GHOST TOWN Sub-Theme inspirations thread !!!
WesternOutlaw replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great comic BM. I never got in to comics and have never seen this one before. I like the cover with El Diablo. Who is he? Is he a tough nemesis? I'm starting to get an idea of your Ghost Town inspiration. -
It's funny how a thread about a MOC always ends up in war. ;-)
-
It is a little crooked.

Halloween 06: Scariest Movie
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I never saw Basket Case but it sort of reminds me of a movie called Don't be Afraid of the Dark. These little humanoid creatures live in this house, and only the lady of the house can see them. The family would be eating dinner, and the creatures would be under the table yanking on her napkin. When she screamed, they would run and hide. No one believed her except the care taker of the home. They killed her in the end. -

So far, it seems that the out house has won over most. -
Halloween 06: Scariest Movie
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Ring- definately a "dead ringer". The movie that they rented was so freaky and the girl coming out of the TV set. That scared the #%&! out of me. Some of the classics for me was Amertiville Horror and the Exorsist. These movies scared me for years. -
Halloween 06: What has scared you the most
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lamanda: Who or what is Tailly Poe. I've never heard of this? I think the Quaker Oats guy comment is pretty funny though. He's a puritan- you can be scared of people like this. Starwars4J: Very interesting story. This is the kind of story that I thought would be shared by asking about scary things. You know the saying, "sometimes truth is stranger than fiction". Ghoulrealm: The thought of alien abduction is pretty freaky. Reminds me of the movie/story Communion. The movies always seem to portray aliens as wanting to probe us with nasty instruments (in the eyes, mouth, rear, etc.). Definately spooky. When I was a kid, I was always scared of the Bloody Mary story. The "urban legend" says if you look in a mirror in the dark and say the name "Bloody Mary" so many times, her image will appear. I can't recall if I ever tried it, because just the thought always freaked me out. I also recall a friend's older sister telling me about the story of Amertiville Horror (around the time the movie had come out. She was reading the book). The stories really scared me and for a long time, the media/TV stated that the stories were true. Later, it was discovered that they were a hoax, although the son did murder his family in the house. Scared the "kajeebies" out of me. I have a lot more, but movies always seemed to scare me the most. -
Halloween 06: What has scared you the most
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Jay, this message was meant more for the supernatural in the spirit of Halloween. Why don't you share your first choice. -
If we were to create a top 10 or 20 most scariest movie list, what movie would you want to see on the list? Does this movie take you back to a scary moment in your life? Were your friends also scared of the movie when discussing? Did it take you a while to sleep again with the lights out. Share your most scariest movie. *skull*

In the spirit of Halloween, share your most spookiest moment. What has scared you the most? What has kept you up at night? What spooky thing has left an impression on your soul to this day? Share your thoughts. I have a few that I'll share once a few people respond. *skull*

Halloween 06: MiniFig Contest: RULES

Yes, definately. PS. Post your comic as another message as inspiration for some of your MOCS. I am not familiar with this character. Would like to discus separate from this message. -
Yes. It doesn't look like a well to you? Don't worry. I have noticed that you and Brick Miner are the only regulars that provide feedback. But that doesn't deter me from building. Not taking images and posting does, however. I can't sit and wait when I draw momentum from building, taking pictures, and posting. I do maintain an index for those wanting to look at the MOCs. Think of it as a Lego Library.

GRAVE STONE: Ghostly Hay Wagon
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is what I'm getting at. Smuggler's Hayride contains very specialized pieces but they left the hay standard bricks. It adds an element of nostalgia having at least 1-2 standard Lego bricks in a set. I've said this before, but more and more sets don't even have traditional bricks anymore. It makes building very difficult because one has to have "that special piece" or the MOC doesn't work. I wanted a pitchfork but I don't have one. Instead, I used a scythe in this MOC. I don't mind standard bricks at all; even if sometimes one can't identify what they're for. It's part of the imagination process. So until I see a hay piece, it's yellow bricks. -
GRAVE STONE: Return of the Ghost Rider
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think it's just the lighting or my flash. I didn't adjust the colors. -
I like adding additional "things" to MOCs sometimes to a point of affing too much. I tried the old traditional square design and just didn't care for the look. It kept resembling a bagota. Then I thought, let's try the big barrel. I think it came out pretty well (well)...

GRAVE STONE: Ghostly Hay Wagon
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well, if you want to say that, sure, but take a look at the Smuggler's Hayride below. We've gotten so use to specialized bricks that we don't use standard bricks anymore. Here's a set that has wonderful classic castle elements, great figs and parts, but uses standard bricks for the hay. I like throwing in standard bricks when you can, esp. just for some hay. -
Near the outskirts of town, not far from the desolate town of Grave Stone, a spooky old shack stands next to a dead black tree. It is rumored that someone or something was burried under that old black tree years ago before the gold in the hills that surround Grave Stone went dry. Harold Axewood, a rugged mountain man, lives in the spooky old shack. Some say that Harold was once married to a woman by the name of Millicent Clemens and that he drowned her in the well near his shack, burrying her in a shallow grave under the old black tree. Her spirit haunts the shack and she can sometimes be seen as a witch flying above the tree. No one visits Harold Axewood anymore, but on any given day, he can be found chopping wood outside the Spooky Shack *skull* .

GRAVE STONE: Return of the Ghost Rider

I'm getting a little better with the photo programs but it is tedious. I want to draw some mountains, etc. It's tough.
