What setting are you using for the glowing lantern and fire ... I've not had any luck with the lighting effects. -

Settlement, Charlatan Bay, Infero Pordejon, Sea Rats
Roadmonkeytj replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Charlatan Bay now has a Kings Port Advertiser Printing office to get the news out quicker! Licensed as a small Factory -
In an effort to speed the printing of the news from across the Brick Seas an entrepreneur has imported a press from the old world with his inheritance money and began production of Printing in High Town. He has hired an excellent team and a highly qualified typesetter so once the reports are in hand news can be put to print immediately. OoC: Just a fun build coming from the frustrations of waiting to see the MCRA Trade results. I'm aware that this will not actually speed up the process and the KPA team does do its best to get the news printed as quick as possible.

Thanks Lol I sorta purposely built it bigger than needed ... To give the "big box store" feel realistically there would never be such a building In old times lol it would be a small long shop. But yes all the displays are their own sub model so they can be moved easily. There are several submodules in sub models also. It really helps especially with furniture IMHO to do it this way as you can select and move it easier. I do all my Minifigures this way as well.

The other building is kinda a forced perspective trick to give Jack's that giant mega store feel. And also for another story. Hense why there will be figs in another post lol. Glad the hats went over well. Thank you, its not quite but that was the idea that they literally carry everything Pirate. Originally I had another clothing rack but it never made the cut as I liked the posed figures but you couldn't see them through the window so we'll so I did a display inside as well. Thanks! Jack's might just have to run an ad in the KPA lol I'm glad you approve! I tried to work in several classic pirate pieces as well as some other classic set elements ... See if you can spot others! Thank you, I wasn't sure at first how to advertise the store ... Just a small sign with custom decal or build it into the brick. Then this kinda developed and I liked it so the giant letters stayed lol. Thanks, the furniture was the hardest part ... I had a bunch of parts and was trying to find a good way to display them all uniquely lol

Im going to echo what's already been said ... Heavy guns on the bottom and lighter as you go up. I love the mid deck guns and the lower deck as they look convincing. The upper deck look too heavy however. The rest of the ship is looking great ... However the hardest parts (at least for me) are always the bow and aft lol. Excited to see this develop Massive improvement ... I would love to see her more curvy in the middle but overall it's looking nice All those strings! Man she looks great! Did you post her somewhere with more pictures yet ... Sorry I've been absent -
Very nice build indeed! Definitely love historical based builds! You mentioned the blade being vertical ... I'm assuming they ran a cam and crank to just "saw" the blade up and down? A plate and the 1x2 curve with 45 edge might work ... Or even the 2x2 triangle tile with rigid hose and clips. Unless those blades were tiny on the original.
-
Oh I love the split rail fence ... And an added plus I'm now convinced I bought enough sheep for a small flock ... I also really like how you used the coral element. Makes it look like an untamed pasture quite well. The black poo is concerning ... Might want to build a vet soon!

Thanks! Yea I had to build the wall to crumble the wall. So there was alot of double work. Even the column that fell was originally attached. There are also a ton of details that I included that you just have to notice!
-
Thank you. The angle was tough to achieve with the triangle tiles since the corners of the building protrude. Each angle should reveal a feature or element that is not readily seen from another. Thank you ... I tried bright green under trans black tiles and I rather like the murky water effect it creates.

Thanks! I like the mystery but also wanted to include a way to make us not the first to discover the island just merely the current. so having no history this creates an opportunity for some Thank you It was the only way I could picture swamp tree looking Aye and lining their pockets in the process Thank you ... it was a struggle to create a building but deteriorating. There were several parts where I built the wall then started deleting bricks to crumble it. Looking back, I wish I would have added more rubble on the ground. New images added! Traditional Bru Ha-Ha is Green/Yellow in color. If you look carefully you will notice a locally sourced fruit was substituted and is producing a lavender color and giving Bru Arr-Arr a unique flavor. They are only sold by the barrel full ... are you interested in one for your next voyage? Perhaps two to have on hand to prevent mutiny?
