  1. I think you're all missing the intent of the question, rather focussing on the wording/punctuation.
  2. I take this question to mean, what is the best castle or viking set available now. "Best" meaning worth buying. I'm not sure about 2007, but I would say the following sets: 10176 Royal King's Castle. Although I don't consider the set a real Legend as it's a new design. It definately has some of the classic or quasi-classic castle elements and design, however. Price wise, it sells for $100 here in the US, which I hate spending on a single set- but it is 871 pieces. You might also consider 8813 Battle at the Pass if you can still obtain. The set is no longer available at Lego SAH in the US. The set is a much better price and includes 11 minifigs. In terms of Vikings, 7018 Viking Ship Challenges the Midgard Serpent remains my favorite of the Viking collection and is still available. For 2007, I haven't seen any teasers/spoilers yet for new Castle or Viking sets, but one can only hope for more Classic Castle. Good luck with your selection.
  3. Hard choice. I understand your dilema. I would suggest you hold off and put the $ toward a 2007 set. I really like the crane and would love it myself for that city/train scene I'll resurrect one day, but I do like the sub too. It's the first larger Adventure Sub that's mini-fig scale. I voted for the crane, but now I'm re-thinking my choice. What to do? Wait for 2007 and buy neither. I've gotten very selective over sets I buy these days as collections can grow out of hand.
  4. It's not available in the US.
  5. I just stumbled upon this image today on Maj.com: What I find really unique is the yellow transport truck pictured to the right of the image. Many of you probably don't remember but Lego used to use a steering piece (column) connected to a wheel brick for their trucks so that you could turn the front wheels with the use of a little red 1x2 brick that said Lego. I owned the steam shovel set pictured below that had one. I still may have it somewhere. The 1x2 brick would be a neat collectors piece. Also interesting is the use of smooth grey rubber tires. I remember seeing these many years ago. These and the old black ones lasted forever. This picture really depicts early Lego.
  6. Since I think this is a pretty silly poll, I think the best Lego-related sound was Phes doing his impression of an albino seal in one of his pirate threads. It was that one moment that I knew he had finally "flipped-out" and taken Lego Pirates a little too seriously. :-D I will try to find the message and add a link if I locate. OK, here it is. The thread was called: AWESOME!!! Hear the voices of Pirate mini-figures, Well, what they might sound like... - a Phesical rendition Voices
  7. Very good, esp. Norrington. Do you own many of the WW sets, or are you just good at the history of Lego?
  8. So what became of this set? Based on the comments, most agree (including myself) that it was the best set of the collection.
  9. Definately not. I think it will be a short-lived theme. In fact, given the amount of posts in the Trains & Town (T&T) forum, I would definately say no. Aqua Raiders is needed to boost the T&T forum, and how many messages can six sets generate?
  10. Oh, excellent. No one had mentioned. I've seen a MOC or two of them as well.
  11. Sorry about that. I could have sworn I said COWBOY hat. After just re-taking the quiz, I realized that I did not. Since the green-shirted outlaw (card-player) had a black tophat, I would not have answered black either. Definately a "loaded" question. Sorry about the confusion re. this question. I think the others are pretty clear, but others may catch something (like the black hat question) that I may have meant but failed to mention. Also, to those of you who referenced a question by #, the questions and answers (A,B,C,D) are random, so I can't tell what question your referring to just by number. I think these quizes are fun to take, and with just 20 question, not too time-consuming. So far, I only see one person who scored a 19, the highest score. Feel free to try again as 007 did.
  12. It's best not to look at the time when taking the quiz. I was just looking at the scores. 007 scored an 8/20.

  14. Just as Blackboot and Dice get comfortable in front of the bar, the doors to the cantina fly open by none other than Dusty Miller. This time, he is not too late. He walks toward the bar to see Blackboot staring at him as if the two men knew each other from long before. A nervous Dice draws his side arm. But Dusty is much faster pulling his his Colt from his gun belt! One shot is fired and Dice falls to the ground. Dusty puts his gun back into the holster watching Blackboot closely. The minutes seem like hours as the two men watch to see who will draw first... "I'm take'n you back dead or alive", Dusty warns. Blackboot responds, "not if I shoot you between your eyes BOY!" POW! Blackboot draws his gun faster than Dusty and fires! A bullet nicks Dusty's left shoulder. Dusty draws and fires. His bullet hits Blackboot's right boot. Blackboot falls to the ground in pain. Dusty walks over to Blackboot as the sound of his spurs clank against the wooden floor. Blackboot looks up at Dusty in fear. Dusty looks down at him and says, "if I was aim'n for your heart, you'd be a dead man. And don't you ever call be BOY again"! Dice is burried in Haciendo as a tied Blackboot Thomas rides off with Dusty toward Legorado. Two large sacks of money hang from the saddle. Back in Legorado, Dusty collects his reward at the Union fort. Union soldiers cheer as an embarrassed Sheriff McMillon shakes Dusty's hand. Dusty can't help to think, "Legorado is definately much more than a few buildings and a barren bunch of tan baseplates". "Thanks to all of you", he says with a smile. ;-)
  15. The more and more I look at this castle, it reminds me of a Playmobil castle. I looked at some recent catalogue images and found this set, 3268 Knights' Empire Castle. Take a look:
  16. Lego did it again. How very dissapointing. I saw the set at TRU over the weekend. The prototype is fantastic. The final version is lacking. I really liked the causeway in the prototype and the round design. The final is much more square and lost the nice design that really made the model look like something underwater. I'm indifferent in regard to the squid and not sure about the sub. But overall, I am very disappointed that Lego did not go with the prototype. I do not plan to buy unless on clearance (which probably won't be too far into the future).
  17. Jacob: your MOC is absolutely outstanding! I commented about the ship a few weeks ago, but next to the fortress, it looks super. What I like most about the entire display is the size/scale. To tell you the truth, it looks almost like a Playmobil castle with the red roofs. Some of the details that I love include: - the crossed windows/slits for crossbows. - the red roofs and the red and yellow flags. Great color combination. - the bridge with gate over the moat. - how you built up the side of the mountain in tan and dark grey BURPs/pieces and the foliage. The use of the palm and the other greenery really brings a lot of detail to the scene. - the side drawbridge. Overall, this is one of the best castle MOCs that I've seen; and as I've already mentioned, having the Medieval ship next to it adds that much more detail. Absolutely outstanding!
  18. A happy Blackboot Thomas and Dice cross Carson Bridge and make it to the other side of the Rio Grande. "Hurray! we made it to Mexico", Blackboot yells. Dice gets on all fours and kisses the dirt. The two outlaws continue along a dusty trail as they arrive in Haciendo, a small Mexican mission town. They begin looking for a cantina until they find La Podrido Sitio, known to the locals as "the bad place". They enter the bar to discover a rather large Mexican cantina filled with rough looking characters, only to make their way to a fat bartender who seems to be called Gordo. They order two whiskeys when a fight in the corner breaks out. Chairs begin flying until a loud shot is fired! It was the bartender who shot his double barreled shot gun that he pulled from behind the bar. "Chanco, Pig"! he yells while two men carry the looser out of the bar. Dice looks at Blackboot only to say, "this is my kinda place"!
  19. Yes, Outback was a neat little theme. Phes: you honestly don't remember these sets or is it that you didn't realize they were part of an Outback theme? The theme included five sets: - 6444 Outback Airstrip - 6487 Mountain Rescue - 6490 Amazon Crossing - 6550 Outback Racer - 6553 Crisis News Crew Both 6487 and 6553 included helicopters. I particularly like the Outback Airstrip too, that I always add to my WW layouts. It had a thin tan display and a neat little building. The plane wasn't too bad either. Here's a shot:
  20. Any more suggestions for the WW theme? The Tail of Dusty Miller can't end just yet...
  21. Col. W: It's fun to see you resurrecting some of these old posts. I had almost forgot about them completely.
  22. Athos: you mean you're not going to create some vignettes to illustrate the story? I was looking forward to seeing George Michael, Ricardo, and Tatoo as minifigs.
  23. I agree with you 100%. I'd love to see Lego return the old Classic Castle Days of Yore!
  24. I had heard (or at least I thought I had) that KK will continue into 2007. Since much of the story/KK world is still unexplored, I would be surprised if Lego were to scrap the theme completely. In fact, I was waiting for some forestmen. See my speculation re. new KK sets in August of 2005: Banteras I would not mind; however, the thought of a new "Classic Castle" style theme.
  25. Very impressive Frank. I like your contribution to this great display. And welcome to Eurobricks!
