Mmmm... Until now only Gali had appealed to me, with those marvelous 3M shells in dark azure and trans blue (take into account that I'm a MOCist so I don't really care about the looks of the figure but its pieces), but the dark tan shells on Pohatu and the trans purple overload in Onua have added them to my shop list. I'll also get Umarak, but none of the creatures. Also I'll probably order some other pieces from Lego Brick & Pieces, such as Kopaka's earth blue shells, Tahu's fire swords and the masks from the remaining Toa I won't buy, as I'm liking their looks a lot more than expected. That Onua's mask seems to be the same size as the other's this time around is also a huge pro in that regard. As a side note, has anyone else noticed the glowing stone carvings in the Toa's box art that show their combinations with the creatures? Tahu and Lewa both gain wings (duh), Gali gets a tail/fin and shoulder mounted cannons (the best combination IMO), Onua and Kopaka seem to just get extra shoulder armor whereas Pohatu... well, he becomes a stick thanks to the box angle.

Star Wars Constraction 2016 Discussion
Darking replied to Logan McOwen's topic in LEGO Action Figures
OMG Finn and Rey... so many shades of brown in just two sets. I passed on Grievous and Obi Wan because the tan shells were not the most useful ones (and money), but these two are an insta-buy for me. -
And here I was thinking that my Toa revamps were looking good... Loving everything about this. Specially the way you attached the Chima add-on on the sides... dude is it tempting to copy.
-
Same here. I've almost finished my revamps/mods of the 2015 toa, and before leakes surfaced I had planned to upgrade them later with the pieces that the 2016 ones would have. But given they are so different in shape, proportions (Onua shares the same body build as the others) and their bland weapons, I think I'll just leave them in their 2015 form. Will surely pick Umarak up though because I'm also revamping the main villains of the story (LOSS, Kulta and him for now), and also because MoCo. Maybe this isn't as bad as it looks. If future waves look better, I'd prefer to save some money on this one.

I have Skull Grinder by my side right now and I can asure you that Tahu's shoulder armor is the Skull add-on in gold. Also has anybody else noticed Pohatu's stone ball at the other side of his spear? Nice G1 homage.

As others have said previously, the new sets confuse me. It isn't that they don't look good to me. It's just that I don't know where is CCBS leading to, or rather I know it but I'm not happy with it... I love me some good innovation, but to me this feels more like they have listened to the tRu BonklEs faNs and their whinning on the new system, and have thus decided to slowly make it similar to Bionicle's old look. I mean, unless it hides some yet unknown function, swaping the lower ball joint in the torso beam for a weird decoration doesn't make any sense. Nor does that the new "shell" connects by pins instead of balljoints. Also the fact that there seems to be only one new weapon mold does not please at all. And please tell me I'm not blind but where the Megablocks is Tahu's Skull add-on attached to? Because I see no shell under it. Edit: Actually I think I figured out the new torso beam: where the balljoint was in the old one, there's now a pin hole used to attach the rear gear using a 4M axle with stop. And I guess the extra decoration was used in order for the rear gear not to be visible from the front.

I sincerely think you guys are looking too much into the "element fusion" thing. To me these beasts sound more like Umarak's pets/allies to fight the Toa (the same way the creatures are the Master's companions). They just happen to be called Lava, Storm and Quake, the same way this year's villains were called Warrior, Slicer, Basher, etc...

You know what does always blow my mind each time a see a new cretions of yours? The simplicity. The elegant and creative simplicity. So many little clever techniques that are not hard to use but are surely to concive. For the longest time I always tried to make things complex on purpose because "duh, if it's easy it looks bland". Then I discovered your flickr account and BAM! You sir have changed the way I approach MOCing, and I really wanted to thank you for that. So, if I wasn't clear enough, to me this is flawless. F***ing great job.

Why does LEGO hate the italian language (legales aside)?
Darking replied to TwistLaw's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Spaniards say hello. Seriously though, I suppose they have made studies on the commonest languages used by buyers. Which againg makes the "no-spanish" thing even stranger, as it is the second most spoken language in the world... (by native speakers at least) -
I was taking a look at the instruction manuals for the summer wave, and I noticed that both Skull Warrior and Skull Slicer have this piece attached to their torso bones, which Kopaka also had. Does anybody know what's its function there? It's also interesting to note that on each skull baddy the piece is attached on a different side of the torso bone, which may mean that it has a different purpose in each case?

Man, as a die-hard fan of both Lego and Muse, I have to say this is frigging amazing! I'd like to see your take at other of the conceptual art pictures from the album.
-
No offense but all these "reviews" are just images showcases. You should analyse (or at least talk) about the features of the set, its pieces and its quality and give your personal opinion I know these are small sets, but I think you can tell us more than what you have written.
-
I don't think it needs any explanation. As someone else said before, it's just armor, and it can come in different alloys or materials. IMO I do like the silver on Tahu, because it keeps the scheme from looking too monochromatic, but specially on Onua, who I think balances it the best with the rest of his palette. The only one in which I agree it looks odd is Kopaka, but for me the problem there is too much white. Silver feet, hands and definetively shield would have been a better choice.

Hello everyone! I want to present you all Atomic Lemons, a rock band I've been in for three years now as the bass player. Our main influences are bands from the classic British rock, like The Beatles and Queen. I actually did a similar thread last year with some of the songs we recorded ouselves, but last september we finally recorded an EP at a professional studio, and even a professional videoclip! Our full EP can be found for free in Spotify searching for "Atomic Lemons", but here I'll leave you the videoclip for our song "I Can't Sing" on Youtube: Also, we recently uploaded a new song, "You And Me", along with a more humble video. Here it is, also from our Youtube channel: Finally, I'd like to ask you that, if you liked our music, please vote us via Facebook in the contest Musicaula, it won't take you more than ten seconds! Just enter the following link and click the blue button on the right with the "votar" label (sorry the page is in Spanish :P), enter your Facebook account if you're not already logged in, and a message will appear asking you to agree with the terms; just click on the little box for it to be checked and that's all! Every vote helps us a lot so thank your very much for your time, and I hope you enjoy our music! https://premium.easy...32034/620158106

What? The Design By Me service was discontinued three years ago or so, yet LDD has been recieving two or three updates (with usually around 50 of more new parts each) per years since then. I don't know where you get that it has been abandoned. The update is just taking a bit longer than expected. Not like it has been the first time, I remember the wait for the second one of 2012 seemed like an eternity to me (dat square HF armor piece tho)
-
Uh... to help differenciate them? I can understand that, from an aesthetic point of view, having all of those technic bits in black or another neutral colour would look better in most cases... But seriously, when you have a huge amount of pieces in a bin, the different colours really help finding the piece you're looking for. Also, younger or inexperienced builders could make mistakes when building the sets because they weren't able to tell one piece from another.
-
That was probably because of all the silver in his colour-scheme, the same way Gali's axe blades are silver, or even Pohatu's jetarangs are gunmetal. If all these weapons were the same colour used in armor, they wouldn't stick out that much in poses where both overlapped.
-
My hopes are always crushed when I enter one of these topics... people should use clearer titles. As the person above me said, there are never fixed dates given out by the LDD team. But I think we won't have to wait much longer till the next update.
-
Emm... no? From the IFB line, the only beasts which used metallic parts were Splitter Beast and Queen Beast. And their use of those colours wasn't for "metallic-ness" sake: Splitter beast used Titanium Metallic scarcely in a mostly-black colour scheme, and Queen Beast featured very few Warm Gold pieces as an accent colour, which exactly what you say metallic colours should be used for. I'm not that displeased with the use of two metallic colours in the same set, as long as they are placed in the right places. Of the new sets, Onua is the one I think pulls it out the best, whereas Kopaka's silver and gold main body seems clashing for me...

As did BO Furno (1 in silver), BO Bulk (2 in silver) and BA Bruizer (1 in silver)! :P I'll have to agree with most people here on the 3M Bone. Everytime I try to create a new custom body base, I just know I'm going to use some of those.

CCBS elements removed from "LEGO Pick a Brick"
Darking replied to Darking's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Wow, years ago? Seriously? I seemed to recall seeing those pieces just some months ago... My memory is really that bad... Thanks for the comments. I knew of the Bricks and Pieces services, but I have only used once it for a set that came with some missing pieces. I didn't realise you could also buy spares from there! I'll definitvely give it a look. -
I've... actually seen that Kopaka combiner before! Here! (and here with a physical recreation) I've seen some on those on flickr, notably I remember Onua's combination... although I don't know how to unlock them in-game. I suppose you have to get all the unlockable parts or something like that.

I've recently started using the LEGO Shop website, with the reboot of my all-time favourite theme, BIONICLE. I'd always bought my sets on stores, but it was a nice way of getting my new bonkles way before they started apprearing in my country (at least compared to some other places). So, long story short, I just decided to have a look at the Pick a Brick section, because I clearly remember seeing some CCBS elements there, such as bones, shells and armor add-ons, and I thought it would be an easy and fast way of getting some more pieces for my creations. Imagine the horror in my face when I see that almost all CCBS pieces have just been removed from the system! In fact, the only related piece I could find was element 93571 Ball Cup 3M... Does anybody know the reason for this? Or if something like this has happened before? It doesn't seem like a good idea from a selling point of view to me, as less pieces to choose from implies less customers are going to use the service... just like is my case. I surely hope they'll add those pieces again.
