Norro: that's an amazing MOC. I don't think I would want to destroy it. That had to take a long time to build. The detail and the colors are very nice - and you've definately got one huge Lego collection.

Very nice. All that grey would make for one hell of a castle.

Why do so many of you hate Bionicle?
WesternOutlaw replied to gollum 66's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I don't usually respond to info/questions regarding Bionicle; because I can't say anything good about the theme, but I truly dislike Bionicle. I don't consider Bionicle Lego. The building system is something all together different. I don't like the story, and I never understood the fascination with the theme (even with young children). On any given day, I will check out the Lego SAH web site for sale items, and three fourths of the sets are Bionicle. I thinks it's a silly line and despite populatity, I don't care for them. In addition to Bionicle, a few other themes I don't care for include the large Knights Kingdom figures (they remind me too much of Mega Block Super Heros), the Pirate 4+, and Jack Stone themes. These, I think, are Lego at it's worst quality and design. Comparing these sets to non-standard brick sets like Duplo, Duplo City, Castle, Bob the Builder, Thomas, and Dora, these are geared toward younger children, but very nicely done in quality and design. Bionicle on the other hand, will never be Lego in my opinion and among Lego's worst. Sorry if this offends the Bionicle fans reading this, but it's my view of Bionicle. -
Huge! That's one big ship. I really like the walls of the fort too.

Found this info on Lugnet this morning re. the new train system: Jan Beyer has shown us parts of the new train System in Frechen/Germany. Just some unassortet aspects and informations. - The track is full plastic as already seen. - The train base is 32 studs long and contrains IR recievers on both sides and battery box (included and not removable). - the train motor has plastic wheels. - the wheels show spokes on their faxe sides and have technik axle holes. - the motor has special technic axle holes (nearly with cylindrical bore: so they have a "slip-under-overload-effect") - no new track radius is planned (so far) as Jan mentioned - the engine needs 6 pieces of small standard batteries => still a 9V system - the control panel (made for lefthanded kids as it seemed to us) has only 4 knobs and a frequency switch. knob 1: signal horn (in panel) knob 2: stop knob 3: pos. accelleration (speed up or break rearwars drive) knob 4: negative. accelleration (break or speed up backwarts) The frequency switch allows to choose betweeen 3 frequencies or controls all 3 frequencies at one time. I ask myself, what would happen if any of my three nephews wanted to own a second train.... Looks like Lego did not go with a rechargable battery, that's disappointing; and the controller can only control one train. For the entire thread: Lugnet Link

Undead pirates attack a fortress! Yeah baby!
WesternOutlaw replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
It's probably better than I could have made, but it is a little plain, esp. the left side. -
Please share. I'd like to see them.

The Royal Drawbridge is a pretty nice set. It has some good competition though.
-
Take out those men in green tights! They're way to merry, even for our forest. *knight*

Which figurehead in the pirate theme do you like most?
WesternOutlaw replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
Interesting poll... I think I like the bird the best, followed by the yellow pirate on the Barracuda. -
That's a great collection of forestmen. I wish I had a few of these.

It looks like the track color may be bley though. But the cargo train is very nice. I like the engine, the box car, and esp. the crane car- reminds me a lot of 4552, Cargo Crane. And check out the blue truck. Looks like that may be part of one of the sets.
-
I'm more interested in seeing the whole cargo train, esp the rolling stock. The engine doesn't look like a crocodile as originally suspected from the small BrickLink image. Sam: do you have a whole image of either train engine?

I am surprised by the number of votes for Border Ambush as opposed to Temple of Mt. Everest. The temple is a pretty nice set with some unique colors and pieces.
-
OK, a unique choice. I can appreciate the originality. Since we mentioned the pirate sets not included, also not listed in the choices is a set I had never seen before, 6563 Gator's Landing (1996) - a very neat set. I did not include because of it's similarity to Rocky River Retreat and Amazon Crossing. It's a simple set, but also pretty nice.
-
It doesn't look like that good a set, esp. compared to some of the other pirate sets containing the bridge piece (like 6273 Rock Island Refuge, 6281 Pirate's Perilous Pitfall, or 6270 Forbidden Island). They all look like better sets (at least in my opinion) - although those brown wall pieces would provide useful for expanding Fort Legoredo, ha, ha. |-D
-
Strange choice Phes, but OK.
-
It's hard to vote for sets without an image- no problem.
-
Very nice ship DW. Very nice detail (esp the back) and the sails look very good.
-
In no particular order: Sting Peter Gabriel Steely Dan PS: Brickster sloganized: "Everyone should believe in Brickster", "Made by Brickster" - the 1st few that came up.
-
good choice.
-
Maybe we'll see some good buildings this time (as opposed to Spider Man).
-
A question relating to how you store your Lego.
-
I've got it. It's not a bad set, honestly. The Outback sets were pretty good. The airstrip is a neat little set too.
-
Ahem...Steriotype. 6490 is from the Outback theme and includes a croc.
