lepin vs lego
Johnny1360 replied to sirslayer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Alternately you could download the official instructions for free and brinklink the needed parts. It's also been my experience that people who support bootleg goods, just refuse to see how it is basically outright theft. -
Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I guess one off the main reasons I'm liking these sets so much is getting so many new parts for my collection, that I have been sorely lacking. That and I'm particularly fond of the vehicles they represent. I know not everyone has the same taste as me, there's many a great set I just have no interest in, 42054 and 42055 for instance or even the Porsche. Fortunately there are so many sets to choose from, almost anyone can find something they like. Those are the ones I choose to talk about, seems pointless to talk about the ones I don't like. -
I too very much like the way this is progressing, pretty interesting. Even though to me it's more of a Terra Forming Gargantuan, than groomer. Can't wait to see final results.

Technic 2018 Set Discussion

Man, suddenly feel disappointed in them all, guess I'll go sit in the corner for awhile. -
Bravo, very creative, really simple and looks great. I just can't help but think of those clouds as "Mother" ships about to unleash total havoc on the poor unsuspecting balloonist.

Yep, it only takes two things, Money and Airspeed.

Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Gee whiz, thought I was in the wrong thread there for a minute, anyhow. Haveing just bought all of the 1H sets, with the exception of the Mack truck, just don't care much for the trailer. I have decided that the First Responder is the "Best" set of the bunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was for the price and part count, probably even buy a second one. I have quite a few thoughts on the other sets as well but I thought I would wait and express them in the review threads, if they ever come. Anyway seems it's time to save for the 2H sets they all look great, so far. I dare say one of the best waves ever. -
I know this doesn't help and is small consolation but I would say they were defective from the get-go. I would certainly ask for a refund.

Marvel Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I know I am in the minority here but the minifigs aren't that important to me. I actually don't care much for the sets that have a bunch of them, then have some small cheesy build. So I am rather satisfied with these two sets. Of course it is great when you get both, excellent minifigs and build. I would gladly trade all of my figures for bricks though.- 3,962 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I thoroughly enjoyed the Rhino build too, passed on the Talon fighter though, just seemed lacking somehow, all those wing pieces. Might have to get it now after your glowing recommendation, thanks LegoFan117.- 3,962 replies

To me it looks like these heads were glued on, like a key chain or something and were forcibly pried off by a spastic orangutan using a rusty axe.

I think there are easier ways to make money. Also I think a lot of people tell themselves they are "investing" as excuse to buy more Lego, me included. It is certainly doable but you need to speculate which sets are going to be in demand years later, long term storage, sorting, shipping costs and general internet selling hassles quickly eat into profits. Definitely not "easy" money and rapidly takes the fun out of Lego.

Looking at the rear suspension, I remember trying something like that before, with those large ball joints. It ended up being too rigid for the shocks to rebound it, when the suspension was compressed. Just wondering how well yours turned out, does it work well? I even doubled up the shocks and it was still just to stiff to function properly.

[MOC] Jaws Orca (or just an old fishing boat, with instructions!)
Johnny1360 replied to hachiroku's topic in LEGO Town
Ha instantly recognized this boat, great job. I do agree though, the back should be a little longer. It looks more like the boat after Jaws chomped the back off of it. Regardless excellent work. -
42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Johnny1360 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I maintain this set is targeted for AFOLs more than any other set. Because of the price and piece count it is meant to be more than just some toy for kids to push around in the dirt. I am also sure that no matter how good it is, it will have faults. That wouldn't stop me from buying it though, if I cared to. I certainly don't feel pressured to buy it, or complain endlessly about it's shortcomings. I'm sure others feel this way about it as well. I do look forward to actually seeing the final product. Sounds like a great set to me. -
Seems rather odd, are these actual Lego heads, or custom jobs? Green residue seems suspicious too. Like to see the pictures, as I don't have those particular ones myself.

Absolutely great scene, would love to see it in person, feel like I could look at it for hours and still miss a great deal. That dog really scares me though, not sure why I feel he is such a menace, must be the surroundings.

[WIP] some offroader

How well does that contraption on the driveshaft work. I know what it's for, just can't for the life of me remember what's it called. -
Sets with large sized extra pieces
Johnny1360 replied to Johnny1360's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This in fact does seem to be the case. Got an extra flex axle white 19 studs long and extra sticker sheet in set 42076, yesterday. They were loose in the box as well, woo hoo. -
42078 - Mack Anthem
Johnny1360 replied to AndroTech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Same here, when I queried them at the Lego store, they told me that they are only getting 2 to 4 at a time. Also they are usually sold before they get put out on the shelf. Patiently waiting, looking forward to building this one. -
Honestly can't believe those three smaller sets are $20, I would think $5.99 would be more inline with normal pricing. Hell for that price the box better recite poetry as you open it. The windmill and house definitely remind me of my childhood Lego days for sure though, truck not so much.
