  1. The Flying Ninja Fortress is really over rated. The towers aren't well designed at all.
  2. They're Scooby Doo colors. Kinda retro.
  3. Nice job, but this is a rather old message (last post prior to you = May 6). Welcome to Eurobricks though, Gahu. You might want to check the Last Post Info unless you really like a subject. Answers to the questions you missed: Pippin's profession is a "globe-trotting" reporter for World Magazine. Emperor Chang Wu seized control of the city of Xi'an. He is also known as the false emperor. Great job in getting 18/20!
  4. I've got a pretty good collection of Lego in boxes in the garage. I'll open a box and build sets from a particular theme; but generally only one theme at a time. I hate to mix a lot of pieces from different sets. It makes putting them back together again very difficult. Also, space is always a factor. I don't like setting sets on the floor so I have one table I dedicate to a particular theme. So I'll spend some time on a theme and then move to another. Also, when I'm out of inspiration, I like to move to another theme or idea. This particular one was MOCs. I'm not sure what I'll do next. I've got a few ideas in my head. Sooner or later, one will give me the motivation I need to break out another theme. I don't know about that. As you know, it takes a lot of time building MOCs over and over again until their ready to share with others. In addition, you've got to photograph, edit, and upload the pictures. I would say that it's a lot of work to contribute to a forum (but it is fun). I'm still waiting for some of your Ghost Town MOCs. ;-) In regard to my comment about "not getting much more out of Ninja", I mean to say that I haven't seen strong participation or interest from the other Eurobrick members. And the reason is probably due to the poll results, most people don't own any Ninja sets. In addition, when interest isn't strong, I lose interest too. But that's also a good thing. It gets me thinking about other ideas/MOCs/themes. This is also why I like the History & Adventure forum a lot. We're not limited to one theme of discussion. I like Pirates too, but I would get bored easily with just one theme. Variety and diversity is much better. Build it and they will come...
  5. We missed your posts in the H&A forum! Welcome back Norro.
  6. Thanks for taking the time to review this set. Great pictures! I sort of have mixed feelings about this set. Part of me likes it with the new elements but it's not classic castle. I do, however, like the detail (like the torture chamber) and figs are pretty nice to. I'm not sure if I'll buy.
  7. Thanks. See also the Red Samurai Fortress and the Palace of the Three Gems.
  8. Interesting thoughts Holly. I think they do (at least for me). I like both and I bounce between the two every few years. Once I start buying Playmobil, I'll let the Lego go for a while; and the same when collecting Lego. I suppose what I'm most disappointed with in the last few years with Lego is the themes they've selected to do. While Playmobil continues to offer great themes (which I call the classics), Lego has really gotten in to movies. Playmobil has not had to do this. It's time Lego returns to the good history themes.
  9. I draw inspiration from MOCs and good discussions. I'm not getting much more out of the Ninja Theme (at least on Eurobricks). It's time I move on to another theme now.
  10. In looking at the poll results. I'm really surprised not more people own Ninja sets. That explains why I haven't seen too many Ninja MOCs out there.
  11. I really like the choice of colors. It does show that MOCs aren't limited to the more common colors. I give it a 10 for originality.
  12. Lego should offer color tubs then, in whatever the color of the week/month is. That would be a nice idea. You could really stock up in the specific color.
  13. Thanks. In regard to the baseplate, I could have just as well used tan, dark brown, or grey. Just chose the green because it was large and I had space to build it any size.
  14. Shucks! :-(
  15. I was just curious as to how they would look in a different color, but that top piece is pretty much stuck, so did not remove. That black ninja is hard to pose on a rope.
  16. I think I like WW and horror better than Sci-Fi.
  17. Maybe... I grew tired of the fortresses. I have a few other themes in the back of my head right now. Not sure what I'll be doing next.
  18. I always thought so. But then again, I envision a lot of red, green, and black
  19. me too... strange.
  20. Oh well... Wouldn't it be neat to be able to interview a set designer to find out his/her inspiration and/or thoughts on popular set.
  21. That's a neat idea. I already destroyed it though. Maybe in a few years when I break the theme out again.
  22. And Playmobil actually made Confederate soldiers:
  23. Just placed it there to hold a bucket for water. Don't ask me what I was trying to do??? Oh, here's one more of Fort Eagle:
  24. I haven't bought any Playmobil in a few years but yes, I did collect them. Unfortunately, I was looking for all the retired western sets. I have quite a few, but I prefer them MISB. I did open them for display though. They are great! Some of my favorite pieces are the old gold mine and the stage coach (both pictured). I have more that aren't in that picture- like a working water tower and windmill (lego should have made these too). In addition to westerns, I was partial to the Jungle theme, Pirates, Castle, and Vikings. I still think that Lego copies Playmobil themes though. They're just too close (even the sets within the themes). The real problem (and always has been) is space. You need a huge area if you want to leave all this stuff set up (esp. with trains). The Playmobil trains are G scale - these are really intended for garden railways and will run on LGB track. They take up a lot of room. But then agian, even Lego requires a lot of room if you do trains. But what I like most about Playmobil is that the detail and the quality is outstanding. The quality reminds me of really old toys and they last a long time. They bring back a nostalgia for me, esp. the western sets which I think is Playmobil's best theme (they still have some western sets as Add-Ons). And I think one day, they will bring them back. Themes repeat. let's just hope Lego does the same with WW.
  25. I'm still waiting for Lego to re-create a Hoth battle scene with a Rebel base, cannons, and a lot of Snowtroopers and Rebel Troops. In addition, I've always wanted to see an Ewok village in the trees. Until these sets are built, Lego can still build the SW sets. ;-)
