10210 Imperial Flagship - UPCOMING SET!!!
Sir Norman Ray replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
That is very true, BUT THe point I want to put across is that simply looking at this beauty, picture-wise and when I saw it up close in Seattle 5 weeks ago, the first thing I heard inmy head was the classic British Naval song. Much like how when I look at my WW2 British Platoon with Churchill support tank (which was also in Seattle for Operation Bricklord) always puts me in mind of Land of Hope and Glory. And when I look at my Market Square buildings I think of the opening theme to -Sir Norman "I like to think in songs." Ray. -
10210 Imperial Flagship - UPCOMING SET!!!
Sir Norman Ray replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
After, when we rescued Europe from the French during the Napoleonic wars in such famous battles as Talevera, Trafalgar and Waterloo. When British seamanship crushed the combined French and Spanish navies, and superior military training and supplies slaughtered the French Empire with the aide of our allies. -Sir Norman "So we lost a few battles. We live and learn." Ray. -
Okay, I'm slightly confused here. (Having 2 Woo Woo and 2 Long Island Tea's does that. I'm serious here.) The Green beret, does that have a badge on it? Or does w/ mean without? Either way, its bloddy handy for my British WW2 infantry/ -Sir Norman "I can type! Just..." Ray.

I'd like to just say that I was at BrickCon when this was shown. It looks bloody gorgeous. Seriously, up close, the detail is amazing, and I WILL be saving to buy it with any luck! It'll be grand with the Soldiers Fort I won in the free Raffle they did :D -Sir Norman "Bloody Lucky" Ray. -

The different prices on LEGO in the US vs. Europe
Sir Norman Ray replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I simply accept the prices. Gasp, horror, burn the witch, I hear you say. But I believe in paying for quality. A few weeks back, I was at the toy shop I buy a chunk of my LEGO from (I like to support the smaller chains) and they had a clone, military brand in there. The ones that have noses. Now, they weren't next to the LEGO as such, as either side it was Playmobile or Star Wars, but they were opposite it. The prices were cheap, and I did consider getting a small set. I stopped myself though as I knew it would be an inferior product. There are more and more clone brands slowly appearing I think in the UK. I remember reading a few months back the patent or loophole LEGO had used for years to stop so many clone brands had been thrown out by the EU. And I have actually seen a small rise in them. So maybe, with a gradual rise of new construction toys in the EU, LEGO may be forced to drop prices to remain competitive here as well. THats a maybe. I'm no economist, afterall, I work in a bank. (Great time as well...) Just treat your hobby as what it is; a luxury. I used to pay through the nose for Warhammer 40,00. As previously stated, its not a needed item. Are you going to die without the new set? No. You're not. Yes, it is unfair, but in the end, moan , grumble and move on. Besides, when I go out to the USA in OCtober for BrickCon, I;m going to be buying as much cheap LEGO as I can! -Sir Norman "Has a mortgage, car and kitten to support." Ray. -
You know, all day I've been playing with my new kitten, I've been bit, scratched, pounced on, sniffed, got a headache, cooked a bare minimum dinner because of the old diet, barely been outside and you know what? This, has made my day! Thanks for this! -Sir Norman "Can't wait to have a kitten "done."" Ray.

Hi there, first time requester, so please bare with me. Is it possible for anybody to create me a few, different decals for my WW2 British soldiers. They are very small ones see, as they are Insignias, that go on the side of the arms of troopers. From this page, is it possible for Lance Corp, Corp, Sgt and Sgt Major to be made? From this site can Leiutenant, Captain and Major be made? And if possible, a smaller version of the South Essex's flag for the arm please? Thank you for looking! -Sir Norman Ray.

WWII Afrika Korps Infantry Uniform
Sir Norman Ray replied to Capt. Kirk's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
THought I'd help out with the old British uniform quest, seeing as well, I'd like to see some Tommy goodness to replace the uniforms I have already. The British wore a design known as The Battle Dress, something the American's later copied and called the Ike Jacket. It's noted as the worst Allied uniform produced, but also the most produced. For every, and I mean EVERY, theatre of war, this uniform was readjusted to suit it. I apologise if the images are too big. Generally, these were the main two uniform styles used by Tommies in WW2. All they did was change the colour of the cotton and boom, instant Tommy, just add Lee Enfield. I hope this helps in designing your decals. As said, I'll also keep an eye out, to see what I can do to turn my South Essex (SAH!) from a load of Soviet Colonel clones into, well, a bunch of British soldiers of to kick hun bum. -Sir Norman "Oh crap my kitten has my leg, ARGHHHH!!!" Ray. -
I'll be flying across the Atlantic to be there. I'm contributing to the Operation Bricklord scene! -Sir Norman "Yeah, getting through both British and American customs, with a tank..." Ray.

WWII Wehrmacht Infantry Uniform
Sir Norman Ray replied to Capt. Kirk's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Bloody hell! These are awesome! Ever thought of doing some British WW2 ones? -Sir Norman "Please, oh God please! I dont have an platoon of TOmmies, I have a platoon of Colonel whatshisname from Indy 4!!" Ray. -
Holy crud Hound Knight, your art is awesome! I hate to do this to you, but would it be possible for you to do a pic of one of the Sir Norman Ray sigfigs I have? I'd prefer any Sir Norman Ray really; the real me, Sir Norman Ray of the South Essex, Napolonic Wars or Major Norman Ray of the South Essex, WW2. (The Regular me would be rather, boring in contrast with others! Sir Norman would probably have a sabre and Major Norman would still look rather kindly, revolver drawn and with his smoking pipe that I really need to design...) Thank you for looking at my request! -Sir Norman "I'll probably print it off and shove in peoples faces at BrickCon this October!" Ray.

As a huge MASH fan, I love this! Awesome little chopper, keep rescuing those wounded men! -Sir Norman "Because suicide is painless..." Ray.

As a person who's town has buildings in the Doomsday book (Made by William the 1st in 1060 odd) I like this idea! All the time I see older houses still used, and I think this work wells! Great job!

I like the look of this, though, I wouldn't mind a gander at the 1st floor, just to see the living quarters myself. Odd as it sounds, I'll judge whether to put this on my Birthday/Christmas list from my parents, or continue begging for Green Grocer. -Sir Norman "I'm 21, have a mortgage, house and a car, I can't buy ALL my own LEGO..." Ray.

I'm not a regular in the world of Trains and Town, as such, I don't know what your customs are round these here parts. But I like my beer cold, my brandy large and my LEGO fun. In getting ready for BrickCon'09, I'm going to be contributing to Operation Bricklord, a WW2 scene involving Brickarms. My WW2 South Essex (sah!) will be my main lot, with its MechBrick Churchill tank, but I'm also planning on taking a little bar. As the entire thing has to be modular, and I haven't ever used LDD before, I was hoping some nice folks round these here parts would give some help my little bar/cafe. Please note, there is meant to be battle damage, hence the holes and such. I heard that building Modular buildings in LDD is hard, but being a typical English bloke, I ignored sound advice and dived head first into this. Thank you again for looking. -Sir Norman Ray.

Hey all, I don't know if there is another thread like this, so please forgive me if there is. Anyway, I currently have three Lego Pride and Joys. The First, is my Market Square. Best Christmas Present, only beaten by my 21st Birthday Present from November. (Laser Eye Surgery. MEIN FUHRER! I CAN SEE!) The other two are my two South Essex units, the first being in my signature below and is an early 19th Century British Battalion. The second unit, and my current project, is the South Essex in WW2, which is currently shown here on BrickArms. Attatched to it is Maggie, my MechBrick Churchill tank named after my favourite post WW2 PM (Thatcher) and Simpson character (no prizes there for guessing) Maggie in her modded glory I love my tank to bits. But, it falls apart with the drop of a hat. It last fell apart on Monday morning. Okay, i admit it, I trod on it with my slipper. But I have found that its horribly easy to break this thing, and have to spend an hour repairing it because of the way its built. Even tapping it can be dangerous. But am I the only person here, after hours of painstaking building, who looks at that tube and thinks the world will be a better place? Has anybody actually ever glued LEGO bits together before, and have you regretted it? Please tell, because I plan to go to BrickCon in October with Maggie and the South Essex, and I doubt a NINE HOUR flight will leave that tank in good order, no matter how many shirts I wrap it in. Thank you for reading my ramblings, -Sir Norman "it this or chewing gum. AND I'M ALL OUT OF KICKING THE FORUM CENSOR." Ray.

Holy Crap! That is awesome! Excellent work on getting that many. Shame I'm under 300 Napolonic era troops. -Sir Norman "More!" Ray.

Return of Adventurers?
Sir Norman Ray replied to Sir Norman Ray's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ok, sorry. Just a bit excited. I just haven't been to LEGOLAND in years. Sorry to get everybodies hopes up... -Sir Norman "Wrong as usual" Ray. -
So I was watching TV the today when an advert for LEGOLAND Windsor came up. It was advertising the new kingdom of the pharaohs ride. No Indiana Jones stuff mentioned, but minifigs from the old Adventurers line. Could this be a slight hint to the return of this forgotten series? Just a thought I had... -Sir Norman "I can get VERY suspicious." Ray.
-
Then I came along and bought up over 200 of them at any price Seriously, I need to update my pics here of the South Essex, but its good to see thisold thread return! -Sir Norman "Hey, when was the last time I even posted here?!" Ray.
