My mechanical clocks
Johnny1360 replied to Davidz90's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Incredible, I have looked in on this thread for many years and have followed your progress but apparently it has been awhile. I have always enjoyed the mechanisms you create for your clocks but these beauties are just simply incredible, very well done sir, it is good to see others share your enjoyment. -
The price on the Harbor freight train, suggests to me it is not motorized. I only hope there is a significant train and not a crane with a small train build. Really looking forward to seeing it none the less.

General Part Discussion

Those new track pieces are larger than I had originally thought, thanks for the pictures. I wonder if that curve is the same as train track? Looks like excellent monorail track.- 5,465 replies

The "Greatest Innovation of the Past Half Century"?
Johnny1360 replied to ShaydDeGrai's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I had to really think about this for a couple of days, after picking up on it in the OP, for me this is what brought me out of a 40 year dark age, ultimately. I basically got away from LEGO in the mid 70's because snot building was rather limited yet I made a lot of helicopters studs forward. It literally took 40 years for me to notice, hey look I can build sideways now, lol. -
Lego Smart Brick General Discussion/Concerns Topic
Johnny1360 replied to a_clay_brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I first saw this I immediately thought, so they just took the guts out of Mario and put them in a brick. Not sure of all the capabilities of this smart brick but it sure seems like a spin off of the Mario technology. -
Do the studs on old style wheels have uses?
Johnny1360 replied to Xfing's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Those studs on the tire rim were integral to me building snot helicopters way back in the 70's, when I was first discovering LEGO. Without it the props wouldn't spin, can't have that. Edit: Also remember putting gears on them as well. Back then all I had was basic blocks and slopes, with a few windows, doors, wheels and gears. -
Well first reaction, I like this set, loco looks okay, crossing arms and a helicopter.

LEGO 42043 slow pneumatics
Johnny1360 replied to DzieX's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sometimes the cylinders become a bit slow, I often find if I just physically run them in and out through their full range of motion a few times, they will work a little more smoothly and a bit faster. -

Lol, can't complete the poll because I stubbornly refuse to answer number 3. -
Grum's Shed

Good to see you making progress, it always strikes me oddly that everytime I check into this thread, we seem to be working on the same set. I always gain some inspiration after reading of your struggles as I also have some issues with assembly. Thanks for being you.
