Whelp. I found some Wave 3 Hidden Side sets at both our local mall toy store as well as- get this- a Marshals/Homegoods. Yeah. Pretty sure that's the gold standard for a poorly going LEGO theme.

I knew it. Well, hopefully it’s true and is a deserving steed.

I actually dig these a lot, although it's funny how Ninjago is now going all out with the Bionicle parallels, now going with a Pacific Islander-vibe with the location and builds. The Jungle Dragon-surprise surprise- is easily my favorite set. I love how lizard-like they made it, with relatively long fingers and toes. I love the head, I like it when LEGO makes these hybrid heads that are partly custom but still have attachment points for more pieces, plus I like the re-use of the Overlord Dragon's lower jaw. The underbite gives it a lot of character and that doofy tongue sticking out further makes him look like an overgrown Gecko. Oh yeah, and it's TEAL. Glorious, glorious teal! The others are kind-of standard to me. There's a bike. The island "village" is a decent little playset, I like the little witch-doctor brew in the cave and the booby-trap in the bushes, I actually like it a bunch. I also like them finding more uses for the blades pack, the totem-golem looks pretty proper. The catamarans are interesting, I love the parts usage at the front to make it look bony. Plus more Bionicle-ish recolors are good with me. Thinking about it though... yeah, it is kinda weird and messed-up they gave the fire character the catamaran and the water controlling one gets nothing, again. However, on the topic of Nya... do you think this could be setting up an underwater season/location with Nya as the focus? Every other Ninja has gotten attention in a subtheme, Nya always gets left out. Having an underwater line would finally give them an excuse to go all-out with the Water character, kind-of like what happened with Hahli Mahri in Bionicle. She could get like, a giant sea-dragon, considering she hasn't gotten a single dragon all to herself. Ever. Plus, it's one of like 2 things Ninjago hasn't tackled yet, aside from Space.

HHHMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm Sorry, it had to be done. I guess this Legacy set is a throw-back of sorts, back to the days where Ninjago dragons exclusively had skeletal/single-feathered blade wings.

I always wanted to comment on this... brings back a lot of memories as a kid/teen getting into LEGO's then-recent Space outing. I love how much bulkier and protected this thing is, and the color usage is perfectly in-line with the theme. Plus the way it opens up is... mwua so good, I'd be playing with that all the time as a kid and adult.

The Buggoid War was a brief but frightening stint in the history of LEGO space, and beings from all across the galaxy were lead into the fray to combat the creeping terror. The Galaxy Squad was formed to combat the hive mind, and they found themselves in need of equipment capable of dealing with the Buggoids. Specifically, they needed a fighter, one with capabilities in and out of atmosphere. One that was versatile and relatively compact. They found what they were looking for in the X-SI. As an experimental air/spacecraft, the X-SI lacks many of the features the actual Swarm Interceptor, most notably it's weapon systems and armor. It also exhibits several details not found on the end result. Namely, the antennae on the nose house a number of important experimental instruments, as do the wingtips and rounded nacelles near the body. The variable wings gave it not only a striking appearance, but held several important functions as well. The wingtips- in addition to holding powerful beam weapons in the official service vehicle- have exhaust vents granting the X-SI VTOL capabilities when the wings are angled downward. This came to be one of the most useful features of the craft, as it could reach incredibly high speeds in one state, decelerate to engage in more intimate encounters, and then hover into a base. No long landing strips required. Here it is in a common hovering configuration. That's not the only benefit of it's hovering capabilities. With the wings fully folded, the SI leaves a smaller footprint than its fixed-wing competitors, freeing up hangar space for other vehicles or even more Interceptors. The cockpit is especially noteworthy, able to freely spin due to vents on the winglets. Many criticized this at first, claiming this wouldn't be useful in . It found use in microgravity, the cockpit able to rotate to whatever the pilot deemed most comfortable, in addition to some niche applications for air-to-ground combat. Of course, the true reason for the rotating canopy comes from the cockpit's function as an escape flier. This could occur from a docked state, the rest of the body able to function as a missile turret. However, this ended up being one of the few failings of the Interceptor, and this function saw exceedingly limited use in action. In spite of this, the cockpit's escape pod feature is credited for saving the lives of countless soldiers, who would otherwise have been killed during crashes or else cocooned by the Buggoid forces. Many beings across the galaxy can thank the advancements of the X-SI for saving their exoskeletons. - This was a lot of fun. I was inspired to make this years ago, after I got the City Space Shuttle containing that stickered wing piece, and getting the training jet set from a later line. Since I only had one of the shuttle, for the longest time I thought I'd never be able to make a prototype Swarm Interceptor... until a few days ago! Someone went to the LEGO Store to dump some of their kid's old LEGO, and I spied the wing piece in the brick recycle! I've spent the past few nights trying to get all the pieces I needed together, and I'm very happy with what I ended up with. Let me know what you think!

DUDE this is exactly what I hoped for! Down to the name... I really hope this is a theme that focuses on famous mythological figures and events. We could get lines based on Greek mythology, Norse, Egyptian, etc. Imagine getting a really good Hydra, or a Scylla and Charybdis set with one of those Greek Warships. Imagine a proper lego KRAKEN, with a Viking warship! The cool head molds for the Egyptian gods and goddesses... I doubt it'll be anything like this, but a man can dream.

I actually tried my hand at making some Hidden Side interpretations and had an idea for a fan-comic (or show) myself. Neat!

I'm working on two things In Studio, first is a Chamber of Secrets playset moc that's nowhere near completion, and the other is a total revamp of the Hungarian Horntail, which I think is a pretty bad set. So, I'm putting my bricks where my mouth is and trying to make a better one, here's some images of the WIP body and legs.

WOW! Your work is stunning as always, I remember you from months ago and I only just came back, and hoo boy what have I missed! The use of that blank armor shell, and the hair is stunningly made and shaped. Great parts usage for the sea floor, that Ehlek head and Galidor pieces especially jump out at me.

Wicked. We definitely needed more combo models in 2007. You did great using the Spinax head and sliver teeth for the head, and I just like the shaping of the creature.

I remember Elves... that was a great theme and this is a great vignette. Lovely.

I've barely posted anything here in like, months, but I've been trying to get back into creative stuff. So, since I like LEGO's original lines a lot, I'm trying to enjoy what they've got, and Hidden Side's pretty neat. I did want to add a bit more to the sets and world, so here's my first start... a possessed refrigerator! This build should just barely fit inside the Shrimp Shack, though ideally as part of an expansion for the back. It's just a normal looking fridge at first... so you take out the food and- Let me know what you think!

Got my response back from LEGO Customer Service on whether or not the Mandalorian figure in the Razor's Crest is a placeholder figure or not, based on the product description."Thanks for getting in touch with us! You've got a great eye! We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we're reaching out for some clarification. We'll find that it's 1 of 2 things.... The minifigure in the set will be as you see pictured, which means we'll be correcting the summary information OR we aren't able to show the actual figure yet due to an embargo by Disney™. Since the set is available for pre-order, we think it's going to be the first situation but I want to be sure! I've made a note of your account and if it's actually going to be a different figure will email you again to let you know. :)"

The Razor's Crest doesn't strike me as a box... what does strike me as one is that First Order Troop Transport. That thing is the epitome of plain, grey, and boxy.

There any hope of them giving the Mando some arm printing? That'd help justify the price a tiny bit more, especially if it is different than the one in the AT-ST Raider.

Well, coming back to the forum after months away... this all sounds very confounding. What on Earth could be the UCS set, and why wouldn't it be an AT-AT when this is like THE year to make one? $160 is pretty wack, I'm also baffled (and will likely be disappointed) that the trend of overpriced sets with almost no good figures to come out of them will likely continue, lookin' at you, Soulless One. And the fact that we're also not seeing more Mandalorian sets is a puzzler, unless that Razor's Crest rumor is true. I suppose things are still somewhat undecided, but dang... it just seems like Star Wars sets are much worse than you used to, and each new iteration is like 25-40% more expensive than the stuff from a few years ago. Ah well. To quote Lando Calrissian, "This deal is getting worse all the time!"
