK: Well that’s all for Episode #1, we hope that you’re a little more informed now, and that you all have as much fun listening to our new show as we are having producing it. CH: Thanks for joining us everyone, and we look forward to seeing you for Episode #2 of The Brick Broadcast. Thanks! =)

Updated with expo pics: Lots more on Flickr! ---------------------------------------------------- Hey all! Some of you guys may remember seeing a video of Blocksford 2009: Blocksford is my LEGO layout. It is exhibited at the Bombala show, a small country show a few hours drive away and at its main expo, Canberra Model Railway Expo. Both of these are at the end of March, so I have one and a half months to complete it for the 2010 displays. This thread could easily be placed in the town forum, but I figured as it is mainly a train layout, I'd post it here. Anyway, below are a few pictures of what it is so far: Higher res images can be found in my Flickr. More to come. Comments and suggestions appreciated.

I'm generally 100% agains modifying LEGO, except with the odd decal or using custom made parts such as BBB wheels and Brickarms weapons. But as for cutting things, that's not my cup of tea. I do however like the RC to 9v conversion instructions. For now I have all the 9v track I need, but I have no doubt I'll require more in the future, and it certainly looks a good method of electrifying RC tracks. To an extent it even offers the possibilities of converting the new LEGO flexi-track to 9v, although that would probably be more trouble than it's worth. Can't say I really liked the look of the flexi-track in that article, but that's possibly just to do with the sleepers being light grey as opposed to the dark grey I'm used to. Anyway, thanks for sharing. These articles offer some interesting ideas, and some that I'll potentially consider in the future.

How does it go for joining up at the other end?
-
Don't be upset at his post count, be pleased at your post quality. I'd rather read quality posts from someone with 1,500 posts to crap posts from a member with 4,000+ posts.
-
Ok, time I share a proper picture of myself: That's me announcing a song at a band gig about 3 months ago.
-
Time will tell what lies ahead...
-
It isn't any surprise when he averages 12 + posts per day. Just so long as Big Cam continues posting good posts, not crap.

Looks fantastic TheBrickster! I hope being a caboose it doesn't signify the last car of the train. I think a nice log transporter would be nice there, although wold it be fitting with a western train? Maybe you'll have to make it a cacti transporter instead. Although I think it's a little red. I feel that it would be nice to break it up a little, just not sure how. I'm probably wrong, but perhaps swapping the red ladders for black ladders might help. Anyway, it's a nice addition to the western Santa Fe.

After some time in my local model railway club who mainly model Australian trains, I have learnt what great rail heratige we actually have here. Have a look around at Aussie trains Peter, I think you'll be surprised.

There ya go! I thought that put the tracks right next to each other, but it seems I was wrong. This is indeed your solution. Thanks FreeBee
