  1. Thanks for the nice compliments. I honestly don't make too many MOCs myself. I never seem to have the right pieces and/or the right colors - and they never seem to come out. I'm surprised too that lego never made one for the wild west sets. In regard to the Playmobil coach, yes, I have both the newer yellow mail coach as well as the red one from an Anniversary set. I didn't use it as a proto-type when building this though (it's burried in the garage). Ironic that it came out rather similar after looking at the images. Brown wheels would probably look better. I have large brown (from the graveyard duel) but not the smaller for the front. Yellow plates on the bottom would probably look good too and contrast nicely. Now I like it!
  2. This is my first attempt to build a western stagecoach inspired by a Wells Fargo coach: Although very simple and not very detailed, this took be a long time to build: Getting off the stagecoach. 2 mini-figs can sit inside without their hats. Closer view: A view of the rear compartment: Much of my loose pieces are in storage and I was rather limited in what I had to work with. Despite this, I don't think it came out too bad at all. For the Western fans, let me know what you think.
  3. Loving these figs, I think it's well worth it. - Personally, I'd rather have the sets that they came with though.

  5. No, actually the Christmas village accessories and lights. They fit really well. I bought them just for this purpose.
  6. Was not sure where to put it, that's why the link from here.
  7. Was not sure where to post this but check out this link that leads to some images of Classic Castle and Pirates (posted under "Your Own Creations"). Brickster's Display of Classic Castles & Pirates
  8. This isn't so much my own creation, but rather a display of some Legends/Hard-To-Find Castle and Pirate sets. These images are a few years old after ordering from LSAH. The Armada Flagship on its way to Black Falcon's Fortress: Passing by Port Legend. There's the Blacksmith's Shop and the Guarded Inn along the docks. Hey look, there's Phes waiting for his ride. "Don't let him on", the sailors yell! A closer look at the busy port: The sun has began to set as the Armada sailors load their cargo:
  9. Brickster's U.S. Army above.
  10. No these are all the figs from the sets. I have one of each Western set with the exception of the Weapons Wagon (have two). A total of 14 figs - and I have more horses. I don't think that's a bad fig count at all. My reply was in fact posted to My Own Creations as U.S. Army.
  11. Very nice ship. I like the solid brown color and sails + the dock.
  12. I had to try it, not bad at all. Thanks for sharing the idea.
  13. Here's my own. I'd never sell these though: Brickster's U.S. Army
  14. Using the figs from my Wild West sets: If you have one of each of the Wild West sets, you'll have a total of 13 figs. I've got an extra Weapons Wagon making my total 14. That's not a bad fig count for one of each set. That includes Fort Legoredo, Gold City Junction, Bandit's Secret Hideout, Frontier Patrol, and 2 Weapon Wagons. Sheriff's Lock-up and other smaller sets do not contain any Army troops.
  15. My cannon was non-shooting. If anyone has an image of the European cannons that shoot, please share. I never saw these before and heard they look different.
  16. My apologies. I mistakenly took a picture of the wrong fig. This is in fact the fig that came with this set:
  17. That's awesome! Why didn't I buy more Frontier Patrols when I had a chance? I could of easily built an army just like this. Confederate troops would have been cool as well. I don't know why Lego didn't do this like Playmobil.
  18. Looks good Hobbes. Nice job. This is the only "new" train that I didn't buy. I'm running out of room, I haven't had much luck with building my own trains. I'd love to do an Orient Express. I don't think you'll be disappointed with your recent Ebay win. They are truly great sets. I just did a review of the Weapons Wagon, my introduction to the Wild West Theme. Shoot 'em up! PS. I think I should charge those Ebay sellers a commission!
  19. Looks good Hobbes. Nice job This is the only "new" train I didn't buy. I haven't had much luck with building my own trains.
  20. Wild West Weapons Wagon 6716 63 Pieces, Released 1996, $7.99 U.S.D. My first Wild West Set, and the set that started my interest in obtaining all the Wild West sets. This is a simple little wagon pulled by a single horse, but I think very detailed and a great set. A view of the wagon. The cannon does attach to the back: The front, room for a single fig to drive the wagon: The back view with cannon balls: Top view, without the cover. The barrels fit on the round hole-piece on each side of the wagon. In the back is a secret compartment for smuggling guns, swords, money, or gold. By taking on the single black piece in the rear, the contents can slide out without disassembly. The accessories: The American non-shooting cannon: The whole set without canvas top: And the set with: A view of the rear of box with alternate models: Summary This has got to be my all-time favorite small Lego set. I love the detail, the accessories, and you guessed it, the overall Wild West theme. My only complaint is why Lego did not use brown wheels? In any case, I had so much fun initially building this set and displaying it in different manners. Buy this set if you can find it. You won't be disappointed.
  21. Post images of your train model when complete Hobbes. I'd like to see them.
  22. Did you buy Fort Legoredo Hobbes? If you didn't, I would be back in the store as soon as it opens. You can still buy all of these sets on Ebay but at a hefty price. In reading your small note about contacting Lego and Playmobil, I think that's a neat story. We used town sets as well when I was a kid (like the Auto Shop in Main Street, and the old brick horses from the yellow castle - lances for guns. Thats what we had to work with and the fun element was still top notch! In regard to Playmobil, I've still got most of their 80s Western Sets in excellent condition, with the exception of the train, train station, ranch, and church. These are great sets and look very good displayed. This is what I want Lego to still build. Maybe one day I'll see Lego do it, and on that day, Lego fans will think of Hobbes, Brickster, and others that wrote the letters to Lego asking for Civil War, Alamo, and other western sets.
  23. Quit spending all your money on Lego! A digital camera is a must. How else can you take pictures of Lego?
  24. How about doing a photo review of the Eldorado Fortress for me? I only saw this set in pictures. May have held it in the store years ago, but can't recall. If you want to oblige my images of the Wild West theme.
  25. Thanks Phes. I'm a bit of a completist, and if I do one, I have to do them all - at least the medium to large sets (esp. when Fort Legoredo is not my favorite). Actually, it was kind of fun, and adds to my appreciation of these sets. The Wild West theme really brought me out of my Lego "dark ages" as I had not bought any sets between WW and the Carribean Clipper (this gives you an idea of how long that span was- quite a few years to say the least. And if others find these reviews useful making them look for these sets and buy, it adds interest to the theme which I can't say enough- how Lego should make more of these historic themes. I can go out and buy a new KK or Viking set, and just not enjoy them as much as I do these. I generally set these sets up for display and appreciate looking at them until I break them down again, sometimes building a MOC or two in between. Perhaps you feel the same way about Pirates. If I had an Eldorado Fortress and a few of the other excellent Pirate sets, I'd probably feel the same about pirates (I don't care to buy now over Ebay). Trains are my other enjoyment as I have most since buying MOT to go with Wild West. Trains and Wild West go hand-in-hand for me and my perception/idealistic view of the Western United States (driving between major cities). I still have two of the Indian sets which I never opened (so won't be posting pictures of these). In any case, hope you and the others enjoy the images.
