Wow, that's so nice! I like the simple interior and the sturdiness of the tower. I recently ran into a really solid blog serie about Hadrian's Wall on a miniature wargaming blog, but alas, I cannot find the link now. There was a huge amount of info, photos and in-scale stuff, basically what you need but only in resin instead of abs. edit: got it! http://www.longrangelogistics.com/2010/06/18/progress-report-new-15mm-scale-hadrians-wall-range-gateways/

pantelis, can you just stop, please! Very nice MOC! Lovely build and beautiful photos, they bring back the memories of old lego promo materials. what's the number of pieces (without figs)? I guess that there are more than I'd guess, I think roughly 200 bricks?

Thanks! I hope that the gift will be appreciated! I need to finally force myself into some MOC, but so far I got a total mess in my lego, and absolutely lack any ideas. Maybe in a few weeks or so, at least I did a small cleaning today.

I had so much fun designing this birthday gift that I decided to share it. It's for my son's friend, and I really think that it's cleverly thought out for such a small set. Are the knights friends? Are they foes? Are they from a different family branches that have a feud with each other, War of Dragons style? Maybe they met for a training joust. Or do they travel together to some foreign land? Heck, are they brothers? You decide.

Great idea, this could be a funny long-term project with lots and lots of stuff from smallest sets to big castles!

YER BEST CASTLE SET - ROUND 1 GROUP 6
Aine replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
MMV is amazing, no doubts about it. But I had a great memories from when I got my 6103 byck in 1980's and I played all the Robin Hood and Ivanhoe stories. I know that objectively speaking this is not a great set (rather tiny one, hehe...), but the plyaing possibilities and the nostalgia factor overwhelmed my reason. :-) Also, it's kinda funny how the randomness of our game works, and once you acknowledge that there will be big sets competing with small ones, I'm willing to support the underdog. A small note,: I think that lego could have had thrown a few pieces into these boxes (even though this would defeat the purpose of "minifigs only" set), just a pair green plates the size of the set's box and a few small bricks so that we've got a terrain to fight on. But nvm, it's still my beloved set, and I still got those dudes. Wait, my kids have them. :-D- 92 replies

YER BEST CASTLE SET - ROUND 1 GROUP 6
Aine replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This one was easy. What did I vote for? Lets play a guess game: it's a big set, it has a yellow tudor panel, and there are birds all over the box and they are not a parrots. ;-)- 92 replies

Hehehe, nice one! I really like the action, and there are so many different ideas (training dummy, smith in work, etc.) for such a small moc. I generaly like the gray trunks (more natural than the brown) but maybe you could make it green in bottom (moss) and/or more round in shape; this one looks a little bit unnatural to me.

This is an amazing castle. i really love the front view, lots of contrasting stuff: rockwork and walls, grey vs. the small tents, Wonderful!
-
I honestly like it this way, it's a great contrasat with the elaborate tower, and the plain blue desk looks so calm. :-)
-
Isn't it a tower by the sea? ;-) Lovely design, and the blue for rooftop is pretty courageous! I like the middle section the most, and the shoreline is cleverly done!

Former Total Noob (now just noob) starts Castle Project
Aine replied to derEselausErgste's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This thread is becoming my favourite! :-) Also, don't sell the figures unless you're desperate for the money. You can keep them, it's not like they eat your bread, and you may find them useful later on, or maybe your children would love them. And if you'll find out that you really don't need them - now it's too soon, I guess, you just washed them of dust - BL will be there for you 24/7/365. Otoh, if you're really resolved to sell them, do it beofre you'll get an emotional attachment to them. You know, someone even might try to persuade (manipulate?) you into not selling the toys that you got since childhood, by suggesting that you may later regret the sale, coz you'll be missing your small plastic buddies. ;-) tl, dr: DON'T SELL!
