Pirates of the Caribbean would be an awesome theme. Esp. compared to Spider Man, Bat Man, most definately Sponge Bob, and even Harry Potter. Imagine the ships, the island sets, and the town. - very nice.

MOC = My Own Creation (any set that a person builds themself) Vignette: see some of Athos's little sets. He makes some of the best ones I've seen. Usually just a small scene on a small baseplate (like a partial wall and a few figs depicting a scene). Here's a link to some Clue vignettes on Brickshelf. I found these looking to see if someone tryed it, and they did. Very nice. Clue Vignettes

Who are all the Pirate Lego fans on this board?
WesternOutlaw replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Scurvey bunch of pirates! I'll take them all out in under 10 seconds with a quick spray of bullets from a well-placed gatling gun! - or better yet, a good gunslinger could take them out while they reload those old sea water-rusted flintlocks. -
I agree. I recommended a Board for the Clues Mysteries some time ago and didn't get a response from anyone. What also makes these stories really good is some visuals/ Lego illustrations. Bloody Jay built the Crowley mansion for my last mystery. If I do another, I will definately add pics. i'm actually making visuals but not legos instead im using sprites i cant decide do u think i should put words for it or not one person thinks i should by i say these a re the words opinions words if you do it with sprites. But if you did MOCs or vignettes, that would be great.

Big let down when you consider what they could have made.

A few pirate set ideas for you to ponder on and pillage. I'm partial to a new Pirates of the Caribbean ghost ship but would like to see a seaside town/village.

I think it's unlikely that Lego will give us good pirates in '06 when the 4+ just came out a year or two ago. I could be wrong (and hope I am), but I'm predicting that they don't.

Brickshelf find: The first ever Maersk Ship...
WesternOutlaw replied to Hobbes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nice ship, but Light Blue will forever be "typecasted" as Maersk blue, regardless of the MOC. -
My creations & modifications of original sets
WesternOutlaw replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
Very good MOCs DW. I never had enough pirate ships to do this. -
Maybe with the Pirates of the Carribean II, we'll see Lego respond with some new pirate sets (not 4+). - probably not, but wishful thinking on my part.

Not my favorite theme, but definately one of Lego's better all time themes. -
I just wish lego would re-release the Eldorado Fortress. Definately the model behind this. What's a better set Phes: Eldorado or the Trading Post?

I like the engine colors - esp. for Christmas.

Strange vehicle. When it comes to these types of vehicles, I really liked the open cars from the 80s (or) the Spiderman vehicles a lot better. Here's a shot from the Paramedic Unit released in 1980:

"I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach".

Ran in to this Christmas Train recently for auction: More pictures here: Christmas Train I esp. like the engine. Sounds like it has some very unique attributes like an extra bright LED for the headlight. I wish Lego would produce a Christmas Steam Engine. One of the choices in the recent Lego SAH survey was a Christmas Train with a new wagon every year. This would be a great idea and make great sets for collectors. In any case, this is one of the best Christmas Trains I've seen.

These are both awesome designs. I esp. like the interior of the 1st church.

They definately take more space. I recently bought the large airplane. The runway needed for this set would be longer than the length of my entire city.

I have to agree with you Hobbes. I love looking at these old sets. I would have loved to had this old western train, or any of the other sets in this catalogue. They bring back a lot of my vision of what Lego is all about (the slogans mentioned above). The 1st time seeing these sets is really a neat feeling. I'd still take any of these sets and enjoy building them.

Take a look at the horse legs closely. They are in fact early minifig legs. This was not the case with the horses that came with the yellow castle made from 1x2 bricks and plates. The hats seem to be the same as modern hats. Some pieces haven't changed over the years. In looking at all these older sets, you have to appreciate the fact that they were mostly made from standard bricks as opposed to all the new specialized pieces. Pretty neat.

Check out this old Western set from 1977. This was called Texas Rangers and would have gone nicely with this train:

You have to consider the part selection back then. For the time, I think it's a neat set. I would love to see Lego design a detailed steam engine from the 1800s now. It would be a great set. I had a 725 back in the 70s too KimT - a gift purchased in Germany; but unfortunately, would not work in the US with the power difference. We took it back to the store and I purchased a Classic Yellow Castle instead. I still have it in fact. OK, I'm reminiscing now...
