What was the last movie you watched?
Sir Norman Ray replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
MASH Ah, the film based on the hit book that would inspire the hit 12 series TV Show. Probably one of the few tributs that exist for the Korean War, despite the director trying to hide its setting. "Fair's fair Henry. If I screw Hotlips and then hit Hawkeye, can I go home too?" -

Transformers: Robots in CGI. Boring Teen film which has more adverts then television. "Nokia, clever Japanese stuff. I'm a good guy and a bad guy at the same time rofls." Seriously, I was almost asleep in the cinema until the final what? 20 minutes? And even then we managed to get some American flag waving. "GO US ARMY! LETS GO KILL THESE ROBOTS WITH GRENADE LAUNCHERS!" Seriously, somebody please get me a human body count for that fight. Full Metal Jacket: Awesome as hell. "If he's General Custer, I'm a HORSE!" If old enough and haven't seen it, go see it. NOW. Batman Mask of the Phantasm: Mark Hamil as the Joker, violence, buildings blowing up, what more do I want? "Nope nope nope! I've seen the guy, no where cute as Batsy, he's like the ghost of Christmas past." A blast from the past and then some. -
But of course! I had to take a picture of it, cos I kept kicking the base and needed to get this thread started. I also wanted some suggestions on what to do really. Though looking at it at times, it could also be a bunker of some sort, say from WW2. Upwards and onwards as they say, though, knowing my luck, it'll get bigger then I planned. Edward_Lowe, we'll have no Colonial influence here! We are British, masters of the world! :-P

Aye, very true,I wonder why that is though. It was a grand base...

Thanks :) Yeah, its rum, simply because Black is an Irishman. I don't think Guinness was around at the time, and whiskey is too high class, and rum was a traditional British ration at the time. I believe soldiers were allowed a half pint of rum a day. As for my troops, yeah, there's a LOT. Half of all my new men are being assigned to the Garrison, as I need another base for my troops... But yeah, you have to occupy the fort with enough men. When I get walls and such in, I'll probably get more cannons and Engineers in it, until that time though, we have two cannon and 5 Engineers. Yeah, there should have been. Maybe when LEGO finally gets round to making more, they'll make a new Fort for the Imperials and use this base, so its bigger and such :) No photo updates today, as no walls I'm waiting for have arrived, sorry.

Thanks for the comments *sweet* I chose this base due to it's rarity, size and shape. The design on it I find is freaking cool, and it was suggested by a good friend of mine. I have three of the other base plate, but none are suitable for a land base. Ones the sea one, moon one and the other arctic. The colour scheme I found perfect for the idea of a ruined castle being occupied theme Wall's and such are due, and I want to build it up from there, though these will be grey and black. Once again, this idea this a fort to stop attackers, not a fancy fort. WE dont HAVE fancy in ESSEX! So yeah, I hope to update as often as possible, as right now, all I have is a rather hollow shell. Gentlemen.

This a grand MOC :) Though personally, after searching through Bricklink, I am slightly annoyed at all the PoTC stuff, but this seems to be the best in a long while :) Will extras be added on, or is this the end?

Lieutenant Colonel Blake looked at his surroundings. He had been based at the Shoeburryness Garrison in Essex, looking after 2nd Battalion. But the fortunes of war had meant he had to take the Battalion to Spain. Where he had been a good drill master, he had trouble in the field. Several mistakes seen by Sir Ray had caused much talking behind closed tent flabs between Blake, Ray and Colonel Sibley of 1st Battalion. He had just so happened, a new garrison had become open, and Wellington needed it manned by a good Organizer. Blake and a lot of 2nd Battalion were quickly transfered. Blake was distraught at the sight in front of him. What he had to work with was his men, some local labourers, Engineers from Wellington's staff and a crumbling castle, well past its prime. Blake had inspected the walls, the base, the men, EVERYTHING, and nothing got better. Black, the Irish Major of the Engineers, handed Blake a glass and poured some rum in it. "Now, ya see Blake, I dun think this a bad place, all it needs is a lick of paint, and it would be grand." Blake looked at the drink and at the Irishman. "The most we could turn this into is a stable, and thats with twenty years planning and hard work..." Black laughed at the man from Essex. "Ah, it'll suit you Protestants just right then!" Blake laughed and sipped the rum. "Well, it's better then sleeping in a field." Black took a swig straight from the bottle and looked Blake straight in the eye and said: "About that, did you want the cell with the rats or with the leaking sewage?" "Seriously, the sewage isn't THAT bad, and neither are the rats!" This is an MOC in progress, growing over time. Expect modern things. LIKE WALLS! So yeah, advice will be nice to be honest *sweet*

Damn, like the title says, we REALLY need Shako's. I've just stopped butchering any eBay bid I can find. The result is I have either a French army, Engineer's or Naval officers. A LOT. Personally, I would prefer the Shako's to be as close as the original as possible. Don't get me wrong, but I really dont want to refit around 100 men here. I'm trying to save money as much as possible.

They would be more useful to me if they were European based as well. Whilst I am effectively paying half price to the rest of you (Thank you exchange rate) I have to pay international shipping fees and the wait is almost two weeks. Buying and bidding on only British bids, no matter the cost, are cheaper and quicker then Stateside orders. And thats even including the postal strikes we had here recently, in which myself and my sellers were all worried about ten muskets and 8 glaives. Out of interest, anybody want a musket or 20? I thought I needed spares, and went a wee bit mental on extra weapon orders (joke :-P )

Knockoff/Clone/Imitation Brand Pirate Sets
Sir Norman Ray replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Clone brands annoy me, simply because they get my hopes up. I mean, ok, on my desk here i have a load of custom made weapons like shotgun and Mauser pistol but thats custom stuff. Would this be alright if they just came forward and admitted what they are doing? Or is there forgiveness in the eyes of LEGO? Also, if we can get custom made made guns and clothes, WHY CAN'T WE GET SHAKO'S?! -
I like these two a lot to be honest, this was grand work :) Though the second has the typical LEGO "Where do they sleep/eat" question :-P
-
Thanks :) To be honest, all my spare Blue soldiers (enough for ANOTHER army...) are being reserved for my next MOC, "Camp Snobby Essex" using my new castle plate thingy, more redcoats, spare artillery (I have so many guns, its stupid.) and hopefully some ruins if I can find some of my old stuff outside, in the garage. Though, its being England at the moment, and its raining cats, dogs, frogs, sausages and water.
-
thanks :) As for you, Phes, stop it. I shall not buy Dons, with their silly helmets and Catholic ideas! :-P
-
Thanks, and good idea :) "DAMNIT JIM! I'M A WRITER NOT A SCENE MAKER!"
-
The day I buy 120 dons is the day my LEGO redvoats get up and start doing Monty Python :-P
-
I think all my posts here should be considered updates. My army changes roughly weekly, new bids opening and closing all the time. As we speak, I await more redcoats, more Shako's and more muskets. The only real major change will be the setting, having won a rare castle base (green with rocks, came with only one castle) and will most likely make a camp out of it.

Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa Mosaics
Sir Norman Ray replied to SirNadroj's topic in Pirate MOCs
I hope they sell high for those poor little guys, very nice work as usual :) -
I'll see what I can do scenery wise :) And I thought people would guess that Spanish Soldiers wouldn't be right next to British, look at Talavera. We gave you a damn fort and you still ran away :-P
-
A battlefield is a large place :-P Who says the Dons are on this field alone? Thanks for the comments, yeah, I know its lacking any real fighting, but I think I wanted it to show the British had pulled back a bit, and I really had a set image on my mind, that I forgot all the small details. When I build my Imperial Camp/Base, I'll try to do better :)

The battle raged in the once Green fields of Spain, blood fouling the once peaceful setting. A mixture of British, French and Spanish blood tainted the soil, but yet the gunpowder still charged and bayonets still stabbed. The South Essex, tired and running low on musket rounds, looked into the eyes of a French charge. The fresh troops could only hold the line safe in knowing that the standards, touched by the King himself, were safe behind them. One was missing, the King

Sorry again for another Double Post *does the sign of the Cross* but I bring more pictures! Currently I have 77 Musket armed, Shako wearing troops, one Shako, Musket and sabre armed Sergeant Major, 7 shako and glaive armed Sergeants including their Sergeant Major, 4 men with tricornes awaiting Shako's, a LOT of officers, cannon crew and my riflemen. Expect more and more, and also check another thread for a little posing I made.
-
Why Thank you, expect another update this week actually. Murphey's/Sods Law struck, and as soon as I took them pictures on Monday, |Tuesday I got 6 shako's, muskets and backpacks I was waiting for! Oh, and the 9 bluecoats that came with them. (Yes, I am cannibalizing other sets, big whoop, wanna fight about it?) All I need now are my glaives and I just bought another 4 red coats and we're sorted for the week! Also< I be bidding on a rare raised LEGO plate/base (came with only one castle) to turn into a sort of base/camp, and I must take a picture of all the cannons I have...

*Looks at that book cover* I'm sure I saw something like that on a school computer once. Keep up the great armies mate :-D
