  1. But you don't select channel, instead you "pair" the controller to hub. And I think you can't pair it with two hubs...
  2. Maybe the only reason is to control what's plugged to the A and B sockets...it indeed looks bit unfortunate.
  3. Any idea what's the height of the new hub compared to old battyery box? It shouldn't be taller, because the plugs are on the side, but I just wonder how it compares exactly.
  4. Indeed! I find it suprisingly nice, that the current (60051) passenger train rear wagon just "pretends" to be an engine. If my boy (same age) wants to play with it (and he likes to play without motor) I just give him the unit without "motorized" locomotive, and that's it:) And the 4564 I wanted to rebuild for PF - it's still motorless and he likes it that way too :)
  5. This is what I miss here from time to time - a "Lego way" (combine what you have) with an attempt to answer a question "what would an X engine look if designed not in "model" scale, but in a standard more "toyish" scale. So bring it on! And this one turn out pretty great. Of course it's now tempting to fix some bits by adding pieces that were not in original sets, but it's a great base for experiments!
  6. And imagine just how much more interesting (and informative for YT viewers who don't follow/don't know other sites) such video would be!
  7. I've recently attempted to rebuild 4564 for PF, and you can follow a thread I've created: The outline is, because I didn't own original, my plan was to "redesign" it, so that it could hold PF components. In the end I've settled on building it (almost) vanilla version, but instead planned to equip it with 9V battery and IR receiver. The bottom line is, I haven't yet motorized it - to put it simply, my kids don't play with those often, and if they do, they prefer to just push it by hand :)
  8. Since the boost connectors are released, is there an info for what the wires are assigned to, somewhere? Oh, just found this:
  9. The lugpol forum does not have an open registration, and apparently administrators rarely check the registration requests, so it's kinda hard to register. I haven't even tried as I only lurk there, so I wouldn't be even able to post anything there.
  10. Haven't yet checked it, but this is the thread with more info: http://www.lugpol.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30866 (it's in polish though, obviously:) )
  11. My thoughts as well. I must admit Chuggintons spoiled those locos a bit for me (this, and Santa-Fe if I'm correct). Now whenever I look at those, I cannot help myself but I see their faces, the lamps make me think about nostrils etc. It's one of those "cannot unseen" things - gotta hate the personification of the engines :D Back to topic - I'm curious, it's 6-stud wide, but it's quite long. I wonder how it compares to other 6-wide locos, most notably the official ones. I don't yet own any MOCed (or even SECed) engine, but I'm pretty sure I won't go larger than the 6-studs, because I ain't no modeller. On the other hand, at some point I'd love to have something other than official ones, so I need to start bookmarking some :)
  12. Aye - I was just thinking this design could be forced by the battery box, but that wouldn't make sense.
  13. Hmm, I was just thinking there's small difference on the outer side, when they connect, but it doesn't seem so - it's just emphasized somehow on the pictures...
  14. Just wondering why do the both trains have grill tiles attached to the sides where battery box is?
  15. Wondering how is it going to affect prices of current sets. I haven't yet stocked on switches, maybe it's time to
  16. I must say the 60198 is quite appealing. As someone who just was pondering the idea of rebuilding (or buying some used one) 7898, I would say this one relieves me from having to do that: * green loco? check! * crane? check! If only the price wouldn't be so crazy...
  17. Nice, I wanted to rebuild that one too - but since I don't even own 60052, my plan was to bricklink it all (I even attempted at locomotive with space for AAA battery holders instead of battery pack, but I need to learn how to build custom baseplates properly to finish it. Can share the model if you want). And yes, some of the green parts bump the price up a bit. Currently I put the idea on hiatus, as the leaks showed the new cargo train is going to include crane as well. Thanks for sharing your stab at it, appreciated and good to know there's more of people who, after getting back to Lego, are faced with sad fact that many great things have been discontinued long, long time ago:(
  18. There's also this guy from Australia: Not sure how long he keeps it assembled though.
  19. @GoldenmasamuneAh, I've stumbled upon your thread previously, just didn't connect nicknames. Thanks! Sorry for derailing a thread, disappearing now :)
  20. Indeed! I've been planning to assemble 7898 (probably via bricklink as I don't own original, and I dont need full set, just loco and crane wagon) with power functions, but now I wonder whether I should get new one instead... PS. @Goldenmasamune any links to details of your conversion?
  21. @sed6 Nice! Mine are definitely not as heavily stuck as yours in the video, but I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future:)
  22. Just noticed 7895 (switch tracks) is listed under "now or never" sales in my region (PL).
  23. @wooster could you link those images?
  24. I was wondering what lubricant could be good. In some thread about monorail , I've found out about kontakt 60, but that's just too expensive:)
  25. @dr_spock and now you've just given me idea what to do (no, not trying to break switch, but rather build such motorized switch)! This is nice:) I already have an arduino clone with motor driver built in, and I see the servo you've used is cheap...ok, ok - slow down man, you dont have time for this (but one of these days...!)
