41999 is just up at the LEGO US Store. Placed my order + a 8879 speed remote control. Booyah! I'm on the west coast btw. Ps. Well, this is interesting. They made the 41999 available for order on the S@H site, but took down 42008, 42009 and other 2H2013 sets. No matter, I'll order the 42009 next week when I get my store credit! OMG OMG! Woot! Got my order confirmation email already!

It's been almost 20 years since LEGO introduced the pinnacle of all Technic sets, the 8880 Super Car (IMO). I'm pretty sure this topic has come up before, and LEGO has introduced a number of super cars since the 8880, but none have come close to the level of complexity of the original. I've seen many MOC that are on the same level if not exceed the complexity of the 8880, but how many people can afford to drop that kind of money on the ridiculously high amount of parts? I'm really hoping LEGO would some day come up with a modern version of the 8880, in a Lamborghini shell!

OMG, 8 more hours! Why is time going so slow! I've been in the office for only 6 hours! Or maybe if they do it by east coast time, I only have 5 more hours to wait!

LOL, feels like getting World of Warcraft and its 1st expansion all over again. This is fricking awesome!

Wow, so lucky. The TRU around here mark up all large LEGO sets by 20%, it's retarded. Actually, they mark up all LEGO sets by 20%. Basically anytime the TRU around here have a sale, you're paying the MSRP price. I love Target a lot more because when they do sale, you're actually paying less. Too bad they don't really carry Technic sets. But I get a lot of City and Creator sets for my nephew at Target during sales.

For an item this limited, it should be 1 per person. Even though we all know life is not fair and we live in a very opportunistic capitalistic society, if a company has the power to be fair, I think they should take the opportunity to do that. Even if LEGO limit every one to purchase 1, they would still sell out the stock fairly quickly and make back the revenue they projected based on the MSRP price. But that's just my opinion. If you are able to purchase more than 1 for investment, more power to you. As for myself, I will be buying one tonight from the US S@H, build it and display it at home. I'm the type of LEGO fan that will build the model A and display it and admire it.

If everything goes as planned, I'll be placing an order for the 41999 and a 8879 IR Remote Control tomorrow night. Then I'll order the 42009 next month, and the 42008 the month after. My plan is 1 LEGO Technic set maximum a month moving forward. I don't have unlimited space to store unopened LEGO sets you know. :D

Still don't know if I made the right decision or not today. I had the 9398 stashed in my closet for the 9 months, and when I saw the new limited edition, I was very tempted to get it, but don't want to drop another $200 on a "duplicate" model. So I did what anybody with post purchase regret would do, I returned it. Had to pay $50 for shipping though because the box is huge, despite it being only under 10 lbs. If it were smaller, I could've fit it in a flat rate USPS box, but this thing is a monster! Now I got my fingers crossed that I can get my hands on the 41999. I'm gonna F5 the hell outta the S@H US site starting at 9PM PST time on Wednesday! It's madness!

I've been obsessed with watching review videos and build videos of the 42008 and 42009, I do want them both! I would get the 75019 AT-TE without a question. Clone Wars large land and air vehicles are awesome looking and always come with the best figures. While I don't like the battle droids, you get a clone trooper commander, and 2 Jedi Masters, one of them being Mace Windu! Dude, you have to get the set just for that figure alone! As for the 75005 Rancor Pit, you're absolutely correct, it's completely overpriced for what you get. Maybe it would look nice if you have Jaba's Palace, but for that kind of money I rather spend it on the up-coming 75021 Republic Gunship!

My question is 42008 or 42009 now, or wait. Here's the back story. I dabbled into minifig and starwars stuff here and there, but my true passion is Technic. I'm really picky about which Technic sets I get. With the most recent 2H release, I'm eyeing a number of sets. The BOSS 41999 is without a question must get, but I'm also considering getting the 42008 Service Truck and 42009 Mobile Crane MKII as well. My problem right now, and has always been is that I would buy a set, or two, or a bunch, and I would put them in my closet for a very long time and not build it. I don't resell stuff for profit on auction sets. That's not the reason why I keep my sets for so long without building them. I simply don't have time to build them! I still have the 9396 Helicopter, 9398 4x4 Crawler, and 8110 Unimog unopened sitting in my closet. I bought them October last year! So if I get the 42008 and 42009, I'll just be adding another 2 sets of Technic the collection! But I don't want to miss out on buying them and have them go out of print. I sure don't want to pay an arm and leg to get it later. I kind of regret not getting the 10194 Emerald Night train set back when it was available for cheap. :(

The set has so many parts, it messed up the sorting system at the LEGO factory? Perhaps I really should wait on the 42008 and 42009 for a while before I make the purchase so they can iron out any 1st print issues. Still getting the 41999 though! Gonna have RC racing between the 9398 and the 41999. Bwahahhahaha.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
FuzzyBallz replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I feel the same way. The movies were great, but the model just looks too simple and amateurish. It's great for a City set, but not so much for a special theme set. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the high levels of details and complexity of Technic sets. I bet it would look fricking amazing if they made a Delorean Technic set. -
My strategy right now is getting the 41999 the day it drops at S@H and wait for sale on the 42008 and 42009, either from Amazon or TRU buy 1 get one 50% off. I want all three. Always wanted a mobile crane, but didn't like the last iteration. Looks way too skinny and the out triggers are just weak. I have the 9398 already, but nobody says you can't have 2 or more of the same thing, even though it's not. The service truck just looks fantastic! I was so looking forward to getting the 42000 F1 racer because I missed out on the 8458 Silver Champion back in the day, but it was such a let down that I scratched the purchase. Basically none of the 2013 1H models caught my interest.

Wow, I'm speechless. The complexity with all the motors and then the pneumatics is mind numbing! Bravo Sir! -
Garbage Truck Flagship
FuzzyBallz replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Obviously the best flagship LEGO technic model would be a mini nuclear sub for first half of the year, followed by a mini nuclear aircraft carrier. Anything less is just another reiteration of a past model. -
Haha, I still have the 9398 4x4 Crawler in the box. But this new model looks really interesting and complicated. Would get it just for the large amount of blue panels. I love highly technical LEGO technic models. Definitely considering ordering this when it becomes available, along with the 42008 and 42009.
