  1. We were discussing set 1380 Werewolf Ambush and Brick Miner mentioned that the lady from this set makes a good western minifig. It got me thinking, what other figs are nice additions to the WW theme? I have two, both from Adventurer sets: The first is most obvious because of the white cowboy hat, Senor Polomar contained in sets: 5936, 5976, and 5986. And another great fig is Mike from Mike's Swamp Boat. I love his sling shot! The lady from Werewolf Ambush that BM mentioned: Share your thoughts re. figs that work great for the WW theme.
  2. Cindi and Mark are taking a shortcut home through the country forest. Cindi looks at Mark rather frightened and says, "I don't like this road Mark, let's turn back". Mark laughs, then responds angrily, "this shortcut through the woods will save us almost an hour". As the two young friends continue to drive through the woods, they can't help to notice the full-moon above the dark trees. "Oh, this is too creepy", Cindi says with worry. THUMP! "What's that ahead in the road", Mark asks? They slow down as an eerie tree in the forest begins to move toward them, almost alive with dreadful eyes. A lupine figure stands before them in the road! "Aaaahhhh"! Mark yells as he nearly jumps out of the car! Cindi moves into the drivers seet to steer away. It is too late for the young friends; however, for no one can escape the Werewolf Ambush *skull* . Werewolf Ambush Set # 1380 Released 2002 Price: $10 U.S. Dollars Pieces: 110 A wonderful Studios set, Werewolf Ambush is among my favorite(s) of the Studios collection. A view of the box: And backside: What I like most about the set (aside from the figs), is the classic green adventure car: It definately blends in nicely with those cars/jeeps from the Adventurers Desert/Mummy sets: Not as impressive is the spooky tree: I like the eyes though and how the upper section of the tree can swivel to allow the tree to move: The back of the tree has a controller box to turn on/off and adjust the effects: Not to mention a pull pin that allows the tree to topple over when pulled: The figs are great: And most fun are the turnable heads to change the expressions of the figs to show fright: Not shown is an extra torso for the Werewolf very similar to that of the picture, but the upper/collar section of the shirt is open to show the werewolf's chest hairs. SUMMARY: Werewolf Ambush is an excellent set for the price. I was able to obtain mine on clearance a year or two after the release. If you are considering buying this set on EBay or other secondary market, I would highly recommend it. It's a great set, esp. around this time of year!
  3. Thanks for your comments. In regard to the Engineer Max face, I was looking for a face that had a beard, but not from the WW collection. KK or Castle may have provided a better face, but I didn't mind the good Pastor having a "train background" at all. Adds character. Perhaps Pastor Grimstone is nothing more than a train hopper that found his way to Grave Stone ;-) .
  4. Great piece if I had some.
  5. I like both but of the two, it should be more fun than scary. That's what Halloween is all about.
  6. Never tried that. I'll have to look at these again.
  7. You know, I never had a ghost (as much as I like Ghost Town's and all). Good choice and not as common as one would think.
  8. On top of Hang Man's Hill rests a quiet little church known as Shadow Chapel. Pastor William D. Grimstone presides over his small congregation of the sinners of Grave Stone. Pastor Grimstone appears as a mild tempered gentleman who always wears a white hankerchief and is willing to lend a hand and a dollar to those in need. The only thing that he asks is for a short visit to his chapel and a single favor to his parish, "once you get back on your feet", he always adds with a gentle grin. But Pastor Grimstone hides a dark side. Many mysteries surround Shadow Chapel especially the rumor of the night that the good pastor and his flock went after Tex Grimwell, the old miner. Supposedly, they dragged him from his bed up to Hang Man's Hill and hung him in cold blood. Tex was never seen again and some even say that his spirit haunts Grave Stone. Jeb Snotworth and Harold Axewood are the newests members of Pastor Grimstone's congregation. Some say they are quite spiritual as they visit Shadow Chapel frequently. *skull*
  9. A few more MOCs may reveal more of the story.
  10. Definately. Grave Stone is Northwest of Legorado, near the foot hills of the Dark Mountains (I'd say at least four to five days from Legorado).
  11. Definately agree with you Yoda. I think that Lego should have continued the line-up. Creature from the Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, even the Headless Horseman would have been great additions. Perhaps Lego would have been smart to continue the collection. And I always thought monsters were big with kids. That would be neat to see. You should do it for this Halloween and post images of your MOC on this forum.
  12. Great use for the face. It looks real "devilish".
  13. I agree with you. I found the two smaller sets in mass quantity in a clearance bin. And I noticed the cardboard walls in the Vampire's Crypt and was very dissapointed by Lego doing this. It caused me not to buy the set. Now as I look at these sets closer, I'm thinking that they weren't bad at all. The figs were great and the sets had some very useable pieces (esp. for Halloween).
  14. Very nice CB. Very impressive. Any idea how many pieces this took?
  15. Lego Studios offered us our first Lego versions of classic movie monsters: 1380 Werefolf Ambush 1381 Vampire's Crypt 1382 Scary Laboratory 1383 Curse of the Pharoh I own 1380 and 1383 but never got around to buying the larger of the four-set collection. I particularly liked the two smaller sets, esp. the Werewolf Ambush. The car was set in old adventure style and the werewolf and tree, pretty neat. But what happened with the popularity of movie monsters? Were these sets too classic for kids. Or was the combination of Studio and Movie Monsters too much (as in a bad combination). Or were the sets just too "jack-stone-like"? What do you think? Did you buy these sets? Did you like them? Share your thoughts here.
  16. I think that Lego could offer light up figs and more pieces similar to how they created the light-up jedis for the SW theme. A train track controller with a light up lantern, maybe some spooky figs with light-up eyes (like those from the Studio theme), and many others. The possibilities are endless.
  17. Do they scare you?
  18. It seems that mystery is among the lowest ranked. I'm a little surprised.
  19. We need more stories about those spooky places between your home and your school or friend's house. These are stories that create goosebumps.
  20. Definately an all time scary flick. The scene were she turns her head all the way around... Completely freaky!
  21. I knew you would ask that Phes. No, it actually does not function. It is just for looks. Although I did consider making some gears in the back move when the windmill turned. I don't think it would be too hard, I just didn't feel like taking the time to rebuild the upper section.
  22. The sheriff of Grave Stone was one of the first to leave; although no one ever knew what happened to him... *skull*
  23. Very good SupaaSayajin; definately scary! And welcome to EB. Is that a Darth Maul face? If so, great use for the piece.
  24. Thanks for the info.
  25. Could you call these mysteries?
