  1. You can enter Ghost Miner. He's a real spooky fig. *skull* The entries are not limited to History and Adventure but all monsters, creatures, etc. can be considered adventure.
  2. Here's a shot of both MOCs together:
  3. Creatures can be space aliens, or any theme (as long as they're minifigs). No custom pieces are allowed. Stickers are OK.
  4. Thanks, I like it better too, but I may still change it. Practice makes perfect ;-) .
  5. Figs are not limited to history and adventure. They can be pirates, etc. All monsters can be part of Adventure by the name. Contest ends October 20th. That's about two weeks. Looking forward to seeing your spooky figs!
  6. Awesome MOC! I love the bridge and the palms are great. It really gives me the feel of a pirate island adventure.
  7. Looking forward to seeing your entry. You make some great figs.
  8. Make sure to check the original picture. I edited the first image with some better box art. Also, check out the Ghostly Hay Wagon.
  9. Contest Rules Only Post images on this message: CONTEST ENTRIES Adventure, history, movies... The countries of the world have been haunted by apparitions, demons, and monsters :'-( . Now is the time of the season when we enjoy being scared the most. Boo! In tribute of October and Halloween, let's have a Spookiest Mini-Fig Contest Contest Rules: - Build your spookiest Lego Mini-Fig - Post an image of your fig on this message (not too large) - Share a brief paragraph describing your fig (not too long) - There will be three categories for winners (you do not need to specify when submitting your entry) * Most Original * Most Scariest * Best Overall Fig with Description A separate poll will be generated with pictures of all the spooktacular figs after at least 10 submissions are provided. Let's have fun and let the contest begin! *skull*
  10. Very nice Darkie. I love the detail of the cathedral and most of all the wagons. Nice job!
  11. Indeed! Something definately sinister at old Sutter's Mill.
  12. Gotcha. I'm planning to add some other MOCs to this collection. Perhaps I'll try your suggestion.
  13. Neat idea. I'm not real good with mechanisms, but it would add a neat addition. You betcha! ;-) 'Ol' Jeb may be using that old mill for some sinister things. Thanks. The wagon does looks pretty good with the mill. I'm planning some additional MOCs in a similar variety. I sorta like the old traditional look (pretty simple to do and it goes back to the basics). It reminds me of the hay in this set I had as a kid:
  14. Thanks for your comments, but I'm not sure what you mean by grey 1x1s? Do you mean just for a "brick" look or to break up the brown logs?
  15. Here's a few additional shots without box art. Front: Yes, the torso is from the red fig cowbow (I call Blondie). And yes, I don't remove arms. A view from the top: And the side which shows the whole MOC: In keeping with traditional WW set colors, I chose green to highlight the wagon. I like green as it is also used in Gold City Junction (and goes well with Halloween). I think that dark green or even that newer brown might look good as well). It could be like "My Own Train" and you select the accent color.
  16. Riding along the dark and unpaved road to Grave Stone is the Ghostly Hay Wagon. You may catch a ride with old Jeb Snotworth as he whips his black steed without mercy. He's on his way to Sutter's Mill with a special cargo of hay. Oops, was that a head that just rolled out. It is! Set includes horse, wagon, Jeb Snotworth minifig, and scythe. *skull*
  17. I wish I had one, esp. for my next MOC coming soon.
  18. Oh, I made that with my graphic program. I was trying for wood, but no luck. I happen to stumble upon the filter and it looked pretty good. I thought it looked like leather, but now that you mention it, it does look like a potato sack.
  19. Just something I used from Fort Legorado that I had open at the time. I had a second bat, but replaced it with the bird. Easy to switch. This is partly my intent. I want to build sets that can fit in nicely with the WW theme and also be used at Halloween. I've got a few more planned that may be a bit more scary, but I won't be adding a cactus with a face or a building that looks like a skull. I like a more realistic element, although I do ahve something with a little twist planned. No, that's fine. You've done a good job with your "Ghost Town" logo on your box/image and I did want to be different. Not a problem though. I prefer story over "box art" anyway. Perhaps, but the story will unfold through the Mocs. Thanks for your comments.
  20. The mill is empty but I originally constructed two removable roof sections (one on the right), and on the top. It worked out OK, but I didn't like the way the brown plates protruded next to the brown "log" pieces, so I rebuilt without the removable roofs. I could make an open back. I used the black handle plate but my piece of choice is a round 2x2 tile with lifting ring for the winch. I've got a few, but the piece is tucked away in my train boxes (they're used for cranes). I didn't think the lantern was too bad, just the wrong color.
  21. Recently, yes; but you know I was working this theme or "sub-theme" last year. It's also that time of year.
  22. The Autumn winds begin to blow and the orange and crimson leaves fall from bone-like branches of lifeless trees. Something dark and foreboding is in the air, the smell of death, the smell of decay. In the darkness of a moonlit sky, a black horse rides from the mountains near Grave Stone. Yes, it is he, the Ghost Rider and he has come in search of something or someone with a taste for vengeance. Alone in the outskirts of Grave Stone stands Sutter's Mill, long-since abandoned since the great gold rush. Two treasure seekers are venturing into the old mill in search of the lost map of the one-eyed prospector, Tex Grimwell. Rumor has it that old Tex found the "Mother Load" after years of searching in the desert sometime before going mad. He and his gold was never found but some say that he left a map to his discovery, hidden somewhere in Grave Stone. Strange lights have been seen near Sutter's Mill and some even say that the place is haunted. Others say that it would be best if Sutter's Mill was burned to the ground along with the horrible evil that lies in Grave Stone. The Haunted Mill is the first of a second series of Ghost Town MOCs that I never completed last year when first introducing Ghost Town to Eurobricks. Since Brick Miner has used the name "Ghost Town" for his theme, I will be calling my theme Grave Stone, the name of my original Ghost Town. Inspired by Brick Miner's excellent graphic ability and Ghost Town MOCs, I'm re-visiting Grave Stone as part of the Return of Ghost Rider. I've got some ideas that may be interesting. Please let me know what you think. Without graphics: Entrance to the mill and working winch: Boo! A skeleton in the outhouse! A better view: The roof: Left side view: Front view: The treasure seekers (made only from existing WW torsos and faces): The loft: *skull*
  23. To me, building is playing, but who says an adult can't play? - ok: wives, spouses, significant others, but who are they to criticize? Especially if they collect dolls, and/or other items from childhood. I too, have been embarrased from time to time when standing in the Lego aisle (at my age), looking at sets closely. But who sets the "norm". Old men are perfectly fine with setting up train displays and building doll houses in their garages, so what's wrong with playing with Lego? The corporate world has embraced "building/playing with Lego" as a tool to enhance creativity, so what's wrong with AFOL doing this in their homes? I don't know about the "swooshing noises" though. I'm a pretty quiet builder, and don't generally swoosh my adventure planes, Star Wars, or space sets, but to each his/her own. It's all about fun. We work hard to buy the things we want, and what's wrong with Lego?
  24. I'm a little surprised that some of the respondants have focussed on the cactus creature rather than the MOC as a whole. I must say that I really like this MOC and even the cactus is rather clever. Very original in fact. It's a nice detailed combination of buildings, figures, and accessories. Very well done Brick Miner. I'm really impressed and would like to see more. In regard to the price; however, way to high if you are in fact selling. This set should drive around the same price as Gold City Junction, or around $60-$70 USD tops - even with the special pieces. Although I realize some of the pieces like the Ghost Miner's head is very rare. I still like it though and it almost makes me want to break out my WW sets and see what I can build.
