The column marched. It was a traditional French charge, grouping together as many conscripts together into one solid block so to keep the men marching straight in the mouths of the guns. It had crushed every army in Europe, except for one, the British. The French moved fast towards their target, the thin Red Line that had the dark blue and red standards. Any soldier that got those would instantly become an officer. Major Atkinson cocked his pistol and looked at the approaching enemy. This would be his second battle, but his first as Major. Like most British officers, he had bought his lower ranks, but when Major Colon had died of the Pox, he was promoted, and now led his men. Ensign Canning was at the back, making sure the men, some fresh from Essex herself, wouldn't run whilst Sergeant Major Conroy checked the men, his voice blazing at a soldier who's flint wasn't tightly in place on the mucked hammer. Atkinson turned to the right to see the other Major in the South Essex, Major Butcher, an older man who partially resented Atkinson. The young Major was liked and respected by his men, whilst the older was feared. But the old man was not without heart, and strode up to Atkinson. "Good luck Tom" Butcher said, offering him a cigar. Atkinson took it and enjoyed the flavour. "Thank you Frank." Butcher nodded at the young man and strode back to his own company, where Ensign Denny was at the back and Sergeant Major Gilson was also shouting. The French were closing, and soon the South Essex would bleed for Spain's freedom once more. Yes! At long flaming Last! Major Atkinson, SgtMaj Conroy, Ensign Canning, Major Butcher, SgtMaj Gilson and Ensign Denny ready for duteh! "Remember lads! This is for home! For Essex! For my cockles! And for my nomination for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Minifig Category! Hope you enjoy the return. Current infantry count is 194 men, which is basically two companies of men now, so I threw in some more command. Things to Do: Get six more men to make the numbers up Get another base so I can show the two different company's Find a Union Flag to go on my Standard (note my custom one! Thanks for that X-D )

Personally, I have not bought anything in a wee while. In fact, the last items I even looked at were Shako's. A guy was selling about 3 lots of a half dozen LEGO Shako's. I didn't grab 'em because I was on a break from buying stuff. Shame really, I'm thinking of expanding 2nd Battalion

not really. i like armies on show my self.

Probably not, with the sheer amount of men I have now!

Ha, what do you expect. In Essex we sit around swearing and drinking cider! Nah, I did start going far on this with a sort of, hasty fort design. The baseplate staying as it is, the storeroom and prison into the giant hole thing. The first floor being over that which would be stone walls, which would act as a mess hall. The next floor would be wooden and would be the main barracks. The problem's at the moment are: Mortgage: Getting a house so cash is tight. I think I have all the materials I need, but my luck is I need more. Space: My current room is so small, I can't even play my Wii. See that bed in the pics? Thats my chair as well. Work: IT NEVER ENDS Family: I don't like them nosing into my business.

Personally, my greatest annoyance, is the labeling. Too often I find Redcoats made out to be Armada troops, meaning I have been known to miss decent lots. I mean, it's so flamin' annoying! Also, since I started the South Essex, the same person has been doing the same item at the exact same price. One Redcoat over

Not a bad MOC, though I remember reading somewhere that the Charge itself was really only a failiure because of the loss of life, and that they actually took the guns. Anyway, damn good!

Not a bad read mate *y* If you need redcoat pictures, I can help there. I'm one of those wonderful shako nuts you mentioned |-/ -
Ah, so you must have nicked the freaking boat then. "'ere, there's no hubcaps!" "Stuff it! Take the entire flaming thing and run for it!" Blooming thieves. FLOG THEM! FLOG THEM I SAY! FLOG THEM RAW AND THEN SOME! AND THEN HANG THE THIEVING LITTLE WRETCHES! BY GOD MAN!

Wig, my men are from the South of Essex. They think bars an pubs that have sawdust on the floor for the blood are posh, but wouldn't dream of wanting to set foot into them. These are men who know how to be dumb and intelligent AT THE SAME TIME. (Or, Boris Johnson of the Tory party. VOTE TORY!) Also, one of the my Sgt Majors is a certain Edward Elizabeth Hitler...

What is the difference between British and English etc?
Sir Norman Ray replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Pirates
Firstly, I would love to speak German or Russian, they just seem a lot more closer to me. I do understand your point of view, believe me on that. I am always in two minds about everything. I can understand that which great old fart defeated another one can be annoying at times. But I suppose the problem here for us British/English is current debate for those that want to break up the Union, Scotland being the main party for independence. I used to support the idea, but now I see what may happen, not just the Union but also Scotland. And it's nice to know the good old English tradition of pig headed pointless racism still exists in Canada. -

Personally, I don't agree with that. As a person who loves History, I enjoy looking these sorts of things up and learning about them. I enjoy, for example, learning about the American Civil War. It had nothing to do with the UK really, but it's still an interesting topic. I also enjoy learning about Russia, its background, it's changes in politics and such. It also allows me to act all high and mighty when people say "Oh, World War 2 wouldn't have happened if Hitler hadn't existed." It gives me the excuse to say something like "Well, then Europe would have become devastated by the Great Anglo-Soviet war of 1942, ushering in a new era for the British Empire blah blah blah." So yeah, it may not feel important to you, but it's nice to know something. Otherwise you drop into the classic sort of approach when it comes to the English opinion on France. "Oh, don't like THEM, bunch of French poofs they are. Why? Cos their FRENCH. What else of a reason do I need?" "Canadians? All they are are the bastard child of us and the French. I tell ya, if it wasn't for us, they'd be eating frogs and laughing like idiots." Please Note: I am not really that rude or offensive. -

Wrong. England/Great Britain = England/Great Britain England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland = United Kingdom The UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan and lots more = British Commonwealth/Empire Falklands = Dark dingy islands covered in rain and sleet that the UK and Argentina (don't cry for me) both argue is theirs. -

I fear not, the Short Corporal. The man only took the world as every army bar the British was stupid and thought with the old tactics. -

I wasn't expecting anything from Sharpe. I've watched all of them and read ALL the books as well. In fact, I keep meaning to make a scene based on one of the covers. Personally, I was thinking of something a bit different. Maybe a red or Blue with some sort of fish of shellfish on it, or a boat. When I say its the South Essex, it really is, the South of Essex, as I LIVE here in South Essex! -

I don't think there can be a victory. Tomorrow, 5 new redcoat people may appear and vote. Thatn 20 Armada people will appear and so on and so on. Who knows that the new year will bring either. -
TLG sentenced by French Competition Council
Sir Norman Ray replied to xwingyoda's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And people wonder why we British have a natural hatred towards the French. Nah, its not that we've made war against them more times in the last thousand years then Americans eat at McDonalds (woooo! Stereotyping!) nor is that they act like idiots to the world. No, it's because they ruin our fun. We've been saying it for years, but who listens to us? Nah, I'm kidding. The fee is tuppence next to the other companies. Besides, what France needs to go against is Games Workshop. THATS OVERPRICED. -

Damn ye and your sense! Well, We don't ally ourselves with the Armada as they look stupid and the Natives don't wear any clothes! They is in the nuddy! Yeah, this is what being a true British is about. When politics fails, bring on the name calling. -

Make a truce? With the Dons and the Locals? GOOD GOD MAN! We're British! The Dons hate our non-Papist ways and the Locals? Worse then the French man! No, no truce for us you silly little man. We'll be British through and through, and take the buggers on head on! Remember Trafalgar! Remember Waterloo! Remember Sean Bean! *angel choirs sing out* By God, if you wasn't an h'officer and a gentleman, I'D HAVE YOU FLOGGED!
