Secret lego fans
Sir Norman Ray replied to Melbourne pirate fan '87's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Myself, I followed a kind of similar path. I used to play with LEGO a lot as a kid. My brother is eight years older and so I grew up mainly with his hand me downs before getting my own sets. I had a large amount of LEGO, which I eventually stopped playing with around 11, because I was heading off to a grammer school and such. I never got rid of them though. Like yourself, I started Warhammer 40,000 around that time. My family partly supported me, but I got in trouble because my imagination lead to bad grades. Eventually, I moved my old LEGO out of my room and into the garage. After finishing school, college and failing to go to university, I started to get very bored. Warhammer had stopped being interesting, and video games didn't excite me as much. I was addicted to the Sharpe series of books and TV movies, and decided I wanted a Redcoat army, and heard about AFOLism at this time. I was 19. I am now 21, and my family accepts me for what I am. I live in a house with my sister, I pay a mortgage, work a 9-5 style job at a bank, and come home to tinker. My scanner is covered by Market Square and the Yellow Holiday home, and my desk is covered by minfigs and brickarms. By my feet is a Churchill tank and my desk drawers and filled with LEGO and The South Essex, over 200 men strong. In my loft is my old LEGO, handy if I ever need different bits. Work knows what I do. I created a Christmas piece for them this year, and my team won a prize. I was very nervous about showing who I am, but thats me. I find, that if you give people time, people will gladly accept who you are. Just a shame my sister is worried about me going to Seattle in October for BrickCon'09, and she won't let me get Green Grocer. Such is life in your own house, you can a lot, but not all. -Sir Norman "Can I just say, that tank bloody hurts!" Ray. -

Nice work! It's no David Jason, but thats probably a good thing! Well done on this! -
My first LEGO sets were hand me downs I believe. My brother, 8 years older, suddenly stopped playing with his LEGO (pirates and town mainly) and suddenly I had them. Or they were given to me and he built them. I think that was the case later when I bought LEGO sets, he'd build them for me. I'm gonna say Eldorado Fortress and Carribian Clipper, as those are probably the one's I remember most from that time. In recent times, the first LEGO set I got in the new era was probably the Indiana Jones Race for the Stolen Treasure. Not including the large amount of Redcoats bought on Ebay for my Regiament *cough*

As Lord Havelock Vetinari from Ankh Morpork would say: LEARN THE WORDS. Now tie him up from his feet above the scorpion pit. Seriously though, great job on this! EDIT: GOD FREAKING DAMN YOU SAMMAEL! FEAR MY WRATH! Seriously, good show there.

Market Square, got it for Christmas. Outside that though, it was 5 Policeman sets, one police jail transport and a postman with van.

Sir Norman Ray replied to samthelegoman1's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, seeing as it isn't Christmas yet, not for another two hours, I'll post what I know is likely. A bottle of Disarano Ameretto drink. (already got in works secret santa) Market Square, which I plan on doing my first set review on. (I ordered the damn thing cos my mum wouldn't know how to.) The Colour of Magic on DVD. The Dark Knight on DVD. Slippers. I really don't expect a lot else. God, I hate being an adult with his own house... -
Ah, you see, at work, we had cotton wool which I used to made it more snow like. Obviously didn't want that in the pic you see, but thank you!

So here it is, Merry Christmas! So this was something I quickly put together for work. We had a best dressed competition on our banks of desks, and my team asked me for a LEGO scene. After a quick sketch, going through my loft for the baseplate and redesigning as the plate was half the size of my plans, this is what I came up with. The Entire scene Last minute postal delivery. (Hey, it is Royal Mail! ) Anyway, more pictures be here. All I wanted to do was make a nice, happy, relaxing scene. I hope I pulled it off. And thank you for looking at my insanity.

On the one hand, I do like boats, but nothing beats a nice, well built structure to keep warm in. Hmm THere's only one way to find out. FIIIIIGHT! (Watch from about 1.05) Nah, I like structures these days, but I would still like a decent Imperial boat.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. For those brave soldiers that made the Ultimate Sacrifice in service to the British Empire and Commonwealth, and those that have fought in all wars since the War to End All Wars: The First World War The Second World War The Korean War The Suez Canal The Falklands The Troubles The First Gulf War Afghanistan Iraq May they rest in peace I am unable to post this tomorrow on the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month, 90 years since the guns finally ended in France. I post it now for all to see. Brickshelf when open

And thus, the French slaughtered the paradise town in Spain. Seriously, man, this is freaking EPIC. Great job on this!

The new soldiers, what shall I do with them?
Sir Norman Ray replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
Exactly. Learn from history. Wellington lost most of his veteran units after he beat the French the first time, so Waterloo was harder to fight for him. -
The new soldiers, what shall I do with them?
Sir Norman Ray replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well, personally, I do plan to add them to the current South Essex. Now, I know what you all think, I shouldn't mix. But, bear in mind I built my army on a more real life scale then others, each 100 men is a Company. I plan to use them as Grenadiers and Light Company. They look more elite then the other 200 odd men I got, so it makes sense in my eyes, as those two companies were the elites of the Battalions. Just my thoughts. Just don't sell them old ones off! -
Build the grandest army you possibly can
